I'd like to focus attention on an account or witness (in MSM?) that there were 3 or 4 people who saw LS after CR went to bed. Anyone?

I can say that I am relatively convinced that there is a difference between JW and his friends vs LS/HT and their friends (DR, JR etc) as far as the level of drug use. I already owned up to admitting that I was a pretty wild child back in college. I can say that even if I was convinced my BF was missing it would have taken me a VERY long time to call the parents (his or mine). Because when you are that age, living in that sort of lifestyle, you just develop an instinct to hide everything from parents - and reaching out to them does not come easily. Early on, it did bother me that he called them so quickly. So, once I came to the belief that JW is not as "into" the drug scene, it was easier to accept that he did choose to call them so early on.

Hi all, I live in Bloomington (24 years old; went to IU - don't know anyone involved in the case, though) and have been lurking on these threads for some time. Just thought I'd share an interesting story that transpired last night:

The boyfriend and I were out walking, and decided to retrace Lauren's steps that night, just to set the scene and brainstorm. We walked from Smallwood up to 10th & College, then through the alleys to 5North, and finally back toward Smallwood along College.

First - the alley with the camera, where Lauren was from 2:48-2:51 is visible from MANY surrounding apartments, and even a pool belonging to Morton Mansions! It was pretty desolate and abandoned last night, but more students would have been around three weeks ago. So, someone uninvolved could have easily witnessed the "activity" in the alley ? This alley is VERY well-lit.

The final half-block's worth of alley, however, becomes much darker, with rougher gravel and glass on the ground, and is a steep incline uphill. As my bf and I walked through this alley, a white SUV drove west through the perpendicular alley (from College to Morton between 10th & 11th)...they stopped and just STARED at us, for MINUTES! It was dark and I couldn't really see the people in the car.

Bf and I freaked out and hid behind a tree, especially when they finally inched away from us only to PARK on Morton! It was just really spooky since we were standing right there at the scene of the crime and some mysterious car starts creepin'.

We continued around to the front of 5North. I noticed that I could overhear people hanging out inside one unit very easily -- like there was not much sound barrier. There is also a window on the east-facing side of the building through which you probably *can* see most of the way to the corner.

The construction project on the opposite side of 11th st is dark and massive, with many places someone could easily hide (or fall and hurt themselves). In fact, we noticed a man standing on the second story of the construction, completely in the dark, just staring out at us.

My bf pointed out that when there is a red light on 11th st (ppl waiting to turn south on College), the cars stop very close to the sidewalk. He thinks someone waiting at that light might have noticed Lauren, and convinced her to get in the car - "Hey, you going to Smallwood?" - and yes, you can tell who is likely to live in Smallwood by their clothes / demeanor. The place where the first car would be stopped at the light is (probably) just barely out of view from the window at 5North. JR could have *basically* seen her walk to the corner, but not quite far enough to see her getting into the first car stopped at the light. (At that time of night, it'd prob be the ONLY car, so no witnesses).

My bf used to run a bicycle taxi company in Bloomington, and his main job was to cart drunk people home, or from one bar to the next -- he has seen and talked with enough drunk Smallwood girls to know how willing they might be to get in a random vehicle at that time of night.

Anyway, we walked south on College. The sidewalk from 11th to 10th has very uneven pavement and a bunch of sharp-looking debri...bf was walking barefoot and speculated that it might feel better to walk in the road, esp if it were late and no one was around.

Just south of 10th Street, on the opposite (east) side of College is Carl Salzmann's office (he is CR's attorney). According to him, LS never passed by his security camera. We were trying to figure out exactly what part of College his camera was pointed at, when we noticed a cop car driving up to us!!

The cop pulled into Salzmann's parking lot and stopped. "How you folks doing tonight?" He explained that someone had called us in for "walking around and stopping and looking at things". ARE YOU SERIOUS? He wanted to know our names so he could check if there was a warrant out for our arrest. It must have been that creepy white SUV that stopped and leered at us for five minutes who called us in (when we were seriously just walking through a public alley).

Anyway, apparently Bton has become paranoid, to the point of harassing innocent couples out for an evening walk. That was a lovely touch. We pretty much went home at that point.

----

Another question: was there a cover charge that night at Kilroy's? If so, it'd be strange to be there only 44 minutes unless a) you were there for an unusual reason / circumstances; b) you ended up leaving earlier than planned.

Think of ALL the "smiley face" victims. They too were walking alone, drunk, in the wee hours. They were supposedly all (well, we don't know what in the world happened to them) taken by strangers. No one doubts this in their case - no one is trying to focus on their friends they went to the bar with. It's a given, to most observers, that somewhere on their walk they met with foul play from a stranger.

Why not in this case? Why don't we all view this the same - she was really too incapacitated to defend herself, she was an obvious and easy mark there all alone by herself and clearly intoxicated - why isn't the first thing that everyone thinks is of a stranger?

Seems to me that's the case. At any rate, there is one of the guys I think may have harmed her, but if that happened, I really don't think the others know.
You took a lot of words right out of my mouth. IDK how a stranger abduction has been ruled out, but I guess LE has some pertinent information, pointing in another direction. One of the things that has been bothering me...was L kicked out of the bar? and if so, why? I've kept up with a few cases, and surprisingly, being kicked out of bars can often lead to disastrous results. For example...the model who was vacationing with her bf in Fla. He was kicked out of the bar and she was later found murdered. My friend's niece was recently kicked out of a local bar and within minutes, she was run over and killed by a hit and run driver. and now this case. IDK what needs to be done, but if someone is so drunk that the bar doesn't want him there, then maybe they should call the cops instead of tossing him into the street. My dd works at a bar and she told me about a young female who got kicked out the other night, for being 'too drunk'. She was escorted out the door where she immediately fell and hit her head on the concrete parking lot. This girl was with her bf, so he tended to her, but what would've happened if she had been alone?moo.

Found some early MSM articles referencing HT. Interesting to look back:

June 6, 2011
Spierer's roommate, HT, told WRTV in Indianapolis that her friends wish there was more information surrounding her disappearance.

"If we knew anything, we would have found her by now," HT said. "There's not much information to tell. I wish there was, but there are really no leads. We're clueless and helpless."

June 7, 2011
Fox 5 spoke with one of her college roommates who had quite a story to tell about the activities leading up to her disappearance. HT, of Long Island, said Lauren left a party with a group of boys.

HT said a mutual friend saw Lauren leaving the party.

Police think Spierer never made it home early that morning. Her roomate, HT, says she was the first to notice Lauren was gone.

Epiph: Yes, I believe a party. Yes, LS left with a group of boys. That's more than 2, IMO.

In this case her possibly being kicked out of the bar had nothing to do with her disappearance. She appears on cameras going to CR's apartment long after possibly being kicked out of the bar.

Welcome Bloom and thanks for the post - it was very informative! And how creepy it must have been... eeww yuck, I can't imagine.
What's the consensus opinion (about what happened to LS) of the people in Bton that you've spoken to?

Thanks for your post, bloom, but I don't think it's at all surprising the cops checked you out - that was what I assumed the white SUV was doing as I read about it - or that that's a bad thing. They want to know who might return to the scene of a crime.

Thanks for the post. I have wondered a lot about her having no shoes yet walking down alleys and in downtown areas.

I was even more creeped out hearing that someone was standing on the second floor of a building under construction on 11th. I suppose it could have been a security guard, but still it would have creeped me out.

video I haven't seen before

In, Florida, in the Haleigh Cummings case, where the 5 yr-old little girl vanished from bed, we have a group of drug-addled young people who are POI's even more than 2 years later because their stories evolved or changed, didn't make sense etc. We know that because in Florida everything is out in the open as far as public records. We know all about the interviews and interrogations, etc, have seen jail tapes.

LE in Lauren's case may be dealing with much the same, i.e. changing stories, things that don't make sense, we just are not allowed to know it. I do not believe LE simply determined a bunch of people to be POI's for the heck of it. They may have pretty much the same amount and quality of info and evidence on this group as Florida has on the group down there. (And I don't know of anyone who does not think all or some of the Florida group is involved.)

Unfortunately LE in Florida has not been able to crack any of these folks, even with a slew of drug charges that landed some of them in prison for up to 25 years, as was mentioned earlier. The only reason this case keeps coming up is the possible drug involvement in Lauren's case, making it similar. And Haleigh remains missing.

Sadly someone said it earlier...it is almost too late to come forward now and admit to an accident with a cover-up. And I don't think anyone will do so.

Now why would Chapman make it clear his client doesn't know who called him? Seems odd to put it that way. He certainly knows what cellphone his phone was called from and nobody would expect him to verify who dialed it.
Oh I thought it was because the story was already out there from HT saying that it was LS using JR's phone and that he did not want to say that he knew who the caller was, but yes you are right, it does sound more like he doesn't even want to say whose phone# it was?

Lovejac, try editing your post to add the url of the youtube page as a link, not the embed code for the video itself.

You certainly have the right to speculate, but IMO it's better to base speculation on facts as we're told them by MSM.

You must be kidding. To think that we can only base everything on what media tells us, what is wrong with our society?

My take on HT is that she's an attention seeker, and possibly protecting a friend or two, even if she doesn't know anything.

I have a hard time thinking she would talk so much if she knew anything that happened, unless she was guilty of a homicide, which I really, really doubt. Her statements don't always add up, so I'm always suspicious of her, but the more I think about it, the more I think she is just an attention seeker, but will stick her neck out for a friend or two who might be a POI.

She took that picture that was in the news, for the article they did on her and Lauren. I thought that was in bad taste.

Celebrity wannabe? Another symptom of how gross our society is.

Anyway, my point is, as an HT doubter, I don't think she knows anything, but I still wouldn't believe anything she ever told me.
