Can the family request an autopsy? I’m not saying that think one should be done, just curious if that’s something family can request.

Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office said Hendrichs’ family members have been notified. The medical examiner in Umatilla County is not requesting an autopsy, according to Capt. Timothy Fox with Oregon State Police, the agency handling the investigation.

It probably was pretty good climb up that grade, hope she didn't suffer. There's not much up there if memory serves. No gas stations or stores last time we were up there. Just the casino at the bottom of the hill. MOO

Sad to hear this news, yet happy that she was found rather quickly. Cases like this just shows us that sometimes the spouses aren’t guilty. I know that I was diagnosed bi-polar over 20 years ago and my family doesn’t know. My husband is the only family member who knows and a couple of friends. My husband has become well aware of when I am headed to a manic state and handles it and me. Not all families share everything and I am VERY close to mine but keep my mental health personal. I have learned to cover pretty well with people I talk to every day.

Missing Star woman's family pleads for help: 'Every day has been like a new funeral' | ktvb.com

"Her husband, John Hendricks, told KTVB on Saturday that she left their home at about 9:15-9:30 on Jan. 11 in a state of distress."

I've read the account of how she was loved by many, had the same job for 37 years, etc., etc., but what about the above? Any explanation as to why she left home with an insufficient amount of gas in the vehicle, and was "in a state of distress"?

I'm surprised no autopsy was requested, I guess we trust the ME is making the right call. I'm so sad Deborah died alone in the middle of nowhere, my thoughts are with her loved ones.

Perhaps there was no autopsy because her next of kin did not wish one to be performed. Sufficient explanation was given that would make an autopsy unnecessary.

I'd definitely suspect the husband if it wasn't for 1) the witness at the house who saw him shirtless/chasing Deborah and asking to call 911, and 2) the snow plow driver seeing her and speaking with her.

Is it possible the husband followed her up there and killed her near where her car conveniently ran out of gas and then drove back to his house and nobody noticed he was gone for hours or saw him or anything? I dunno, maybe. It seems unlikely. And it does sound like, even though the sister claims Deborah had no mental health issues, she did confirm that Deborah was concerned about the upcoming switch in our country's leadership. And that lines up with some pretty prevalent conspiracy theories, that also line up with what Deborah's husband claims she said / did the morning she left.

So... I'm inclined to believe she froze to death after running out of gas and leaving her vehicle.

Yes. I'm sure you're right. It just bothers me that there's no autopsy. I mean, what could be the harm? Sounds like there were definitely some mental health issues going on though. She just didn't seem to be thinking rationally.
