Operation Cross Country VII video"

Thank you for linking this here! I'm so pleased with this news!!!! Yay!!!!

I'm surprised there weren't any busts in NY and DC given the population density in both cities. This extensive list is crazy! Never expected Denver to have so many busts in this case!

Also, looks like Backpage played a major role in these pimps promoting the victims for prostitution :(

It's crazy how the Internet has provided a way for these sickos to network!

What is backpage? I can't research at the moment. TIA

Videos included.

"Alex was 16 years old and desperate. She turned to prostitution and later fell under the influence of a pimp and her family. “At first it was terrifying, and then you just kind of become numb to it,” she said. “You put on a whole different attitude—like a different person. It wasn’t me. I know that. Nothing about it was me.”

Two years later, Alex bravely contacted the FBI, and her cooperation helped us send two pimps to prison and facilitate the recovery of other underage victims. Today, with support from the Bureau’s Office for Victim Assistance, Alex is turning her life around. She earned her high school diploma, is living on her own, and has plans to attend college. She wants to become an advocate for young victims of sexual exploitation.

“What happened to me happened, and I can’t change it,” she said. “I can only change my future.”

Special Agent Kurt Ormberg, who helped recover Alex and put her pimp behind bars, explained that children who are most susceptible to sexual exploitation have a void in their lives. “That void might be related to family, food, or shelter, but it’s a void that needs to be filled, and pimps fill it.” And after they nurture their victims, he said, they sexually exploit them. “Too often,” Ormberg added, “these young victims don’t think they have anywhere else to turn.”

“I was very lucky to be able to walk away,” Alex said. “I never got hurt, so I’m really, really lucky. I’m one of the few that can say that.” Without the help of the FBI, she added, “I probably would have ended up dead."

I am not sure if this fits into this forum thread or not (please feel free to move or even delete if necessary) as this scathing investigative report is about American "parents" looking to terminate their international adoption. It's a five part series about the underworld of basically advertising and trading/selling their no longer wanted adopted child (usually foreign born) online. It's utterly disgusting and beyond abhorrent. I just really think people need to know that this is going on right under our noses and there's no one doing a darn thing about it… :pullhair:
No matter the adopted parents intentions, the fact of the matter is is that all parties involved in this "re-homing" are perpetuating, either directly or indirectly, the vileness that is human trafficking and sex trafficking, not to mention contributing to abuse of all sorts and creating an all-too-easy supply of readily available children - a predators dream come true. As someone who worked in various orphanages in Russia and have seen firsthand just how vulnerable these needy kids are who are already abandoned within their own country, let alone abandoned/neglected over and over in their new country. Ugh… My words can't express the feelings enough. Sorry to go on and on about this; please read and watch about it from the below sources. Thank you

"Nagy knows what it’s like to be enslaved.

When she came to Toronto from Hungary in 1998, the Budapest native thought she had landed a summer gig babysitting and housekeeping.

Soon she found out she was dead wrong.

“When I arrived at the airport, they took me to a motel and they told me that I owed them so much money, and they took me to a strip joint to pay off my debt,” Nagy said.

Her employers took away her documents and forbade her from leaving. For three months she was forced to work at a strip club. Her freedom came when she was taken to a different strip club, where employees realized she needed to be rescued"

I looked but didn't see a thread on this...

http://www.kvue.com/news/state/Fort...s-first-human-trafficking-case-224437701.html

FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth man with a dozen prior convictions was sentenced on Wednesday to 99 years in prison for raping a child and attempting to sell her for sex.

This creep knew the young girl since she was a baby. He was like a uncle to her. He attended church with her and her family that morning and went to their home after church. Then...

Later that day, Davis invited the victim to his east Fort Worth residence, where he lived with his girlfriend and her three children. McDonald said he sent them to run errands after the girl arrived and raped her before they returned. Afterward, he took her to a bar in the 3300 block of East Lancaster Ave. and told her to say “yes” to any man he brought to the car.

I hope this girl gets good care for healing from this. How awful to know and trust someone all your life and have them do this.

I'm thankful justice was served and he will never have the chance to prey on anyone again.

Thank you for bringing this very important topic forward- it isn't pretty- it's downright horrifying and heartbreaking but we must begin to address it!

This is truly shocking and disgusting, wondering how many victims ever made it out alive. Some of these women and children could have been dumped off or sold anywhere around the world.
Modern day slave ships imo. Just found a Ws thread about this!
Native Canadian women sold on U.S. ships, researcher says - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

From SB's article, thanks.

"An American researcher says First Nations women from Thunder Bay, Ont., have been sold on ships in the harbour at Duluth, Minn.

Christine Stark said the port at Duluth is notorious among First Nations people as a site for trafficking women.

The masters student at the University of Minnesota Duluth said she has anecdotal reports of women, teenage girls and boys, as well as babies being sold on ships for sex.

The Ontario Native Women's Association says it also has anecdotal reports of women being trafficked across borders, or provincial boundaries, into the sex trade. (Istock)

"The women and children — and I've even had women talk about a couple of babies brought onto the ships and sold to the men on ships — are being sold or are exchanging sex for alcohol, a place to stay, drugs, money and so forth.," Stark said. "It's quite shocking."

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/28/chinese-rescue-kidnapped-children-gang

"Chinese police have rescued 92 children and two women kidnapped by a gang for sale and arrested 301 suspects, state media said on Saturday.

Police simultaneously swooped on locations in 11 provinces on 11 September after a six-month investigation, China Central Television and state news agency Xinhua said, quoting the ministry of public security.

State media did not give a breakdown of how many boys and how many girls were kidnapped or give a reason for the delay in reporting the operation.

A traditional preference for boys, especially in rural areas, and a strict one-child policy have contributed to a rise in the trafficking of children and women in recent years"

"Child-trafficking has become a serious problem in China, correspondents say.

Critics blame the country's one-child policy and lax adoption laws, which they say have created a thriving underground market for buying children.

Some families buy trafficked women and children to use as extra labour and household servants, as well as brides for unmarried sons."

http://www.calgarysun.com/2013/12/09/human-trafficking-enforcement-team-launched

"OTTAWA - The Mounties now lead a national human trafficking enforcement team, Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney said.

He announced the team Monday in Montreal, fulfilling a promise made during the June 2012 launch of Canada's national strategy to combat the trafficking of people into forced prostitution or labour.

"Our government will continue to strengthen its efforts as new knowledge and information about the scope and nature of the despicable crime of modern-day slavery in Canada comes to light," Blaney said in a statement Monday"
