Iran Air Flight 655 - Wikipedia
Iran Air Flight 655 was a scheduled passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai via Bandar Abbas that was shot down on 3 July 1988 by an SM-2MR surface-to-air missile fired from USS Vincennes, a guided-missile cruiser of the United States Navy. The aircraft, an Airbus A300, was destroyed and all 290 people on board were killed.[1] The jet was hit while flying over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, along the flight's usual route, shortly after departing Bandar Abbas International Airport, the flight's stopover location. The incident occurred during the final stages of the Iran–Iraq War, which had been continuing for nearly eight years. Vincennes had entered Iranian territory after one of its helicopters drew warning fire from Iranian speedboats operating within Iranian territorial limits.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

No, certainly not forgotten. It was discussed quite a bit after the Iranian shootdown of the Ukrainian plan as well as after the Russian shootdown of the Malaysian 777.

With all human events there comes a time when a thing is overtaken by other events. Every day overtakes the day before it. It happens as part of the normal course of life.

Ontario court finds Iran liable for downed Ukrainian plane | Toronto Sun
''TORONTO — A court in the Canadian province of Ontario ruled on Thursday that Iran owes damages to families who sued after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane in January 2020, soon after it took off from Tehran.

Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice found that “on a balance of probabilities” the missile attack was an intentional act of terrorism, based mainly on written evidence provided by lawyers representing families of some of the victims.''

Iran's Islamic regime has held the third hearing of a trial for a group of IRGC personnel it says are responsible for shooting down a Ukrainian airliner in 2020.

The hearing session was held Thursday after a one-year gap with the presence of ten defendants.
Flight PS 752 was hit with two surface-to-air missiles as it was taking off from Tehran on January 8, 2020, in the tense aftermath of Iran's missile attack on United States military bases in Iraq. The missile attack on US bases was in retaliation for the US killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad days earlier.

''THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Ukraine have launched a case against Iran at the United Nations' highest court over the downing in 2020 of a Ukrainian passenger jet and the deaths of all 176 passengers and crew.
The countries want the International Court of Justice to rule that Iran illegally shot down Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 on Jan. 8, 2020, and order Tehran to apologize and pay compensation to the families of the victims.
Those killed included nationals and residents of Canada, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, as well as Afghanistan and Iran. Their ages ranged from 1 year to 74 years old.''
