Sheriff’s Office seeks information on missing Royal Lakes woman

http://www.thetelegraph.com/news/11...eeks-information-on-missing-royal-lakes-woman

The Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons call in reference to Denita M. Hedden, 37, of the 700 block of Catalpa Ave., Royal Lakes, on Sunday, Jan. 28 around 11:49 a.m. Hedden was reported missing by her roommate and hasn’t been seen since Jan. 27 around 2 p.m., when she left her residents, authorities said

Change of story:

After talking to more people police now think she may have been missing since Thursday (January 25). Hedden’s birthday was Thursday and her roommate told investigators that she was going out to celebrate. Hedden borrowed her roommate’s truck Thursday night. The truck returned back to the house sometime late Thursday or early Friday but Hedden did not.

Her family said her roommate is actually her fiancé.

A lot of my friends are friends with her. My kids went to Gillespie school. We lived in the area from '95 to '10. So sad to see this and being so close to some I know.

Many of her FB friends have posted her picture with her missing information. She is obviously well loved by friends and family. The only confusing bit as aside from the mention of children, two friends mentioned her "spouse", yet the media refers to "roommate. The vehicle returning but not her is troublesome. I'm from IL. Royal Lakes Crime stats for violent crime are almost double that of the national average, and much higher than Illinois as a whole (including Chicago). http://www.areavibes.com/royal+lakes-il/crime/ The average home price is $55,000 (average for the state is $199,000) and the average income per capita (all adults and children) is a little over $18,000 and unemployment is almost 6%. That can up the crime stats if you have low income and higher unemployment., https://www.bestplaces.net/economy/city/illinois/royal_lakes. On the positive side, it's a small town rural town with less than 200 people. Someone has to have seen or heard something.

Royal lakes is also a town you blink and can miss it.
Saying most homes are 55K is giving alot.

couple of things. Where did she go to celebrate her Birthday? Did her roommate/fiance go as well? Does anything look out of sorts around the truck? Is the seat set at a position that she would have driven it? IMO

Those crime "stats" are absolutely not accurate. This is a very small town in the middle of Macoupin County near where I live. Perhaps the proximity to East St. Louis has skewed those statistics.

Her roommate is her fiance. Praying for a safe return.

could her roommate/fiance be female? Not that it matters but I kinda assumed it was and others kinda assumed it to be a male. Of course, I don't read SM so y'all are probably more in the know than me.

Regardless, it has been at least 5 days... not good at all. Come home, Ms. Aquarius!

The stats are not the number of crimes but the number per 100,000 of population. If you have a town of 2 hundred and do the math, it would be an average of 1.3 violent crimes in the survey period for the actual population group. It's confusing that they print it out that way though, I agree. Thanks for clearing it up about the fiance, the mention of a spouse on social media may be from "friends" who really don't know her relationship status.

Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl has called in the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to help in the search of a missing 37-year-old Royal Lake woman.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is investigating the disappearance of a Metro East mother of four last seen on Jan. 25, calling it "extremely suspicious" that she hasn't been heard from.
An acquaintance reported Denita Hedden, 37, missing on Jan. 28, telling Macoupin County deputies that she was last seen leaving her home in Royal Lakes at about 2 p.m.

Royal Lakes is a village about 35 miles northeast of St. Louis with a population of about 200.
Madison County Sheriff's Lt. Kris Tharp, who is the deputy commander of the Major Case Squad, said Hedden is normally "very engaged in her family, friends and children."

"Based on the duration alone and her absence in the community, a great concern has risen and that's why we're involved," Tharp said of the Major Case Squad, which typically only responds to homicides. "This disappearance based on the totality of the circumstances as we know them is certainly suspicious. I, as the deputy commander of this squad, am definitely concerned for her wellbeing and safety."

Tharp said Hedden has four children, who are all "old enough to know their mother isn't home." He said they live with another relative, but that Hedden has daily contact with her children.
