No. His supervisor, lieutenant beyreger closed the complaint case against him made by Leanne rather quickly. Shortly thereafter, he was told by the FBI that he needed to call her and apologize for revealing her as the tipster, or she would not cooperate with them. She recorded the call and his admission of revealing her to LH.

Portela is still on the case as far as we know. The FBI can't remove him because SCPD still has jurisdiction.

Portela and the rest of that squad for the most part are Burke men.

Again the Peaches thing ??? If I remember correctly she was not Caucasian ? Nor was her child. Do I think PH could be the father ? No I don't. I actually don't see him as any kind of front runner for anything in this case. If anything he was the patsy. Maybe JB and his cronies had something on him. Maybe he assisted in dismembering. Who knows.
As for JB. Him possibly being the fatter of Peaches child ? Plausible. I'm sure the prison he's in has a DNA sample. Run a DNA test on the child.
We know he had an ongoing relationship with a previous AA woman. Did Peaches confront him. Child support ? Which the state would garnish his SCPD paycheck. OK I can see him being enraged and killing her but to murder a child ? That is a whole different ball game. And as Rachel Mills stated " to take the child away from its mother" why not keep them together ? Maybe it was his final act of control ? A kind of I'll be damned if you'll think I don't call the shots.
The whole FBI non involvement thing really really bothers me. We all know cops are territorial. The Feds and local LE usually don't mix. The FBI should of just involved themselves. Burke refusing help should of been a major red flag.
They knew the home locations of the GB4. It's got to fall under some federal law. ( the Mann act ? )
I think TS and JB had instilled such a culture of blackmail in the department. They knowing all the dirty stuff I'm sure a lot of cops in Suffolk are into. And to think JB the moron who left his SUV unlocked finally got him jammed.
Another thing that bothers me. The father and son who were interviewed on the Killing Season ? JS and JS Jr. They predicted a year before Shannan was found that it would be in the marsh ? I find that odd.
My theory on the doctor. I don't think he is responsible for Shannans death. I don't think he even treated her as he first claimed. I don't think he expected her to be missing that long and presumed dead. So he went along with this whole scenario of "helping her". Calling Mari. Telling the mom he ran a home for wayward girls etc. and he believed she would be found alive and he would be the hero so to speak.
No doubt Oak Beach has a culture of what happens there stays there.
And again as for Leanne ? If she was truthful at that press conference ( and I believe she was ) that is one brave ballsy girl. I hope she stays safe.

Regarding Shannan Gilbert. Does anyone thinks it's possible that as stated in the Killing Season show that at some point they said that she had "tumbled" down a flight of stairs outside the house. Could she of sustained a head injury ? A brain bleed but not necessarily a fractured skull which would of been evident at autopsy. The houses at the beach are high up on pilings. So probably a minimum of 10-12 stairs. If the landing of those steps was concrete it's possible. She runs off into the darkness. Adenaline pumping and the possibility of her have used cocaine that night. Her brain swelling as the bleeding inside continues ? She finally passes out in the marsh and succumbs ? They said she was found face up. That isn't consistent with drowning. ( the missing pants I can't seem to come up with a theory )
I don't think SG was the victim of the same person who murdered the GB4. Something set her off. I wish they would release the 911 call.
The girl didn't live a life the majority of us would consider optimal. But without HER none of those girls would of been found. Her death brought some closure and a proper burial for a lot of families.

While I've stayed on the fence as far as the quantity of killer(s), one thing that is troubling is that LH doesn't fit the description for Sugar Bear's "secret friend"

Odd that some don't have access to Reddit through google. I just accessed it, are there new FCC rules in place in the USA? Also checked the App Store and there does seem to be an app available in the UK at least.

I believe that despite LH's penchant for messing with escorts he tried to get out of the financial side. I've seen it here in the UK,men who resent that they need to pay for sex trying to steal back payments etc. Or refusing to pay or straight up forcing themselves on a woman who refuses to provide services until they've paid.

Some men who pay to play can turn quickly if their service provider does or says something unexpected or that they don't like. I've also heard of men trying to gain services not offered (uncovered services, CIM, Anal etc) and sometimes if an activity is not offered they will force it.

So that's just an insight into what may (or may not) have been happening in the minds of these persons of interest.

Not all men who pay are so disrespectful however, it is still a common occurrence in the UK. There are services here which allow escorts to be aware of potentially dangerous clients, escorts can search a phone number or a VRN (phone number is attached to every warning) which is a great resource to keep women involved in prostitution as safe as possible. I'm disappointed that a woman profiting from her own body is illegal in the US as it prevents such safety measures being set up. Had something similar have been available to the victims I believe whoever did this would have been on the radar of an independent organisation and possibly known to LE long before any of this happened (SCPD involvement included as a scheme such as this would know who else to contact in the event that an officer was involved)

There haven't been any developments released in the Sugar Bear case. There is some discussion about it throughout this thread, including the location of the body parts, which is significant.

I agree that anyone who is non gender conforming, especially in the sex industry, is at a high risk for being the victim of a violent crime. I believe that who Sugar Bear was last seen with was not someone in a first encounter but more of a closeted lover/date.

I'm enjoying hearing about how the sex industry differs in the UK. I'm not sure about the NY metro area but there are resources in other cities in the US. Unfortunately they are mostly grassroots non-profits that lack LE support/cooperation.
