The family of civil rights legends Medgar and Myrlie Evers is urgently seeking help to locate their missing granddaughter, Nicole “Niki” Evers-Everette. Niki, the daughter of Reena Evers-Everette, has been missing from her Duluth, Georgia, apartment since Sunday. The last known contact with Niki occurred around 4:55 p.m. CST that day, when she spoke with her mother.

Since then, she has not reported to work, which her family describes as highly unusual. Niki’s cell phone, purse, and personal belongings were left behind, but her car was missing from her apartment complex. The vehicle was last seen on Monday night near Keys Ferry Road and McCart Road in McDonough, Georgia. “I am worried and terrified for my daughter, Niki,” said Reena Evers-Everette. “We talk regularly, and it is unlike her not to be in touch. She does not have her medication, which is critical due to a medical condition.”

The missing woman's mother said that Evers-Everette traveled out of state without letting anyone know several years back and was gone for days before she was found.

Using security footage, deputies learned that Evers-Everette left her home on Sept. 23 with a suitcase. That same day, her vehicle was last spotted in the McDonough area.

Nicole was located safe (“okay”)

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. - Shortly after police asked the public for their help in locating Nicole Evers-Everette, the woman was located. Her family is now aware of her location. Gwinnett Police did not provide any other information.

“I am just so thankful that my Niki has been found safe. Thank you to God, law enforcement and all those who assisted in helping us locate Niki. I am eternally grateful and overwhelmed by the love and support shown during this difficult time,” said Reena Evers-Everette, Nicole’s mother. “I recognize that this outcome would not be possible without the incredible commitment of my family and the power of the media and social media. My deepest thanks to all who have shown up, spoken up and stood up, to help find my daughter.”
