Indianapolis shooting came after stimulus check argument; 4 dead

A survivor of the shooting – who family said shared a daughter with Halfacre – was shot in the back during the incident and directed police to the residence Saturday night.

Halfacre said in an interview with police that he and his daughter's mother "were arguing because he wanted some of her stimulus check," according to a probable cause affidavit.

He told investigators that, after he shot everyone inside the home, he took the money and his daughter's mother's purse and car before leaving.

Halfacre had been preliminarily charged with four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of robbery.

Prosecutor Ryan Mears talks about domestic violence and how it has increased over the last year. There was a No Contact Order on Halfacre and Mears stressed how important it is to call the police when it's broken. Family said she was terrified of Halfacre and afraid to leave him.
'Death penalty eligible': Quadruple homicide suspect charged with 4 counts of murder

However, there is more to this case than just DV. Halfacre shot a man multiple times in 2017; the man lived. Due to lack of cooperation by the witnesses, the case ended up with a plea agreement that was a sweet deal for Halfacre. Now the family feels that these murders may not have happened if he would have gone to prison for shooting that guy.
