Now THAT is an interesting thought. If she didn't drive AND she's not saying she didn't, she would be covering for the person who did. Maybe she doesn't want anyone to know that that person was around that evening.

Not that I think that's what happened, but it's an interesting idea.

(IMO)
I'm sure it would've been easy to just say that, she's just under the impression that she's fooling everyone.
Has she said verbatim that she DROVE to OG, or did she just GO there?

Maybe not records verified, but I am positive I have been around people smoking weed laced with other goodies. I can verify that.
Synthetic pot has hit the streets.
Users look like they are on heroin.
People are dying from it.

Does it matter if she doesn't refute it and produce evidence to back her claim? ETA: I'm not trying to be smart, and I'm sorry that it came across that way after I reread it. I'm genuinely curious.

Im wondering why the judge ended the day a little early it seems?

Is there any hope that the judge tactfully ended early with the hopes that she would still give up information about LH for some sort of plea deal before this trial is over?

Can she still create a plea deal on this case while it is going on and before closing statements?

not sure in terms of this case but it def would matter in terms of us figuring out what happened to lucas.

also, if this were the case (which i had wondered awhile back too) wouldnt there still be some type of CE charge for knowingly getting into a car with someone who is high w your child/a minor?

imo, based on how msm reported, its fair to interpret she is the driver (or lied). (ex: http://www.kwch.com/content/news/Af...e-Lucas-Hernandez-went-missing-476690153.html)

I don't have a clue.

Depending on how long closing remarks were expected to be, stopping at 4pm (or pretty close) isn’t unusual...that way the jury is reminded of the facts and they’re fresh right before they go to deliberate the verdict. Rather than take closing to 5 or later and come back to deliberate.

1) Thanks to everyone who posted the tweets and msm links!

2) I am really curious how much we can read into LE saying in this trial that they didn't find any drugs/paraphernalia in the home? Is that referring to just eyeballing drugs/paraphernalia as they questioned EG in the home, or does it also refer to the full-scale forensics search of the home?

If the latter, when/where did she get rid of the drugs/paraphernalia? It obviously reeks of someone who believes LE is going to be doing a forensic search of the home and doesn't want their stash found, and at that point I guess she hadn't realized that she'd later admit to smoking dope during the questioning. But would she hide/throw the drugs stuff when she goes out to do the body dump? We don't know if EG went out at all on Saturday, but I would guess she didn't lest she be seen around without Lucas. That leaves, in my mind, doing a quick pass of everything to the first friend/relative on the scene when Lucas is reported missing, and I would think a friend who also imbibes would not have a problem taking the stuff from her as they wouldn't see the relevance of the drugs to a missing child who's wandered off or been abducted.

There is another option, but I find it too risky. That is to drop off the drugs/paraphernalia with a friend/relative on the Friday night, but surely they'd be asking *why?*

I wanted to offer some thoughts on the court proceedings today.

Cell phones were confiscated upon entering the courtroom. Media was present and left periodically to do updates. JO was there in the morning and was with someone, but left after the first recess around 10:30. It is most likely that other parties had family members there, but without photographs, positive identification cannot be made at this time.

For the most part, glass looked straight ahead at the witness. She wore black slacks and a black shirt with a gray sweater. She was not wearing glasses and looked healthy.

A WPD officer was the first witness. He essentially testified that he responded to a call at EG's residence on 2/17 because EG called police. He was at the residence for more than an hour. He wore a body camera. He had access to the garage. Pictures of the garage and of EG's daughter were admitted into evidence. There was an area set up in the garage with chairs and an ash tray. He testified that the house was free from clutter and trash, EG's daughter was clothed, clean, and appeared emotionally happy. He does not recall seeing any cannabis or paraphernalia, and would have reported it if he had.

The next witness was a Crime Scene Investigator which helped process the residence. He said that a lot of manpower goes into processing each case. He arrived around 10:30 p.m. and they worked to process the scene all night. He worked until his shift ended around 6:00 a.m. He took 230 photos of the entire residence and created a diagram of the residence. Some relevant photos presented into evidence included those of the backseat of EG's white SUV showing a car seat and a booster seat buckled in side by side. He testified he "processed" the vehicle. He also testified that an occupant of the home provided a written waiver to process the house. Defense showed that there were food and beverages in the fridge and the house was relatively clean.

The next witness was a homicide detective. He was called to the house around 10:30 p.m. He interviewed EG four times. They are all recorded. The dates are 2/18, 2/19, 2/20, and 2/21. EG requested the second interview and brought up cannabis use.

Detectives obtained all of EG's phone records from her carrier. The limited pings offered into testimony showed the phone near Olive Garden at Rock and Central at 4:53 p.m. and 5:43 p.m. EG's written statement was read into evidence. It is summarized, in short hand form, as follows:

Friday, woke up. Changed the kids. Took LH's pullup off and put on underwear. Gave them pop tarts and fruit. Put on cartoons for them while I did laundry. Lounged with the kids and watched cartoons. Smoked a cigarette. Gave daughter a bottle. Did more laundry.

Around noon, gave kids sphagetti-o's and PBJ. LH's tummy hurt. Gave him Zofran and put him in his room to watch a movie. He asked to. Cleaned up after lunch. Checked on LH every 20-30 minutes. Did more laundry. Took a break from cleaning My hands hurt from working in the flower bed. I smoked pot in the garage and got hungry.

I remembered JH gave me a gift card and I decided to eat quick at Olive Garden. Took daughter. Left LH because he fell asleep. Landlord called at 5:30. Said he needed in the house by six to fix the sewer lines. I had been smelling weird things. I told him I was almost home. On my way home he called again.

At home, I made Lucas dinner and gave the kids baths. I put them to bed and talked to JH by video chat.

Then the seven minutes of interviews were played. Audio was low and hard to hear. Of note, her weed gets brought to her by a man named Mike. She does not know his last name.

She has cracks on her hands and has for years. She then rolled up her sleeves to show the detectives her arms also. She hurt her hands digging in the garden. Also, it was her first time going to OG from her new house and she does not remember the route she took.

After showing the video, the judge had a bench conference with the attorneys for several minutes and put white noise on the speakers so they could not be heard. During the bench conference, EG looked over multiple times at three people sitting in the courtroom -- a man and woman about 55, and a woman about 35 -- and she gave a thumbs up with a look on her face like she was asking a question. Then, they broke for lunch.

The events after lunch have been reported.

OK. :) I've wondered if EG has viewed her status as a guest of the state as being on a vacation, a strange one, yes, but a vacation. She hasn't had to worry about kids (if she did before), she's not worrying about where her next meal will come from, and she has a bed and a roof over her head. If she had ever been homeless, maybe she'd look at this as a step up? And maybe she's not in a big hurry to get out? I don't know, it's all just speculation on my part.

If phone evidence and confessions aren’t enough to convict her, it will be just inconceivable to me. I will be blown away.

I see what you're saying, but here LE has EG admitting to LE that she broke the law and drove with the child after smoking marijuana. She confessed, LE didn't trump up or inflate any charges. They've even held off arresting or filing any charges r/t Lucas, the other child in her care the same date she allegedly endangered MH, according to LE.ETA: I agree with you that at no time should LE/the legal system be able to hold someone on false/trumped up/inflated charges.

I like the thought process!
She confessed-

Very good points.

I had not considered that the jury will be asked to deliberate the case shortly after closing arguments so you are absolutely right that there would have not been enough time today for them to decide this case so its better to do closing tomorrow and give them the case tomorrow.

We may have a verdict by the end of the day tomorrow so long as things go smooth.

:) If she will tell us where Lucas is, she can stay on vacation for life! HEHEHE!

This is EG's own written testimony. It stands out to me, because it supports the whole LL sighting Lucas on 02/16th reports and also supports the theory that EG may have been upset by LH being seen home alone by LL or other witness. Possible motive for a final beating which led to his death?

Also, what is Zofran? Note the details about Lucas' tummy hurting. Note also her excuses for her hand scratches. I'm sorry but she doesn't really strike me as the avid gardening sort. JMO.

Zofran that's interesting was it given to treat his vomiting he was experiencing? Was it prescribed by a doctor? That would explain his accidents he may have been having.

Zofran is a anti-nausea medication that does NOT make one drowsy.
ETA: I’m an EMT and this is frequently given in 4mg dissolvable tabs for under the tongue. But unlike Phenergan, they aren’t drowsy making for the patient. Many years ago zofran was for chemo patients only. I have a script for it now myself for nausea (I can’t eat - no we don’t know why)

I did get the impression that the landlord was in a hurry and beat her to the house. That’s why she didn’t mention him coming by after she got home.

That medication is used in a number situations to prevent nausea and vomiting, including in sick children who need to remain hydrated.

Wow, EG gave Lucas Zofran

"This medication is used alone or with other medications to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by cancer drug treatment (chemotherapy) and radiation therapy. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting after surgery. It works by blocking one of the body's natural substances (serotonin) that causes vomiting."

Zofran

Zofran can and is also used for severe morning sickness in pregnancy.
