They had a journalist who had written an extensive piece on Sullivan back in the 1980s in SPY magazine (I remember reading it) and ha spent time with Sullivan, talking about what a piece of work this guy was/is. The word "sociopath" came up several times, as well as "stingy". The story of Sullivan being incredibly nasty to a waiter who brought him the wrong type of bread really resonated. The pedophile I had the displeasure of knowing, before his arrest, would routinely verbally abuse waiters & waitresses, anyone he viwed as being "beneath" him.

James Sullivan was spared the DP but was sentenced by the Judge to LIFE in Prison WITHOUT the possibilty of parole.

On 2 other counts - Guilty

20 years on each count to run consecutively with the "Life" sentence.

FINALLY - Justice for Lita & her family. Thank Goodness!!!

as posted on the other thread about this murder, james sullivan got life without the possibility of parole.

Contract killer who murdered beautiful Atlanta socialite released from prison

The man who shot and killed an Atlanta-area socialite in a murder-for-hire plot more than three decades ago has been freed after serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Harwood pleaded guilty in 2003 to killing 35-year-old socialite Lita McClinton Sullivan in January 1987. As part of the plea deal, Harwood was able to escape the possibility of a death sentence by testifying against Sullivan’s husband, millionaire James Sullivan.

James Sullivan, now 77, is serving a life sentence for murder at Macon State Prison. Investigators say James Sullivan paid Harwood $25,000 to kill Lita while the two were in the midst of a contentious divorce.

''In 1987, the murder of socialite Lita McClinton Sullivan shocked the affluent Atlanta suburb of Buckhead, Ga. The tony neighborhood, with its well-kept mansions and excellent schools, was not the kind of place where women were gunned down in cold blood in broad daylight. But that's exactly what happened with she opened the door to someone posing as a flower delivery man.''
