IDF to release more evidence to prove Israel was not responsible for Gaza hospital blast, spokesperson says

Israel will release additional evidence to prove they were not responsible for the hospital blast in Gaza that left hundreds dead, Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, Israel Defense Forces spokesperson, told CNN Tuesday evening.

Israel has already released footage captured by a UAV to international media, Conricus said, and they plan to release additional intelligence of an intercepted conversation between Palestinian militants that they understand there was a rocket that had misfired.

Conricus added that the IDF went through their own systems to confirm they did not fire at that location and that there was no misfire from Israel.

Conricus said an investigation into the blast revealed that the Islamic Jihad had fired a barrage of rockets toward northern or central Israel, and at least one of them misfired, landed on the ground and exploded.

Conricus also refuted claims that the blast could have been the result of an iron dome interception that caused the rocket to explode and land, saying this "has also been categorically denied."

"That is not the case, and we do not intercept rockets over Gaza," he stated.

"We have confirmed, and all of our chain of command stands behind it, that this was not an IDF strike. It was a misfired rocket by the Islamic Jihad that landed and probably caused that explosion," he said.

Israel has already briefed US military officials on this intelligence ahead of US President Joe Biden's visit to Israel on Wednesday, Conricus said.

It's too late. Too many news stations irresponsibly broadcast Hamas claims that it was an Israeli missile, so people across the Middle East are currently angrily retaliating against Israeli and USA embassies.

Reporters should try fact checking rather than trying to win the race of being the first to make a statement.

IDF says responding with shelling to anti-tank missile fired from Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces says another anti-tank guided missile was fired from Lebanon toward forces near Shtula, a moshav in northern Israel close to the border.

The attack marks at least the seventh missile fired over the past 24 hours at towns and military posts on the northern border, apparently by the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group.

The military does not immediately provide information on casualties.

The IDF says it is responding with artillery shelling at the source of the missile fire in southern Lebanon.

Countries condemn Gaza hospital blast

From CNN’s Sophia Saifi in Islamabad and Mariya Knight and Martin Goillandeau

Several nations condemned the deadly blast that likely killed hundreds of people in Gaza City.

France said it "strongly condemns the strike against the Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City, which caused a very high number of Palestinian civilian casualties," according to statement from the country's Foreign Ministry.

“International humanitarian law is binding on all and must enable the protection of civilian populations. Humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip must be opened up without delay,” the ministry said in the statement.

Pakistan called the deadly blast an “Israeli attack” and the Israeli military was “inhumane and indefensible” for “attacking a hospital, where civilians were seeking shelter and emergency treatment," according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. CNN has not independently confirmed the cause of the blast.

"The indiscriminate targeting of civilian population and facilities is a grave violation of international law and constitutes war crimes," the statement read.

Pakistan called for “the international community to take urgent measures to bring an immediate end to the Israeli bombardment and siege of Gaza and the impunity with which Israeli authorities have operated in the last few days," the statement read.
Israel and Hamas each blamed the other side for the blast.

Even when someone provides solid conclusive proof Hamas is responsible for the explosion at the hospital... these people will never, ever believe it. As stated by MassGuy in the previous thread... the damage has already been done.
They are only going to believe what suits their own agenda.

And because of bad reporting, cities are already erupting and buildings being set on fire.

18:59 - A rocket aimed at Israel misfired and exploded.
18:59 - A hospital was hit in Gaza.

Ok. Going to try to type this all out again, lost the last one.

So, what exact time did Hamas use the words “one hour window” about the hostages.

Did Hamas say they would release the hostages within an hour if Israel stops bombing befoooore the hospital was hit?

Because IF so, how convenient.

“We were goooooinggg to release the hostages, but then you hit our hospital…so too bad…no hostages.”

Meanwhile they’ve possibly already been killed anyway, and that ISIS-like hostage video of poor Maya Schem released yesterday was filmed immediately after her abduction. (I’ve seen her name spelled 3 different ways already, note to find the right one.)

Agenda gains additional support from allies and mission continues/escalates.

Prove or disprove possible theory, might take a while to find exactly what time they said that about the hostages.

* This possible angle/theory is void if:

1. The hostage statement was made after the hospital was hit (less likely imo)
2. The rocket “fell short” and was an “accident” (which eh, that’s a whole different discussion, ranges, accuracy, etc.)
3. The rocket is Israeli
4. Others (need more coffee)

——

Is the answer here, still haven’t watched this video, been trying all day:

The video itself is 7 hours old.

How many hours (and minutes) ago exactly did the rocket happen “18:59” / time zone. What’s the math. Check on this after more badly needed coffee. Can also pull time ref from last thread.

Reuters: Ahmed Al-Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, said there were patients, healthcare workers and internally displaced people in the al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital when it was struck.

“The hospital was one of 20 in the north of the Gaza Strip facing evacuation orders from the Israeli military,” he said.

“The order for evacuation has been impossible to carry out given the current insecurity, critical condition of many patients, and lack of ambulances, staff, health system bed capacity, and alternative shelter for those displaced,” he added.

Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme, said it was “inhumane” to leave Gaza’s health workers with the dilemma of caring for their patients or fleeing to save their own lives. He said doctors and nurses were choosing their patients over themselves.

“It is absolutely clear to all sides of this conflict where the health facilities are,” Ryan said.

“It is absolutely clear healthcare is not a target... That is enshrined in international humanitarian law. And we’re seeing this breached again and again and again over the last week. And it has to stop. It must stop.”

“This attack is unprecedented in scale,” Richard Peeperkorn, WHO Representative for the West Bank and Gaza, told Reuters.

“We have seen consistent attacks on healthcare in the occupied Palestinian territory,” he said.

Peeperkorn said there so far have been 51 attacks against healthcare facilities in Gaza, with 15 health workers killed and 27 injured.

The Israeli military blamed the al-Ahli al-Arabi blast on a failed rocket launch by a Palestinian militant group.

US raises travel alert for Lebanon to 'do not travel', authorises voluntary personnel departures

The US State Department has raised its travel alert for Lebanon to “do not travel,” citing the security situation related to rocket, missile, and artillery exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah, Reuters reports.

The State Department authorised the voluntary, temporary departure of family members of US government personnel and some non-emergency personnel from the US Embassy in Beirut because of the unpredictable security situation in Lebanon.

Protests took place outside the US embassy near Beirut on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday following the blast at al-Ahli al-Arabi hopsital in Gaza that killed hundreds of Palestinians.

White House says Israel feels "very strongly" they did not cause hospital explosion

Israel feels “very strongly” they did not cause the explosion at a hospital in Gaza, the White House said Tuesday.

“The Israelis have categorically and very stridently denied that they had anything to do with it," John Kirby, National Security Council spokesperson, told reporters aboard Air Force One.
He said US President Joe Biden spoke with “all the leaders involved” about his trip to the region Tuesday afternoon “so that all of them could make a collective decision about the value of continuing.”

Asked if the US was giving Israel the “benefit of the doubt,” Kirby declined to weigh in on where the administration thinks responsibility lies for the blast.

Biden has directed the national security team to gather as much information and context as possible “so that we can learn more about what happened,” Kirby said.

As for the cancellation of Biden’s trip to Amman, Jordan, Kirby said it was a “mutual decision” between Jordanian and US officials.

Biden was set to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and others in Jordan, but Abbas canceled his meeting with Biden earlier Tuesday.

The White House said that was due to a three-day mourning period.

“The decision not to go to Amman was made in a mutual way when the president spoke to the king earlier this afternoon,” Kirby said, referring to Biden’s call with King Abdullah II of Jordan. “They both agreed that now was not the time to try to throw this meeting on, particularly with President Abbas, making it very clear – understandably so – that he wanted to return home for three days of mourning.”

Asked why the president didn’t push his trip back until after the three-day mourning period, Kirby said there was still a “pretty robust agenda” for Biden on the ground in Israel.

“He wants to have these discussions directly with Prime Minister Netanyahu and the war cabinet,” Kirby said. “He's looking forward to having an opportunity to thank the first responders, he obviously feels it's important, as is his normal desire, to talk to family members who are suffering and anxious and worried and grieving.”

“Even though the Amman portion isn't going to happen — again for perfectly understandable reasons — that doesn't negate the reason for going,” Kirby said.
