It sounds like the remains have been there at least a couple of years.

"Police responded to a disturbance at a home on Tuesday night and later transported one person to a hospital in serious condition.

Information about a possible homicide led to a search at the home yesterday, and the discovery of the remains.

Authorities say the suspected homicide may have taken place years ago
."

In this story, it sounds as though the investigators have an idea who the child is.

No one ever filed a missing report.

"The remains of a child were found buried 3 feet deep in the backyard of a cul-de-sac home in Rose Hill Wednesday — and police believe they know who they belong to. No missing child report for the suspected victim was ever made to the Rose Hill Police Department, Chief Taylor Parlier told The Eagle in a phone call Thursday, adding he didn’t believe a report was made anywhere else either."

the initial details sound almost how the Avantae Deven murder of two adopted children case started out. A minor sibling was expressing suicidal thoughts. Wellness check, police involvement and the sibling began to talk about abused siblings who had been missing for years.

This case could well go a similar way. A person in extreme emotional distress finally working up the courage to tell outsiders about a horrible secret.

They are investigating people of interest.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they are assisting in the investigation.

The Chief said the remains were found near the intersection of Rose Hill Road and Rosewood Street, but when I check Google Maps, that doesn't look like a residential cul-de-sac.

I believe the house in question is somewhere on Rosewood Street and Meeker Ct. Streetview in maps aligns with the court being shown in the snip of video you share in yours.

this house right here seems to be the one shown in new footage (1406 Meeker court)

[ETA correct address of house of interest]

NamUs only lists one missing person from Rose Hill, and it is an adult man.

Perhaps this is a child who was reported missing but wound up very far from where they were reported missing from, one way or another. MOO.
except police seem to already have an idea who they are. no missing person report was ever made for the "suspected" victim. They have a victim in mind :( RIP child.

I think it may actually be the one next to that, 1402. The news articles mention the house being bought in 2019--if you look at the houses on Zillow, 1402 is the only one sold that year.

ETA: Agree though that the photo is very clearly showing 1406, so confusing.

ETA2: Okay this confirms the address as 1406. Child remains found in backyard of Rose Hill residence - Butler County Times-Gazette

Since the article confirms 1406 Meeker Ct, Redfin lists the last sale of the house in 2017. Zillow says the same.

snipped from https://fox4kc.com/news/police-childs-remains-found-buried-in-backyard-of-rose-hill-home/

The Rose Hill Police Department said that on Tuesday, around 7:30 p.m., officers received a call about an adult occupant in distress near Rose Hill Road and Rosewood Street.

While police were on their way, they received information that the adult was barricaded inside the residence. Officers resolved the incident, and the adult was transported in serious but stable condition to an area hospital.

While on the scene, officers learned of a possible past homicide and started investigating. At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police recovered a child’s body in the backyard, whose decomposition suggests that they were buried for possibly a couple of years.

Yes! You found it! Thank you!

IIUC from the first post in this thread, there might be (at least) two potential crimes? One associated with the discovered remains, and another associated with the individual transported Tuesday from the residence to the hospital in serious condition? MOO
That's what I'm thinking, too.

Years ago, but after 2017 when the current owners purchased the property, a child was buried in the backyard.

The adults in the house kept quiet about it.

This is all wild speculation and JMOO, but I wonder if it is a domestic abuse issue. Maybe a stepfather (for some reason, stepfathers seem more likely to kill) killed his stepchild and threatened his wife. Maybe now he was abusing her to the point where she finally got the nerve to call for help and report him. All MOO

But did the neighbors not suspect anything? Maybe the child was killed soon after they moved in and the neighbors would not suspect its absence, but were there no other signs?

Some of these "families" are downright scary.
