Monday afternoon the Albany Police Department held a press conference to ask for the public's help with a missing person case they are working on.

23-year-old Lacambria Toomer has been missing since August 13 - but her disappearance wasn't reported until 11 days later.

Monday afternoon, her family and friends spoke out to the community to request information that would help bring her home.

Toomer's mother addressed the community about the delay in reporting. She says "she's used to her [daughter] being on the road for days at a time and when she got to where she would call, she'd check in to let me know where they were at," and adds, "this time I got nothing from her so I immediately got worried and text her." After a few days without contact from her or the baby's daddy, Toomer's mother reported her daughter was missing.

Toomer stands at 5'01" and weighs 210 pounds. Police say she has brown eyes and black hair.

It is not known what she was wearing when she went missing.

"We need factual information because without that factual information, we're just following up on tips that may not lead to anything. We have to dedicate those resources to actually follow up on tips that will prevail and reveal us to where Lacambria is - bring her home, or at least find out that she's safe," says Albany Police Department Lt. Kalandria Peterson.

If you have any information, please call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS.

Where does Lacambria and the baby's daddy (I assume her bf?) go? No mention of a car. Are they homeless? I hope that they are safe.

@Stunned Re the baby, of course I'm not sure, but MOO thinking the baby might be with others/family after this arrest in May 2022:

‘I just want to hear her voice’: Family searching for missing Albany mother

The mother of a 6-month-old child has been missing since mid-August.
[...]

Melissa Thornton, Toomer’s mother, said the last time she had contact with her daughter was via Facebook messenger.

“That was on August the 14,” Shereka Moses- Tukes, Toomer’s aunt, said. “And as far as the last time we’ve seen her, it’s been a minute because we pretty much expect her to be with who she’s usually with.”

While the family said Toomer suffered mental health issues after the death of her father, this type of behavior is unusual.

[...]

“It’s not like her,” Tukes said. “She usually contacts somebody. I mean she has a 6-month-old son. If she didn’t reach out to her mom to see her baby and video him or even if she needed me, her aunt. She knows I was there for her so it’s just out of the norm for her to not reach out to no one.”

Family pleas for information in missing Albany woman case

[...]

Melissa Caldwell, Toomer’s mother, claimed Toomer was a victim of domestic abuse. ...

[...]

“So I’m not saying it’s my fault but I could have just let her come and stay with me. I could have done that. Things would be better right now. So, she leaned on him a whole lot and ended up going back to stay with him and going on road trips. So without a shadow of a doubt, she was always on the road and on road trips,” Caldwell said.

[...]

It deserves to be said that the mother didn’t need to report anything. She wasn’t compelled. She reported this knowing it would reflect poorly on her and potentially on her daughter, and she didn’t care - she’s out here looking for her now.
I can understand a desire to judge all involved. I judge 10000x a day. In this case though, I’m consciously choosing to be the imperfect chick who’s not throwing any stones.
Hoping she is found and willing to contribute any intellect I’ve got toward the effort.

She has a six month old child? And she was a victim of DV and went back to her abuser?
Wondering if he’s a trucker? And they can’t reach him either?
Oh no….not getting a good feeling about this scenario.

Subject was last seen with child's father who is a truck driver on the above date. Lacambria has not reached out to anyone since August 15th. Phone logs also show no activity since then. Child's father stated he dropped her off at a Love's Truck Stop in Cordele, GA while on his truck route. That information proved to be false.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The family of a woman missing since August 2022 is asking for answers to find her.

Lacambria Toomer has been missing since August 2022.

On Thursday, the Albany Police Department is hosting a press conference in relation to the case.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A man is facing murder charges in connection to the disappearance of a woman missing since August 2022, according to the Albany Police Department (APD).

Ryan Cooper, 25, was charged with murder in connection to the disappearance of Lacambria Toomer.

Cooper was taken into custody in Dawson on Wednesday.

Police said additional charges are pending against Cooper.

********
Cooper was arrested on Wednesday. The Dawson Police Department and the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office aided in the arrest. WALB asked Albany police where and when they found Toomer’s body. They did not give a response to that question directly and said it is an active investigation.

Caldwell said she doesn’t know where her daughter is. She told WALB there is some relief from the news but it still hurts that she’s gone.

Caldwell said Toomer and Cooper had a child together last year. She claimed there were multiple domestic instances between them in the months leading up to Toomer’s reported disappearance.

********
Caldwell will be hosting a community walk in Dawson on Saturday, June 10 in support of getting justice for Toomer. It will start at 8 a.m. at the Dawson Police Department.

This is one of the most painful county record websites I've used, but he seems to have been charged with felony murder and concealing death of another, with the offenses occurring on 8/15/22 and an arrest date on 5/31/23.

Some lovely reports and a mugshot from his previous offenses, reportedly against Lacambria.

COOPER, RYAN TIMEL, SO: BATTERY/FAMILY VIOLENCE — FIRST OFFENSE Active; CRUELTY TO CHILDREN — ALLOWING CHILD TO WITNESS ACT, THIRD DEGREE — Active; BATTERY/FAMILY VIOLENCE — FIRST OFFENSE Active;

Currently in residence in Dougherty County Jail, no court date listed. There's an additional charge listed as "off bond," with an arrest date of 6/1/23, with bond of $9k. So does this mean that someone saw fit to release him (?!) until his bond was revoked (or he had issues with the company that bonded him out originally?) on 6/1/23? Again, the website for county court records shows me that there's scanned documents, but when I try to open them, I get a blank page, so I'm sure I'm missing things.

If the prosecutor’s office believes you have violated your bond conditions, they can file a motion to revoke your bond. A revocation of bond means the person who posted the bond will be released off the bond, and you will be taken back into custody until your case is resolved.

On Monday, Nov. 27, the court denied Ryan Cooper, the suspect in Lacambria Toomer’s murder in 2022, bond reduction request.

[...]

“We believe that as the case progresses, we will be able to present to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim is deceased based on forensic evidence, and other evidence that is going to be provable,” Edwards [Dougherty Co DA] said.

Edwards says that building evidence indicates that Lacambria Toomer was killed in Dougherty County, not Terrell County. Where she was last seen.

However, Edwards says the remains could be anywhere.

“They got into an argument- her and Ryan Cooper. After that, no one has seen or heard from my daughter,” Cam’s mother said. “So yes, I believe something has happened to my daughter.”

As Toomer’s birthday is coming up on Dec. 9, Toomer’s mother Melissa Thornton says she wants to bring her daughter home - but today’s search was unsuccessful.

[...]

“Right now, we are unsuccessful we haven’t found anything. But we haven’t given up. God is in control so we going to take care of it. All I ask the community is come on and support us. Dawson is a close community we need to start supporting each other,” Issac Gardner, a close friend, said.

Family members plan to meet at 3 Squares Diner in Dawson again on Wednesday, Nov. 22 with the help of cadaver dogs to help find the remains. They welcome the entire community to join the search.

A bond reduction is pending for the former boyfriend of Lacambria Toomer, Ryan Cooper, who is accused of murdering the mother of his child.

Lacambria Toomer’s mother, Melissa Thornton, says the most painful part about this entire situation is that she can’t even give her daughter a proper burial because she doesn’t know where her daughter’s remains are.
