Yeah, other people muddy them up enough already. It would be great to have some real facts.
I would agree, but unfortunately, many of the very few facts we have are still discussed as if open to interpretation. JMO

Some of that is understandable considering the vague language used by LE, and the variation in "facts" sourced from accepted main-stream media.

Just guessing here but I'm assuming that authorities had more than 4 words to work with when they used voice recognition software to find Jihadi John.

Remember that we have heard from TL that "Guys...down the hill" are the only words on the video from the suspect.

In the HLN extra with the reporters of DTH, they recount asking an FBI audio specialist for his opinion about whether accent, region of origin, or age can be reliably determined from the Delphi sample and that expert gave the opinion that the four word sample is too short to determine those factors.
I live in the south and not many people use the word guys. We would say y’all down the hill.

In the April 22, 2019 presser, DC said, “We’re seeking the public’s help to identify the driver of a vehicle that was parked at the old CPS/DCS Welfare building in the city of Delphi that was abandoned on the east side of County Road 300 North next to the Hoosier Heartland Highway between the hours of noon to 5 on February 14th (sic), 2017. If you were parked there or know who was parked there, please contact the officers at the Command Post at the Delphi city building.”

He knew a vehicle was parked there yet gave no details as to the colour, make or model and only wanted someone to identify the driver. Someone in the last thread wanted to know what the vehicle was and I found this amongst my notes:

Two weeks later, Riley said, "We're still looking for the car that was parked in the lot. If somebody can give us that information, we want that information as quickly as possible."

The importance of the car also ties into why police now believe the killer is local. Riley said after reviewing many tips, investigators determined he was able to get around quickly on the day the girls were killed, and seemed to know the area.

However, Riley makes no mention of the driver, only the car, and yet, like DC, he provides no details either.

This leads me to believe they have details of the car so why haven't we been told? Interestingly, the car and driver were never mentioned by LE again as far as I can recall.

ISP on Delphi killer: 'Somebody may have already interviewed him'

This is the second Gray Hughes’ video where he has stabilized the bridge to give a better feel of BG’s mannerisms and lateral movements. He exported each of the 48 frames from the video released by ISP and lined up each frame using the forked tree as a reference. The audio file is included. It’s only 3:22 in length, the balance consisting of the tip line details.

With numerous repetitions, it allows you a longer look at his face. With the sun on his face, he now appears younger to me.

I believe Sgt Riley mentioned it one more time later, but I haven't been able to find it. I believe he was more evasive in that later interview.

I don't know why, with the latest interest, the media hasn't ask LE if they are still looking for it. As I've noted before, there is nothing about it on the FBI poster.

This was stated at the very beginning of the PC, before DC proceeded to talk about the New Direction and introduced the new suspect sketch and all that. So it appeared to me they were simply seeking to reach out to somebody who parked at that lot from 12 to 5, perhaps somebody who’d earlier provided information, even a witness who they’d lost contact with. Without giving away any other identifying information - which obviously would lead people to believe this person was the suspect or directly connected to him - so the request was made as innocuously as possible including no names or other details.

The only reason they wouldn't give a description would be because people remember a vehicle but couldn't remember what it looked like or color. Remember it took time to interview people and who remembers a car that you passed on the road?

South midland that @Boxer mentioned isn't the geographic south (if that's what you're referring to). It's a broad swath of the southernmost parts of the midwest, so...mid and southwest Ohio, mid and south Indiana, mid and south Illinois, etc.

I think what the audio expert mentioned by the DTH reporters was saying was that while it may be possible to tentatively eliminate some geographic areas, there's not enough words to pinpoint an exact origin.

If nothing else this video, in my opinion, proves there is nothing wrong with this guy’s gait like some folks have theorized. No hitch in his walk that I can see. No evidence of knee surgery or neurological problems. Pretty smooth. You can see he’s watching his step and picking where to put his feet down, but that’s what you should be doing on this bridge.
Just my thoughts.

I think you are on to something. They don't know the vehicle or car. I have gone back and forth on this for years now. In my opinion, I now believe the significance of placing a particular car or vehicle at that location is because they have evidence of cell phone activity in that location from 12-5 on that day, but are/were unable to tie that cell phone activity to a particular person or that person's car or vehicle.

Since the request for information for that car or vehicle seems to have been resolved, or no longer important to the case, or is being held as evidentiary information for a potential arrest/charge/trial, we don't hear any more requests from LE for that information.

MOO.

It would be impossible to get even remotely close to that sort of accuracy using the two cell towers in Delphi.

Deleted...picture didn’t post well....
Hmmmm...really messed this up...I’ll try and figure it out...
Carry on....

It would be impossible to get even remotely close to that sort of accuracy using the two cell towers in Delphi.

I don’t know tons about this, but according to this article, “Cell Tower Triangulation-How It Works” using three towers is great, but two towers is possible but not quite as accurate, but more accurate than I thought it might be.

“Here is how a single-tower location would work. The cell tower has determined that the signal is coming from the γ sector, and that the origin of the signal is approximately 4 miles from the tower. This would place the caller within the yellow band, which you can see is 8.4 miles long and “about” ½ mile wide – an area of 4.2 sq. miles.

If the cell phone in question is also negotiating with a second cell tower at the same time (and this must be the case), the ability to locate the phone gets much better. Here is a diagram of the situation when the phone is 4 miles from the “orange” tower in the γ sector, and 5 miles from the “blue” tower in the α sector. This will place the phone in an oval (shown in red) whose center is the intersection of the swept areas of the two towers’ approximate distance bands.

If a third tower is brought into play, and the phone in question is determined to be 5 miles from the (third) “green” tower, this diagram shows that the area of location can be estimated even more closely. Keep in mind that the phone must be negotiating with all three towers at the same time.

Above info from Cell Tower Triangulation – How it Works

I was just pointing out that it probably wasn’t a southern man.

He does look younger than the first drawing LE showed as the suspect, but he looks older than the second drawing of the suspect. I always thought that BG said guys down the hill, but in this video I can clearly hear him say hey guys down the hill. I’m thinking that BG said hey guys, then he may have said something that put the girls at ease like I lost my puppy or help me with something. Then when he didn’t get the answer he wanted he said down the hill. The way he said hey guys seems like he had more to say. JMO

I don’t know how many words they have. Before 2019 conference they had three, right? Now it is four...So, maybe, they can find four more, not for us, for the VR software?

This being said - I believe the accent part, if the person traveled around, or was raised in Indiana, and then, moved, might be complicated.
(Whenever I visit my birth place, where I lived only in childhood, but where part of the family still lives, after a day or two, I start speaking with local accent.) Sometimes even the language you hear at home skews the accent, as it happened to my once-colleague, born in the US, in the family of Austrian immigrants.

However, I wonder if all avenues to place the guy have been exhausted.
