GA - Nicole 'Nikki' Guined, 20, fatally shot in Walton Co. deputy's home, 10 Dec 2014

Nikki Guined lived with Dwight Buchanan and another couple. Police say that, as the group partied with a visitor on the morning of Dec. 10, Guined and Buchanan got into a fight, but reconciled and headed to the bedroom.

According to the police report, as the couple was intimate, “Nikki asked Dwight for his pistol. Dwight was reluctant to do so, but gave Nikki his unloaded pistol. Nikki repeatedly asked Dwight, 'Don't you trust me?' She then asked him to load the pistol. Dwight took the pistol from Nikki, loaded it with a magazine and chambered a round. He then removed the magazine and gave it back to Nikki. She then placed the muzzle of the gun under her right jaw and pulled the trigger."

Three other people at the home heard the gunshot but did not hear the argument, according to the report.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the strange death and Buchanan is off the job during the inquiry. He was hired 13 months ago and worked at the Walton County jail.

"I wanted to be as transparent as possible so that there are no questions,” Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told WSB. "We don't want to appear that we're hiding anything.”

Immediately made me think of Michelle O'Connell and her "suicide" (IMO murder), also committed in the presence of her LE boyfriend Jeremy Banks. There's a thread here for Michelle, also a Frontline episode and a shocking NYT piece.

Hopefully GA will do a better investigation (IMO cover up) for Nikki than FL has thus far done for Michelle.

I'm having a really hard time believing those cat scratches received from cats trying to wake somebody up...especially looking at the rest of her face. JMO.

In the state of Georgia:

Involuntary manslaughter is the unintentional killing of another person. The killing must result from illegal or reckless conduct by the perpetrator. The maximum penalty for involuntary manslaughter is ten years in prison. Involuntary manslaughter may also be a misdemeanor, punishable by less than one year in prison, under certain circumstances.
In any case, he will still be a young man when he is released. You are right, gngr, not what we were hoping for, but at least he is no longer in law enforcement. Hopefully this prevents him from pursuing a career in law enforcement, or legally owning a gun for the duration of his time on the planet. I can't find any information on that, but one would think so..........

It has haunted me. He was clearly an abuser and she kept going back. I hope and pray that the charges are upgraded. Someone removed that picture of her shortly after I got the screenshot. I know her friends knew what was going on. I'm not sure there's much they can do with hearsay.

Bump. Are there any updates? I saw he was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, but was he actually imprisoned?
