South Iceland Police are searching for an American man of Indian descent, Jaspinderjit Singh, who has been missing since October 13. He arrived in Iceland the day before on a layover before catching a flight to Paris on the 13 and then scheduled to return to the US on October 19.
His girlfriend wrote on Instagram that the last she knew he was checking out at the HI Hostel by Skógafoss waterfall. She describes Jaspinderjit as 1.73 metres tall, being of Indian descent and that he was last seen wearing a black Puma jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, black pants, Nike sneakers and carrying a North Face backpack. She also wrote that he typically wears plastic black rimmed glasses.
His rental car was found in a parking lot by the trail leading to the wreck of a US Navy Douglas Dakota DC3 plane on Sólheimasandur beach. The wreck is a popular tourist destination, as are the black sand beaches of South Iceland. Skógar, where Jaspinderjit was last seen is less than 10 km (6 mi) to the west of the plane wreck.
