JULY 30: Father of missing Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts wants help, not sympathy

"More than two weeks ago, Rob Tibbetts talked to his 20-year-old daughter in Iowa on the phone for three hours. She disappeared three days later."

Authorities, including the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, have asked the family not to comment on the timeline, search or investigation. Richard Rahn, special agent in charge for the major crime unit, said about 10 local state, and federal agencies are involved with the case. Between 30 and 40 agents work on it each day.

Mollie Tibbetts investigation: 'We are not giving up on any possible leads'

During a news conference Tuesday at the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office in Montezuma, Kevin Winker, assistant director of the Iowa Department of Public Safety, said investigators are continuing to follow up on all new leads they receive, but he declined to give specifics.

Poweshiek County Sheriff Thomas Kriegel said "in excess of 200 leads have been followed up on." Those include ground, air and K-9 unit searches. There are upwards of 30 to 40 investigators working on the case every day, he said.

State investigators have said they are pursuing all leads and have conducted multiple searches. Last week, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said detectives have not identified any suspects in Tibbetts' disappearance.

After hundreds of volunteers turned out to comb through cornfields and the rural roads of Poweshiek County, those search efforts were deserted last week in favor of investigative experts who were retracing areas she frequently ran.

As search for Mollie Tibbetts continues, investigators 'have not ruled out any possibilities'

Winker reiterated Tuesday that no suspects have been identified, stating “We are pursuing every lead that is available to us.”

When asked if her disappearance is now considered an abduction, Winker said, “We do not know where Mollie’s at right now and I am not going to draw any conclusion about the circumstances of her disappearance, other than it is not consistent with her past.”

"That first search on July 20, at least 250 people showed up to help," He said. "We had firefighters and emergency personnel from all the stations within a 20-mile radius come out and ... those who couldn't search due to age or physical limitations volunteered to cook for us."

Kriegel said the volunteers were divided into 40 teams, and ear was given a square mile of land to search, "checking farmland, ditches, streams and culverts."

The Latest: Missing student had trip planned for wedding | WTOP

Blake Jack says his brother Dalton and Dalton’s longtime girlfriend, 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts, were supposed to be there when he married his fiancee, Aimee Houghton. He says he joked with his brother that he should propose to Tibbetts during the trip.

Blake Jack says the cancelled wedding plans are nothing compared to what the town is going through. He’s urging anyone with information that may be relevant to Tibbetts’ disappearance to report it to authorities.

Investigators still baffled by disappearance of Iowa student

Blake Jack told The Associated Press on Tuesday that on July 18, he was visiting his fiancee, Aimee Houghton, in Ames, where she is working this summer. He said his brother was working a job for their family construction company about 100 miles away in Dubuque.

Neighbor Dave Collum, a retired maintenance director for the school district, said he was interviewed by investigators who told him that data from Tibbetts' Fitbit showed she jogged past his home that evening and made it home from the run safely. He said investigators told him she was doing homework on her computer later that evening.

College sophomore Mollie Tibbetts still missing after two weeks of searching

Mollie's college roommate Ali told Dateline she and Mollie have already signed a lease on an apartment for the upcoming school year. As she prepares to return to the University of Iowa in a couple of weeks, Ali says she isn’t sure how it will feel if Mollie isn’t there with her.

Rob said that while his daughter studies psychology, writing poetry has always been one of her passions.

This is a little tangential, but In Iowa, 48 juveniles have gone missing in July. Here's why that number may be misleading.

Forty-eight Iowa juveniles have gone missing so far in July, a development that has sparked a flood of social media warnings and theories. However, that number becomes less shocking in a review of missing persons statistics.

Heavy regional news coverage of the disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts, 20, of Brooklyn, Iowa, about 60 miles east of Des Moines, has led to more focus on missing children. While a missing child is certainly cause for worry, concern has morphed into rumors that make it appear as though every child who goes missing is the victim of abduction or sex trafficking.

Each entry on the Department of Public Safety's website is a separate incident, not a separate person, which makes the data more difficult to interpret. A single juvenile can be listed in several cases throughout the year, depending on how often the youth goes missing.

It then continues with a ton of data and statistics about missing youth and whatnot.

Mother Of Missing Iowa Woman Speaks Out

"To the best of my knowledge, I believe she did make it home from the run and was in Dalton's home."

The family says evidence shows Tibbetts was doing homework on her computer after her jog that night. Authorities won't confirm or deny that -- saying they don't want to reveal too much.

"The first night she went missing I was distraught. I knew her phone was dead, but I sent her a text saying I love you, we're looking for you, we will find you no matter what," Calderwood said.

The father of 20-year-old college student Mollie Tibbetts said in an exclusive interview with Fox News Channel Wednesday that “the bottom line is somebody knows something” regarding the mysterious disappearance of his daughter.

Rob Tibbetts, urging the public to come forward, said in a small city like Brooklyn, Iowa, “you can’t do anything there without someone seeing it.”

Tibbetts said Mollie always carried her iPhone around and “like every other young person her age she is constantly online.”

“It’s absolutely not like Mollie to not respond to her phone,” Tibbetts told Fox News.

Tibbetts is a UI psychology major involved in Dance Marathon and works on campus at the Eckstein Medical Research Building Café.

Tibbetts’ brother, Jake Tibbetts, said the last time he saw Mollie, he was dropping her off at her boyfriend’s house. “She was in contact with her boyfriend later into the night and doing homework on her computer. That’s the last we know of her whereabouts.”
