12/06/2021 = Hearing Journal Entry
Parties will meet with Judge on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

So going to put him on for tomorrow, 12/8/21.
He'll probably be there but not for trial. This is from the article posted above:

"Officials tell us we should learn more information later this week about when jury selection begins again."

Here's an another article re mistrial

Amanda Blackburn murder mistrial declared

Dec. 7, 2021
INDIANAPOLIS — A Marion County judge declared a mistrial in a high-profile case against a man accused of murdering a pastor’s wife in 2015. Amanda Blackburn, pregnant with her second child, was killed inside her house on Sunnyfield Court during a home invasion that November.
[.....]
Amanda shared the home with her husband, Pastor David Blackburn, and their young son. Amanda was 12 weeks pregnant with their second child.

Taylor is not facing charges for the death of the unborn baby, which is why the judge declared a mistrial when jurors found out about the pregnancy.

Wednesday, Dec. 8th:
*Status Hearing (Blackburn murder) (@ 1pm CT) - IN - Amanda Blackburn (28) (was 12 weeks pregnant shot to death, Nov. 10, 2015, Indianapolis) - *Larry Jo Taylor, Jr. (18/now 24) arrested & charged (11/23/15) & arraigned (11/25/15) with murder willful intent, murder in the course of a burglary, murder in the course of a robbery, murder enhancement, carrying a handgun without a license, criminal confinement, 2 counts burglary (11/10/15), 2 counts of theft (11/10/15), 3 counts of rape (11/3/15), robbery resulting in serious bodily injury (11/3/15), public indecency & public nudity. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. Marion County
Watson & Gordon confessed that Taylor was the shooter. In the Nov. 3, 2015 case, tests found that Taylor's DNA matched samples found on the victim & her clothing.
Trial was set to begin on 12/6/21 for murder only, but was declared a mistrial by Judge Grant Hawkins when a juror found out that Amanda was pregnant.

12/1/21: Pretrial hearing on 12/6/21 @ 9:30am for other charges besides murder. 12/3/21: State's final witness list filed. 12/6/21: Motion to amend information filed (amend information interlineation, motion). Defense & State waive mask but agree to maintain table length distance. Motion to suppress 1st time phone number given by defendant. Motion to suppress 2nd time defendant gave number after advised. Other charges (rape, burglary, etc & nudity for pretrial hearing: Commenced & concluded. Defendant in custody. Judge Grant Hawkins, State by Ross Anderson & defense attorney Casanova. Tracking with jury trial. Next pretrial conference hearing on 12/9/21 @ 9:30am.
12/6/21 Monday, Trial Day 1: Jury selection began. Was seated with 12 jurors & 3 alternates. BUT! Judge Grant Hawkins declared a mistrial. Taylor is one of three men originally charged & the only one who was not given a plea deal. Taylor is not facing charges for the death of the unborn baby, which is why the judge declared a mistrial when jurors found out about the pregnancy. “This just being a mistrial indicates nobody did anything wrong, it was just a set of facts that came up & they determined that they could no longer go to the jury & get a fair outcome,” John Tompkins, a criminal defense attorney said. The other defendants in the case, Jalen Watson & Diano Gordon, accepted a plea deal & agreed to help prosecutors with the case against Taylor. Officials tell us we should learn more information later this week about when jury selection begins again. One juror asked Judge Grant Hawkins why this case is taking so long. Judge Hawkins cited COVID, whittling down 100 witnesses to 33 & a series of attorneys over the years. Order granting motion to amend information. Parties will meet with Judge on Wednesday, 12/8/21 @ 1pm.

*Rolando Gonzalez-Hernandez (26) (shot to death, Nov. 4, 2015, Indianapolis) - Larry Jo Taylor, Jr. (18/now 24) charged (12/29/15) with murder, felony murder & robbery resulting in serious bodily injury. Marion County
12/1/21: Pretrial hearing on 12/6/21 @ 9:30am. 12/6/21 Update: Commenced & concluded. Defendant in custody. Judge Grant Hawkins, State by Ross Anderson & defense attorney Casanova. Tracking with jury trial. Next pretrial conference hearing on 12/9/21 @ 9:30am.
*Diano Cortez Gordan (24/now 30) – Plead guilty (4/5/21) & sentencing hearing on 12/17/21.
*Jalen Emmanuel Watson (21/now 27) – Plead guilty (10/27/17) & sentenced to 29 years.

Wonder if her husband was involved in that meeting with the judge.

I don't know why they didn't charge him with the death of the unborn child to begin with. That's a pretty big issue to try to hide from a jury.

If this case was so strong, with so many witnesses, I'm not understanding why the other two were offered plea deals to testify against him. They were all in it together. Jalen Watson knew he was a rapist; he raped the woman they robbed on Nov. 3. If Watson and Gordan really left him alone with Amanda, then they should be equally charged, IMO.

It might be regarded as too prejudicial if it is not proven the accused knew about it.

I presume for reasons of case clearance. Otherwise you risk having 3 trials, in a case where it is clear one guy really did the murder. As it is, it's crazy that it's taken 6 years to get this far.

Plead not guilty. Held without bond. Marion County

Tuesday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the filing of a sentence enhancement for Larry Taylor, related to murder resulting in the termination of pregnancy. It will be added to the case and presented to the jury in trial.

Sentence enhancement filed for Amanda Blackburn’s unborn child as suspects appear in court today | WTTV CBS4Indy

LJT was already charged with murder enhancement so what's the problem if the juror recalled this story and remembered that Amanda was expecting Baby Evie?

Thanks for bringing that up. I didn't know what the enhancement was for. Once the jurors talked about the baby before being it was introduced in trial, the judge wasn't taking any chances.

I don't know why it's going to take so long to re-seat a jury.

@FrostedGlass - before I re print my sheets - was wondering if Taylor has another hearing set yet - for either Blackburn or Hernandez cases?

TIA!
