A major air, land and sea search has been mounted in the Outer Hebrides for a missing 17-year-old school girl who disappeared on the way to meet her mother.

Hannah Mackenzie, from Gravir on Lewis, was last seen outside the Nicholson Institute school in Stornoway at 4pm yesterday.

Searches are currently being concentrated in the grounds of Lews Castle in Stornoway where there was possible sighting of Hannah on Thursday night.
