My middle daughter disappeared 28 days before she turned 18. I did all the things I was supposed to do. Immediately filed the missing persons report. Gave LE all the info I could and yet 2 weeks later I found out they never filed the report. Don't even think the color of ones skin makes a difference in these cases. Nearly adult and barely adult missing persons are not taken seriously until either they see proff of danger or attorneys start getting involved. From around 16 and up they just blow it off.

Amen.

At around 7 seconds on this version is the one I have referred to where she pops out of a wall. Pls take note that the red boxes are not in this one .

This has been the pattern with all of them. Some have them some dont know.

There are two sets.

So we have to conclude , that at one level all segments have been altered in one visible way - someone took the time to go through and remove the red boxes on all videos released.

In truth , in this day and age the notion that it takes a mastermind to remove or add images to some digital media can only be done by Disney- is just not true.

There are 13 year olds that are adding moving deleting mixing objects on equipment that does not break the bank.

Wouldn't it be more realistic that the hotel has various security camera make/models that have different features as opposed to the hotel staff conspiring to alter footage? JMO

I think this sounds about right actually. I live about 15 miles from NYC and it takes about 45-60 mins to get home driving and 1-3 hours on Public Transport depending which method. When I used to hang out and get wasted in the city I would definitely take that train ride home to shower and pass out in my own bed.

That's what made me think she thought the doors lead outside and it was like a "OMG Finally I can get out" using all her energy.

Oh, I agree, (both topics). I've visited Chicago and NYC, but I live in a town in the Appalachian foothills that's about the size of a postage stamp. It literally takes me about :15 minutes to go :15 miles, unless I get caught behind a tractor, then, maybe :20 minutes. I go to our nearest city and my vocabulary becomes much more colorful.

I realize that. I've been in tech for over have my life. However, as OP stated, and I have stated, before, private companies do not have to turn over the video to anyone w/o a missing persons file being submitted and LE filing for it. The cameras are there to protect the motel. The video may not have even been stored onsight, to PREVENT, anyone from manipulating it. It was a weekend, with a skeleton night crew and changing into a morning crew at that time. There very well could have been no one to give them the vids. I don't think they have a giant panel like NASA, with 15 people viewing motel vids. In a casino? Probably. Again, not for the patron's sake, but for the casino's. We have a fourth amendment, Folks rent rooms, and it's considered private. If it were all so simple, LE would not have spent 11 man hours searching the motel.

Also, KJ wasn't a registered guest at the hotel. That may have played a role in how much responsibility the hotel felt it had to locate her.

almost 99% of walk ins lock behind you and when it does (if youve never had it happen) the first thing that sets in is panic! Most dont know how to open them from inside either, certainly not someone who isnt familiar with them. Maybe now days they have them so they dont lock or are easier to get out of but usually youd have to know what to look for as it isnt on the handle and doesnt look like anything that will open the door from inside. Maybe they have said if this particular one did or not and I didnt see that.
Im going to go back and read thru this thread before my next comment.

Okay, so this is something I came up with after watching the footage and comparing it to maps / images.

Orange dashed lines note names that don't match up on both maps.

I'm 97% sure she was on the conference level and not the lobby based on looking at the meeting rooms / layout and of course lack of people. It's not the same level as those elevators posted earlier.

I think she was around the Midway Auditorium in those hallway videos based off the door placement. ( Those double doors might the doors to Airport Accommodations / Kitty Hawk ) Basically I think the kitchen area would've been somewhere under the area you guys were looking at.

The only issue I have with that theory is on this one map ( blue ) the stairs over there are labeled as escalators. If that's true then my theory about her whereabouts makes less sense. IMO that's the only place that makes sense via maps we have access to though. This is also assuming that I interpreted the order of the surveillance footage right based on layout.

I turned the maps on their side so you can see the alignment of the stairs she possibly tripped over and the double doors in the background.

This is brilliant!!! Thank you for doing this! I one hundred percent agree with your assessment of where she was.

I am sticking with my theory that she was trying to find a bathroom. Did you notice on the white map on the right, there is no women's room? There is a men's room and a all genders bathroom. I wonder what the sign on the gender neutral bathroom door looks like. In her state, that certainly could have confused her if she was looking for a ladies room. It could have caused her to continue further down the hall and wander into the kitchen.

Also, KJ wasn't a registered guest at the hotel. That may have played a role in how much responsibility the hotel felt it had to locate her.

I'd not thought of that prior, but you are right. None of them were, actually,

It was also determined, police said, that the room used for the party was paid for with a “fraudulent credit card obtained through identity theft.”

And, fwiw:
Rosemont police opted to make the videos public during a press conference held by Jenkins’ mother’s attorneys — during which those attorneys repeatedly said they had been shown only a few “snippets” of video from the night Jenkins died. A day earlier, the Crowne Plaza had issued a statement offering to show Jenkins’ family all 36 hours of footage in private.

kitchen red boxes

can someone explain why in kitchen the second red box fires up when she is nowhere near it goes off then comes back on when she is in it??

food for thought !!

we are not allowed (!) to have red boxes mean stuff sometimes and not others !!

that is cheating !!

cause there is a person behind the pole is why
!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been on it before, too. I assume you weren't drinking alcohol at the time. I wasn't either. We also don't know what form it was in. Anyway, I doubt these kids had it in the first place.

I worked at a Long Term Care Pharmacy for over 10 years and our larger pharmacies "management" crew was all fired in 1 day including a drug order technician. Their CII (All Narcotic drugs) shipment arrived and ironically the cameras were turned off during that shipment. They never recovered that CII order of Narcotics. You be surprised how easy anyone can get their hands on it and for the sake of their own job.

I didnt have to read too far as well as look at their SM accounts to form my opinion that they all know damn well what happened. This is horrible...I hope all of them are nailed.

Has anybody managed to find the video of her walking into the(a?) kitchen from the other angle. I saw it a few times but haven't been able to find it again.

Saturday, about 3:24 a.m.

Jenkins emerges from an elevator — alone now, and barely able to balance herself. She slams against the wall, then rights herself and passes beneath the surveillance camera.

About two minutes later, the elevator doors open again, but there is no one there to get on.

Saturday, about 3:30 a.m.

Jenkins staggers through halls with no one else in sight, pausing to rest against a wall at one point, and a few minutes later nearly falling over a railing at the bottom of a staircase.

She looks to be lost — wandering down a hall only to reappear on the camera a minute later; going into a room, then coming back out; and finally returning the way she came.

Saturday, 3:32 a.m.

Walking a little more steadily than she had in the hallways, Jenkins makes her way into an empty kitchen — all stainless steel and reddish tile.

She passes a metal counter and makes her way around an industrial sink.

She sways a bit to the right, then to the left, and then finally walks out of the frame for the last time.

Jenkins’s mother, Teresa Martin, would later tell reporters that her daughter ended up in a vacant part of the hotel, although the walk-in freezer in that area was functioning.

I am not a video expert, so bear with me as I try to explain this. I do however understand what you are seeing in that video where the guy removed the other people walking down the hallway.

1. When we say it is incredibly expensive and time-consuming to digitally erase someone from video -- that is true. It would take several days and many thousands of dollars. But this only applies in cases where two people are in close proximity to each other. For example, if somebody were carrying a body through a hallway. Or if somebody were leaning on somebody else in a hallway. It is impossible to just easily and quickly erase one of those people.

HOWEVER....

2. It IS easy to remove people from a video if there is some separation between those people. What that guy did was take an image of an empty hallway, cut it in half.... then take the image of the four girls walking down the hallway and cut that in half. He spliced the left side (empty hallway) to the right side (Kenneka in the hallway), thereby removing the friends. However, if those friends had been holding hands with her, holding her up, or carrying her, it would have been a much more laborious process.

Does that makes sense?

This is the timeline I thought made sense when I was piecing things together and how I came up to the assumption of her placement using the maps.

I think she hit the button when she came out and leaned against the wall for support.

As for the camera I think the red boxes track motion so if someone's moving were moving erratically or fast the boxes might not be as exact as a sober person in a straight line. There's also apparently common complaints of similar systems false triggering if not properly configured.

When looking up motion detection systems they seem to be commonly set up on a grid system that would vary based on who set it up. So it may start tracking in certain areas, drop then pick up when the person reached a different area. Sensitivity can also be adjusted.

I still remain bewildered how the cop on the phone knew the actual hotel

but not really

because all sorts of behind the scenes

then to add to this notion

he was polite

but..

in hearing it again

oppssss

starts playing like he wants to check it out for mom

asks her name

its a hard name

there is some crosstalk

he asks her to spell it

more cross talk

she never spells it

then he pretends to have looked it up -- how i have no idea how do you look up someone you have no idea how to spell

appease mom while everyone -- cops hotel try to figure out how they are gonna manage a major eff up dealing with a deceased 19 year

go back and listen

he fooled me on first go round !!

he was so nice

everyone knew a lot by that point but this mom kept stirring stuff up till they could organized

stalling keep mom calm until they can proceed

then out of the blue (everything all ready to roll) another kind officer decides on his own that he will go check out video and poof there she is all alone

fear errors corruption national news story rolling in town

of course they did -- they had an additional 10 days to clean

To clean what? What would there be to clean? A drunk girl got dodged by her friends and staggered off and froze to death in a freezer.

If someone attacked her and drug her to the freezer, then why would they want to clean that up? I'm sorry CARIIS, I can't see a giant conspiracy over this. It's like all the drunk guys that were disappearing up around that bar in the north east, and they'd find them drowned. What they were doing was going down there to take a leak at the water's edge, staggering around, and falling into the water, and drowning. Drunk people do stupid things. My friend went camping in the mountains, he was an experienced camper but also an alcoholic. He went to take a leak, drunk, in the middle of the night and fell off of a cliff. Thankfully he grabbed onto a scrub pine and held on until help found him, or he'd have died much younger than he did, from the alcoholism. I nearly drowned from deciding to swim across a major river. Had a friend on the bank not seen me go under, I'd not be here today. I made it across just fine, and almost made it back, but misjudged where the bank started, and went down. It's a terrible thing that happened but it happens every day. It's not the hotel's fault, honestly. They lied when the rented the room with a stolen credit card. None of them were even registered under their own name. Most of this falls on poor choices made by KJ and her "friends". We can't bubble wrap the world.
