The Middle Georgia State College Police Department is requesting assistance in locating student Jmaal Keyes who was last seen on the Cochran Campus of Middle Georgia State on April 25, 2013. Keyes is the subject of a missing persons report that was filed by family members on April 29, 2013. Any information regarding Keyes should be reported to the Middle Georgia State College Police Department at (478) 934-3002.

Wilbur Purvis, pastor of Destiny World Church says the church plans to organize a search party that will travel to Cochran, via bus, on Tuesday to search for the missing student.

The Destiny World Church in Austell will also be offering a $2,000 reward.

AUSTELL, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation told Channel 2 Action News they have joined the search for a missing college student.

Glad to see the GBI is involved in the search. Hopeful they can get his cell phone records/info and his computer (if he had one) to search for any clues. Hope he is found soon.

There is no link yet (and I see no other links yet supporting), but I just heard on Macon's television station 13WMAZ 11 p.m. news the breaking story that an arrest has been made in the death of Jmaal Malik Keyes.

Will post the link as soon as I can.

So sorry to hear this news ...

ETA: Still no link, but station has added on the air that no body has been found -- however, someone has been charged in Keyes' death. I believe they said it was a young (teen) male that has been charged.

High School Student Arrested, Charged with Murder of Missing MGSC Student

An arrest has been made in the case of a missing Middle Georgia State College student.

17-year-old Robert Kane Rolison of Hawkinsville has been arrested and charged with the murder of 19-year-old Jmaal Malik Keyes, who was reported missing on April 29th.

School officials continue to indiciate that Keyes' body has not been found....

Hawkinsville Teen Charged With Murdering Student

A Hawkinsville teenager is charged with murdering Jmaal Keyes, the Middle Georgia State College student who went missing from his Cochran campus April 25. ...


...The release does not describe the killing or the motive. ...


...Shawn Douglas, campus police chief, also declined to describe the death further.


In a phone conversation, he told 13WMAZ that Jmaal Keyes' body has not yet been found.


Douglas said Keyes and Rolison apparently knew each other as campus classmates, but their relationship beyond that is unclear....

So sad to learn that Keyes was killed - a tragic loss. Prayers for his family & friends. Seems like the person arrested was last to see him. Latest report does not say if Keyes body has been located.... or at least that is what is being reported.

UPDATE: Authorities searching river in missing college student case

A Middle Georgia State College student who has been missing for two weeks may have gotten a ride to the convenience store from a Hawkinsville teenager now charged with murder, according to the college police chief. ...


Todd Lowery, GBI special agent in charge at the Eastman office, said the GBI is the lead investigator in the search for Keyes and that the search was being conducted in Bleckley and Pulaski counties.


Lowery said the state Department of Natural Resources has been assisting in the search from the ground, which includes the use of boats on the Ocmulgee River. The Georgia State Patrol has assisted with searches from the air, Lowery added. ...
