Hendricks County Sheriffs Department spokesman Jim Yetter said the remains were discovered by a man clearing his three-acre property near Maloney Road and County Road 1050 East near Brownsburg. The man, who bought the property about a month ago, found a 120-gallon well tank similar, Yetter said, to a large hot water heater.
When the scrapper cut into the tank, he found human skeletal remains and some clothing.
Yetter said the remains appear to be those of a man based on the clothing found in the tank, but he was not entirely sure.
We have really no telling age or anything at this time, Yetter said, adding that these remains have been there for quite some time.
Yetter said he was unsure whether that meant a period of years or even a decade or more.
