First, White_Rabbit, thank you so much to you for the exhaustive amount of research you have done. I know many here have really put in effort to help and find the LISK, and I have watched now and then through the years to see and read just how committed so many here are to helping put pieces together, you very much included. It is scary to come forward. I'm just getting to the point in my life where I feel secure enough, and the PTSD is stable enough, that I can start talking about it a little more. Thank you, for all you've done, and thank you to everyone here.
I'm going to try to keep myself from flying off on tangents, because I know that is no help, and will just be confusing. I realized I started to do that, because of flashbacks. So, I'll try to be a little more concise, and not just start saying what comes to mind--because it won't be in linear order (8 years of friendship, a lot of memories and things come to mind). I'll add whatever input I can in bold italics, in the quotes you posted:
This case can be very confusing because there are so many different dimensions to it. The killings themselves can be broken down into three separate cases: I agree
1) Manslaughter of Shannan Gilbert by Peter Hackett and Michael Pak. Very probable so far as I'm concerned. I was in school to be an RN. I have enough knowledge in the area of pharmacology, that if Shannan was given street drugs, or even a combination of regular drugs, interactions could be lethal. However; along with this, if Shannan's hyoid bone was fractured, that's a really big indicator to me that she was strangled. I was of the thought that she was drugged, knew/could feel the drugs were not interacting with her system correctly, was terrified when the drugs were taking hold, and when the drugs didn't do her in, someone else strangled her, and disposed. Those are just my feelings/thoughts.
2) Murder of the Gilgo Beach 4 and Unidentified Asian Male by Unsub. I agree that I think Gilgo Beach 4 were one person/case. The Unidentified Asian Male is possible could fit in too, so far as I'm concerned, but I've never been able to wrap my head around that one, completely, because of the manner of death. Gilgo Beach 4 seemed to have an element of sexual sadism to me, whereas Unidentified Asian Male is unmitigated violence. It's possible that they are tied, somehow, I just can't make up my mind about it, yet.
3) Murder of the Jane Does by John Bittrolf. I agree with this too, that if Bittrolf was active at the time of the Jane Does, it makes sense.
Then there is another case of what looks like a coverup by elements of Suffolk County Law Enforcement:
4) Corruption, Obstruction of Justice and Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice by James Burke, Thomas Spota, Steve Bellone et al. Yes, I agree. In my experience, in Long Island, and not even specifically with SCPD, there is some sort of culture, where, police like to keep things internal to their group, and it is tight-knit, and you don't rat on your cohorts. You protect the "family" kind of thing, even if they do illegal things. It seems ratting out is not an option, not only because of loyalty, but because of the power others have in the circle and would use to destroy the rat's life.
I think Cases 1 and 4 are going to reach a state of critical mass very soon. I hope so, I truly do, and I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
Case 4 is a matter of tying John Bittrolf to the murders. He’s already in prison for two murders.
Case 2 is going to be prove to be difficult to crack without more evidence and help from the public. Yes, and this is what prompted me to post. I hope others do, too. You never know what might help.

The Gilgo Beach 4 were murdered by Unsub. The time frame matches and the modus operandi is identical.

Unidentified Asian Male was also murdered by Unsub, even though Asian Male was not strangled but was murdered by blunt force trauma to the head.

My theory regarding Unidentified Asian Male is that he was the first to meet with Unsub in 2006. Unsub realizes Unidentified Asian male is a transvestite, and in a fit of rage beats him to death as opposed to strangling him.
This could be so. Looking at the date, in regard to my POI1, I was living for a time away from him/the area, and was newly married, though we were in regular phone contact. I lack some information from that time frame.
Maureen Brainard-Barnes meets and is killed by Unsub in 2007.
I have little information to connect my POI1 with her, due to not being in the area, with him every day. I traveled to visit with him several times that year, but was not, again, there every day. The only connection I could make was the anomalous "like" he posted out of nowhere on his Facebook for Norwich, CT around that time, I believe--and not telling me what it was about, when I asked him directly.
Unsub has a traumatic or life changing event in 2008, i.e. loss of close relative or friend, injury, incarceration, relocation, etc..
Summer of 2008 he convinced me, and my husband, to move closer to him. We moved to West Babylon in June 2008, where he arranged for us to have an apartment next door to court officer. I was with him almost every day up until a family vacation late July 2008 where I went with my husband to visit his family overseas. I broke my leg while there, severely. The date I broke my leg was today, July 29, 2008. It also happened to be POI1s birthday. I will add more, below, where you ask specifically about 2008.
Melissa Barthelemy meets and is killed by Unsub in 2009.

Megan Waterman meets and is killed by Unsub in June 2010.
Agreed, though as of yet I have not had the courage to open my old laptop to read my 2010 journal and look through dates, to see if any coincide. I was going through a divorce, and he was around.
Amber Lynn Costello meets and is killed by Unsub in September 2010.
Same as above, and around this time is when POI1 dropped verbal contact with me, completely.
The victim's remains are discovered is December 2010, and Unsub stops using Ocean Parkway to dump his victims.
I agree with this. Whoever it was, I think, wanted to get the remains out of the way, and when discovered, didn't dare do it again in that area.
Unsub is still killing and using a different area to dump his victims.
This is likely, so far as I am concerned, as well.
My psychological profile of Unsub partially based on the FBI profile:
a. He is a white male in his mid-30s to mid-late-40s.
POI1 turns 45 today.
b. He is financially secure.
POI1 was still working, last I knew, and borrows thousands of dollars from others, and blows money like it's nothing. Was sued by POI2 (court case online) for thousands of dollars in monies owed.
c. He lives now or used to live on or near Ocean Parkway on the South Shore of Long Island.
POI1 lived in both West Babylon (with court officer), and in Bayshore (with POI2), as well as an earlier address with POI2 in Great Neck, NY, I believe.
d. He had a domineering mother.
POIs mother was excessively domineering, as was one of his two sisters.
e. He has relatives or close friends who are in law enforcement.
POI1 started his interest in police officers as a teen, enamored with his best friend's father who was a police officer. Later on, lived with court officer on and off, and lived with another police officer who was a client in Long Island who I didn't know, named Steve. Kept in touch with Steve and started living with POI2.
f. He has a summer job that allows him to commute between Long Island & New York City.
This does not fit POI1. He lives year round in Babylon, now, back with court officer, and has family in NYC. POI2 worked year round (I'm assuming he's retired now) in Penn Station/Times Square area, traveling by LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) to work from Bayshore, Long Island.
g. He has an explosive temper and a history of violent episodes.
POI1 would be more likely to bottle things up, seethe, and then seek vengeance by trying to destroy facets of someone's life. More likely to get beaten, than to do beating, but he did have episodes of crossing physical boundaries. POI2 I could see fitting the explosive temper and violent episodes much more.
h. He has a history of drug abuse.
POI1 snorted speed, took Adderall at times (without prescription), and used cocaine. I saw him do this in earlier years, in later years he kept it hidden, but I knew he was probably at least doing speed--he wouldn't sleep, many times, for days.
i. He dabbles in the occult.
POI1 did, a bit, but as I said, I don't know how far he went with it.
j. He has a criminal record.
POI1 should have had a criminal record. I knew he broke the law several times. But, he didn't, because his friends got him out of everything from speeding tickets, to trespassing, to probably petit larceny. I don't know, he was well-covered so far as protection from having a record.
k. He is very charming and attractive to women, especially those of the victims age group.
Yes.
l. He suffers from limerence and has a history of heartbreaking relationships with women.
Yes.
m. The victims remind him of a woman from a past heartbreaking relationship.
POI1 said he had a girlfriend when he was a teenager, I don't know if it was just a friend, or an actual relationship. She was petite and thin. I don't know what happened, but I believe she got rid of him. He was attracted to her older brother.
o. He was familiar to Megan Waterman and Amber Lynn Costello prior to the night he murdered them.
I agree, and think the killer was grooming them. In my case, POI1 groomed me, and pretty much any other woman he came into contact with. He was a somatic narcissist, and had no problem "love bombing" the hell out of women and making them feel like they were his only friend, and best person on earth, at times.
I saw this post by a member called inspctrgadget in the thread “Victim - Amber Lynn Costello”.
If anyone can ascertain the times or approximate times of the phone calls from Unsub to Amber Lynn Costello on the night of her disappearance, using this idea we could create a perimeter of the possible location of where Unsub lived in September 2010.
“This might be a long shot, but worth thinking about.
According to Dave Schaller, Amber received multiple calls on the day she disappeared. The last call came at 10:30 and she walked out "moments later".
So assume for a second that the serial killer called from his cell phone and said "I'm down the block - come meet me".
Now, assume for a second that the serial killer's previous call was made from his home. If we knew exactly what time the second-to-last call from Amber's phone, we could:
- estimate the SK's travel time taking into account the time it takes to put shoes on, get out to his car, traffic conditions at 10PM that night, local speed limits, highway vs. local miles, etc.
- determine the distance traveled by the SK (the radius)
- plot the circumference on a map, with the center being Amber's house on America Ave. in West Babylon
The serial killer should live somewhere on the perimeter of the circle, assuming our assumption was correct. Probably the closer the time period between the last call and the call just prior, the more accurate this method would be.
Does anyone remember Dave Schaller or Kim Overstreet mentioning anything about the timing of the last 2 calls?”
It would be great if that info could be figured out. Or, if anyone saw the car. At the time POI1 had a boxy Scion, grey in color, that POI2 gave him.
The Belt Evidence:
Unsub's initials could possibly be HM or MH, depending on which way the belt buckle was aligned.
I still don't have much info on this, or ideas, except that the "stamp" reminds me of POI1's handwriting.

The amount of research you did is amazing, White_Rabbit, in regard to the spreadsheet you put together, and research into the possible community where Unsub resides, or lived at the time. It does narrow things down a lot, and is a great piece of investigative work, so far as I'm concerned. It stands as a great piece of research, and is valuable.
My POIs, living in Bayshore/Baywood, were a bit closer to the Babylon area in general, and Gilgo. POI1 used Ocean Parkway a lot, he called it "the back way home," and would use it at night or when traffic was bad on the Southern State. I was in the car with him several times when he used it. As for the whole Babylon area and associated areas, he knew them very well.
I'm having some difficulty distinguishing the characteristics of and relationships between POI1, POI2 and the court officer. If you had to describe each as if they were characters in a story, how would you describe each of them and their relationships to each other?
Thanks for asking, I'm sorry--I can see it must be difficult to keep track/picture them, so I'll write descriptions, to hopefully help out.
POI1: My best male friend from ca. 2002 to 2010. About 6' tall, 34" waist, in good shape. Met him through a family member, female, who was ex-girlfriend to his former best friend. His reputation preceded him, and I almost didn't want to meet him/allow him in my house, because I had only heard bad things about him. Assured her and me he was "turning over a new leaf." Almost black hair, dark hazel-brown eyes, Mediterranean complexion. Looks probably most like the actors Gregory Peck (in his younger years), and Dan Levy. Very attracted to police officers. Highly proficient with computers and technology. Prostituted himself online through AOL chatrooms and word of mouth. Bisexual, but presented as gay. Into S/M and had a book on paraphilias when I met him, he didn't have many books, so I remembered that. Worked in Queens at airport as ticketing agent, may have been promoted. Spontaneous, easily distracted, liked to be the center of attention, seductive, on one hand...and on the other, vague, inappropriate emotional reactions, lack of empathy, lying bordering on pathological, caustic/vicious comments to others, occasional brooding, and withdrawing from contact with others for no apparent reason. 45 years old, today. Started "dating" court officer before 2002.
Court Officer: Well to do, divorced, high income, owns own house/s, laid back, sometimes oblivious to the obvious, alcohol issues and addictions to pain killers, about 6'1", overweight but lost close to 100 lbs., walks slow because of joint problems, Germanic/Nordic looking, short light hair turning grey, blue eyes, neat, denied relationship with POI1 (said he took him in because he felt bad for him), claimed to be asexual, generous with money, extremely extroverted, many friends, lived in West Babylon, had a sailboat at Oak Beach. Got POI1 out of trouble with traffic tickets, etc., had at least one other case dismissed because friends with judge. Not good with technology. 64 years old, now.
POI2: NYPD, trained other officers, in relationship of some sort with POI1 starting about 2005 around when I got married. Not wealthy, has house but was in debt, about 5'8", on the heavy side, walks slow, difficulty talking with others, dark hair going grey, blue eyes, methodical, suspicious/paranoid at times, could be crass, homosexual, prone to caustic comments (especially to women, but also to men), born in Ireland. Difficulty getting along with others, in general. No idea of computer/technology proficiency. About 62 years old.
As I stated in my theory regarding the killer of the Gilgo Beach 4 I believe that there was a break in the timeline in 2008, and that it was due to "a traumatic or life changing event during that time, i.e. loss of close relative or friend, injury, incarceration, relocation, etc..", can you remember if your POI experienced a traumatic or life changing event during 2008?
Yes. Summer of 2008 I moved to West Babylon. Today, this very day, in 2008, I broke my leg while on vacation in another country with my husband at the time to see his family. POI1 sent me an email saying, and I'm paraphrasing because I have to find the email again, 'Come back home soonly, I know you are sickly, but I need you. Things are not good, I'm crying while writing this.' I broke my leg on his birthday, that year. I wrote him back and asked what was wrong, he never answered my email, and when I asked what it was about on the phone, he wouldn't tell me. Today, he turns 45. When I could come home, he helped me significantly. I couldn't drive, and he took me to doctors appointments, spent time walking with me while I was recovering, and spent time with me at my house. This is part of why this is difficult for me. I loved him as my friend, though he had more than one side to himself, and shifting moods--and when they were bad, they were bad, and with no warning. During this time, POI1s relationship with POI2 was going through difficulty and strain, and some issues of severe jealousy were apparently creeping up on POI2's side. He would say things to POI1 like, "I'm going to take away your gay card," tease him, or belittle him. A lot of that was going on in 2008.
