Saw this sad case online.
I'm guessing they didn't call 911 as the state of Damari's poor little body couldn't be observed due to other trauma ?
In a way I'm grateful for the colder weather as evidence will have been preserved.
A freezing cold shower or bath has to be horrifically painful. :(
Only 6 years old.
No one in that household thought to stop the abuse ? :mad:

I was able to get to the Public access page of Lake Cty Courts. Looks like Jeremiah Perry will have a 'Status of Attorney' Court Event on January 11th at 9 am.

I'm imagining that he was the charged 'sibling' who assisted the 'mother' in effecting the punishment of keeping sweet Damari in the cold shower for the extended period of time until he became unresponsive and died.

I'm certain Damari must have fought like hell to scramble out of that torture chamber with his survival instinct as anyone would ... only to have his 'brother' smash, batter and beat him back in or to prevent his exit.

Have they charged this crew with torture? If not, they should.

Perry (6) was last seen in Skokie with his 16-year-old sister at her friend's home around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, reported missing Jan. 5, 2022, Chicago & found deceased late Friday night Jan. 7, 2022 near an abandoned house in the 700 block of Van Buren St. in Gary; in truth Damari died on Dec. 30, 2021 during a punishment from his “mom”) - only for *Jannie M. Perry (38) "Mom" arrested (1/7/22) & charged (1/8/22) with 1st degree murder, obstructing justice (because of fake “story”) & concealment of a homicidal death.
*Jeremiah Perry (20) "brother" arrested (1/7/22) & charged (1/8/22) with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a child under 12, concealing a homicidal death & obstructing justice (because of fake “story”). $3M bond set on 1/9/22.
*Juvenile (16) "sister" arrested (1/7/22) who is also believed to be responsible for his death, faces charges in Lake County’s Juvenile Court in Waukegan. Has not been named.

1/8/22 Update: Mother & son were expected to appear in Cook County bond court on Sunday 1/9/22 for a hearing while a juvenile sibling of Damari, who is also believed to be responsible for his death, faces charges in Lake County’s Juvenile Court in Waukegan.
1/9/22 Update: Prosecutors say the mother charged with killing Damari Perry “punished” the boy with the help of a sibling & kept him in a cold shower for an extended period before he died at their North Chicago home. Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kyle Doyle said the family of Damari reported that the boy “did something that the mother felt needed to be punished for” on December 30. That same day, Damari was put into a tub or shower with the cold water on for an “extended period of time,” Doyle said. Damari vomited & became unresponsive. It was determined the boy was deceased but no one in the family called 911, Doyle said. Doyle said that Jannie Perry & Jeremiah Perry discussed how to dispose of the body & ended up taking the body to Indiana. Doyle asked for the court to impose a $3 million bond, while Jeremiah Perry’s attorney, Assistant Public Defender Divina Ayala, asked the court to impose a $20,000 bond. Prosecutors indicated that more charges could be filed as the investigation continues & the autopsy is completed (should be Monday 1/10/22). Jeremiah Perry is on probation for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 4 felony, in Cook County. Lake County Circuit Judge Stacey Seneczko ordered Jeremiah Perry to be held in the Lake County Jail on a $3 million bond. She also ordered Jeremiah Perry to have no contact with any of his family members. Seneczko noted during the bond hearing that Jannie Perry, who is in police custody & was also expected to appear in court Sunday morning, was no longer on the docket for the morning bond hearing. By late Friday evening, FBI agents and North Chicago detectives had focused their investigation on the mother and the adult siblings.

Information from witnesses led to the discovery of Damari’s body near an abandoned house in the 700 block of Van Buren Street in Gary, Indiana, according to police and the state’s attorney’s office.

wonder if one of them flipped on the others or if someone not in custody was the key witness leading to the body's discovery.

Poor little guy, he must have been so cold and scared. I'll never ever understand people who treat their young like this. Like how can you harm someone so small and helpless?

North Chicago police say she was taken to the hospital on Saturday after complaining that she was ill.

Just my opinion, but "Momma" cryin' about Chest pain and Shortness of Breath from a full blown panic attack caused by your own actions will not stop the Justice Train from rollin'. We see you, 'Momma'

Shortly after Damari was born on Dec. 30, 2015, he also went into foster care. DCFS records show that Perry regained custody of her children in 2017.

In May 2021, the spokesman said, DCFS investigated an allegation of abuse or neglect involving Damari, but the report was later determined to be unfounded. 1/10/22 Update: Jannie: Perry was also scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday but did not appear. She also did not appear in Monday morning bond court. North Chicago police say she was taken to the hospital on Saturday after complaining that she was ill causing her initial bond hearing to be delayed. Perry is under police custody at a local hospital & will be taken to bond court when she is medically discharged from the hospital, police said.
