My opinion of parents having a say is purely based off of an interview I saw on the news where it was mentioned his car was in mothers name. She owns the car, so he can’t sell it or get rid of it legally without telling her.

Also, I know plenty of people in phd graduate school programs aged 26-30 who could not work and student loans didn’t cover complete living expenses. So trips home for Christmas and car fixes were usually paid for by parents.

I know it sounds odd.

But you’d be shocked by the number of 30 and under young adults still being financially supported by their families. Especially those in school still trying to get advanced degrees.

Again, I could be way way off… and completely wrong.

Was just throwing out ideas.

I've been wondering if the glove wearing was because he had bad cuts to his hands from stabbing 4 victims and was trying to hide that fact. His DNA at the scene might be from blood from his own wounds.

Did your brother ASK your father to accompany him, or did your father want to do so...maybe to spend more time with him. Now, I admit, we don't know what occurred in this case, but ...MOO...I don't think the father took the initiative to fly and drive back with BK just to spend *quality* time with him. That's where I was coming from (BK *calling the shots*). If I'm wrong on that assumption, then your point is well taken.

I'm not sure whose idea it was. I guess what I was saying is I just don't understand why anyone thinks it's unusual to NOT want to drive across the country alone. There's more safety in numbers.

When a person is in grad school it frequently puts them in a position and their parents in the position of delayed emanicipation. My ex was a specialist in the medical field with several graduate degrees and his,parents helped him through schools till he was done. My daughter has three degrees and it was the same. Until they are done with school, many parents help,out both financially and physically. (Sure I can pick you up. Hey let me help you move). My child who did not go to grad school had an uncomfortable break up involving a baby and I asked my daughter to go half way across the country and drive home with him. She did. BK is a PHD student in his late twenties. The parents are behaving pretty normally. Grad school is rough financially if you don’t have that support. MOO

I am assuming that only 3 people lived in the house. Packaging from food would have at least one profile on it. I was kidding about the paper towels and kleenex. Recycling bins, if they have them, would have opened mail. Really, all they needed was one parent's DNA. That would have given them a 50% match, because BCK had to have gotten half his genes from his mom.

However, it should not be too difficult to get items touched by father, as well. Disposable razor. Beverage cans or bottles (from either parent). They had dogs, someone opened the dog food and fed them. Almost everything in the trash would have someone's DNA on it - and again, they only need one parent's DNA (just like a paternity test) to know that the man (or woman) living in that house is BCK's parent. They had their man at that point.

If it was trash that nailed him, I wonder how many items they tested. Intriguing that they may not have actually obtained any of BK’s DNA on the trash, and only his parents. He had to know it didn’t matter as long as they were his bio-parents.

This is a worthwhile read for those interested in the methods of Katherine Ramsland, the professor BK studied with at Desales in PA. She is known for cultivating a relationship with Dennis Rader (BTK) and subsequently publishing a book based on their exchanges that was 80% Rader's words. This is an extremely interesting angle. I was even curious if his name might be tagged on any research papers or additional research studies from DeSales or elsewhere. The professor you mention here might be a good place to start.

STRICTLY OPINION:

I’m beginning to think he planned this all along including a variety of defense scenarios hoping that someone like Dr Katherine Ramsland would write a book about him.

That may not have been his original goal, but somewhere along his educational path while in college the more he learned about killers the more they began to intrigue him. If all the stories about him being awkward and not fitting in just imagine how superior he would feel ‘if a book was written about him and how clever he was and how many LE and FBI personnel were needed to apprehend him!’( my speculation on his feelings)

I don’t think it would matter who wrote the book, I used her name because of the college affiliation.

All just my opinion

I want him to sit in a cell with life size photos of the four he killed laughing & enjoying life staring at him during every moment of his future existence.

They matter. He OTOH is merely a postscript in history. To live well is everything he is not.

IMO- the car was apparently his mother’s so he couldn’t up and sell it on his own (need to transfer the title, etc.) So in order to distance himself from that scrutiny, parents need to be involved somewhat.

Also, if reports of past heroin addiction (and subsequent rehab) are to be believed, I think it’s safe to assume his folks might be more concerned with his well-being. Also sounds like this is his first attempt at living alone long-distance from them, so there’s that. Seems like kids these days take a bit longer to “launch” & from all accounts his parents were good people, so they may have been a little more “hands-on” than we might normally expect at that age. Just my opinion.

Why didn’t the dad just save the cost of his flight and fly BK to PA? Makes more sense, unless of course the car was the concern. What exactly did he tell his dad to get this particular scenario carried out?

Well, the community was on the lookout for a white Elantra, so he had to get it out of the area. I'm not sure what excuse he would have told his parents re: driving vs flying back to PA, but If his parents are supportive (and it sounds like they were), it's not surprising that one of his parents might fly out to help him drive back to PA if BK insisted on driving back. Sounds like something my dad would offer to do if I insisted on driving home for the holidays.

You know, when I was in first grade (not joking) we had 2 extremely disturbed and violent children in our class. You wanna talk about a class full of traumatized 6 year olds? We were regularly told to run out into the hallway for our safety.

i am a teacher and there have been a few years where kids have worried me or seem to be flat out sociopaths. The teachers notice and the other children notice. One student tried to kill his baby brother. Constantly lied. He will be 18 soon and i worry I'll see him on the news. There are often signs, and even the parents see them.

I saw this story earlier but it just feels like another person trying to involve themselves in this story. It’s probably a small academic field at that level, of course there will be a lot of commonalities.

IMO, BK may have asked the question regarding the arrest of anyone else because he wanted an exculpatory statement from LE or anyone else present that may help his defense should he face trial. It's my opinion only that this person was playing a cat and mouse game every day for many years. The following article explains this.

Wouldn't his school mates/students see if he had cuts on hands/arms or face? If he wore a mask/headcover/kill suit, maybe he was protected. Would he have sweated and dropped some on bodies? Sexual assault wasn't found but what if the murders were a sexual turn on and he left that evidence unknowingly? Also, maybe he left the knife sheath by accident if he had more of a fight then he anticipated. But he couldn't go back in to get it? Anyway, imo IMO jmo..
