Here’s another possible match that after some research I can’t quite explain ... but I just can’t get the images out of my head!!

Louis Boggs, Sr. White male, 67 years old, 6’0”, 180 lbs missing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana since January 29, 1979. Wore glasses, upper and lower dentures and was missing a left finger (unspecified).

Stepson was charged with but acquitted of his murder after being found sleeping in Louis’ missing car two weeks after he was reported missing - he was in Florida and blood matching Louis’ type was found in the trunk, back at his Louisiana residence and on a knife found with stepson. (His was the first “no body” Murder case to be prosecuted in Louisiana.) Stepson is currently serving 50 years in a FL prison for planting a pipe bomb that ended up crippling a FL police officer.

One of a few things that gave me pause is his date of last contact. January 29, 1979 appeared to be a fairly concrete detail. That’s what newspaper articles listed and what’s on every missing person site. And it very well could be exact. However, on his Doe Network profile, it states that is the date he was reported missing. That along with it being 1979, I wonder if that allows some room for error; intentional or otherwise.

The DLC isn’t the only big discrepancy either...Louis’ age is over the estimated range of the UID, he wore dentures, (the missing finger doesn’t bother me as much as there’s little detail about it and the UID consisted of partial skeletal remains) the locations don’t seem to have a connection (although his stepson and vehicle weren’t found in Florida until two weeks after his reported missing date).

So, really, the two main things for me are the date and the dentures. But I also don’t know what is meant by the UID’s “dentals” description: “Available (Incomplete chart) overall nicotine staining noted as well as pronounced enamel hypoplasia overall.” I know what the staining and enamel hypoplasia mean, but an incomplete chart?

Incomplete chart often means they didn't find the mandible. It could also mean that the skull was damaged, or that the original autopsy included a dental chart that wasn't filled out by a dental specialist and therefore lacked information.

It's pretty clear that he still had some teeth somewhere in his mouth, though, so unless Mr. Boggs' information is incorrect, it can't possibly be him. But there's certainly a strong resemblance.

That makes sense... I wish there was more specificity regarding certain details about Louis. Whether or not the dentures were full or partial, for instance, would be nice to know. I can’t imagine them not being full, but I guess that was kind of my train of thought there. Everything points to IMPOSSIBLE MATCH. There’s just something nagging at me!

I've had quite a few of those over the years :p Most of them did not pan out.

Just reading back over some of these articles. Per this link I posted upthread: (snipped by me)
“Wolf [anthropology professor from U of K] bas learned much about John Doe’s remains...the man was white, about 36 years old and died last July or August...cane and eyeglasses were found with body...John Doe was a slender, arthritic 6 footer who walked with a pronounced limp. He had a thin nose that was once broken, was left-handed and once suffered a broken right leg.

Although the victim’s shirt was too decomposed to test some “unusual holes” for gunpowder residue, “It’s possible this was a gunshot victim,” Wolf said.

There were some other circumstances. All the belt loops on his trousers, except the ones in front, had been broken, leading me to believe the body had been dragged using the belt,” he said.

There was money in the victim’s pocket, but all identification cards and labels had been removed, Wolf said....”

Good find. The ears and nose don't look right, and the post-mortem interval is probably too long. Though with Loveless in Idaho, I no longer take that as definitively as I used to...

It's four hours driving time from Brown County Indiana to Breathitt County Kentucky, which is quite a bit longer than the usual body dump. It wouldn't surprise me if he was taken over the border to Kentucky, but I'd expect it to be someplace like Louisville or Bedford, which are only like 90-ish minutes according to googlemaps. Or maybe in the Ohio.

I was thinking the ears and nose were identical :D
The age and PMI are significantly off, but re: Mr. Loveless. That extraordinary identification has really made things more difficult for us huh?

@GJKJR thank you! I added it to the clippings (which I may need to update now that I think about it )

Conlon's ears stick out. The UID's don't appear to.

The noses I'm less sure about on account of the different angles, but Conlon's looks thicker and wider at the base and the UID's looks pointier. Noses on reconstructions aren't usually very precise, though.

And the caveat that I'm---well, not quite face blind, but maybe face-nearsighted? Often what I see isn't what other people see.

Would really like to see a side view of Conlon's face, to see what the nose and forehead really look like.

I recognized the eyeglasses immediately, then the description of the clothing Robert Richard Lepsy was wearing at the time of his disappearance. Of course the obvious problem is the time frame, but after reading the details surrounding his disappearance, I think it could be possible.

Per The Charley Project:
Lepsy was last seen leaving his workplace in Grayling, Michigan at 1:30 p.m. on October 29, 1969; he was a manager at Glen's Market, a grocery store. He left for his lunch break and never came back. During his break he called his wife and said he was going for a ride. He took no personal belongings with him and has never been heard from again.

Three days later, Lepsy's vehicle was found abandoned in the parking lot of Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan. The doors were unlocked, the keys were in the ignition and there was half a pack of cigarettes sitting on the dashboard.

Lepsy left behind four children. Authorities concluded he had left of his own accord, and made little effort to find him. He was declared legally dead in 1976. His case remains unsolved.

I remember seeing a post on a message board from a now defunct website regarding a man who went missing at some point during the 1970's from either the unincorporated community of Ned or the larger town of Jackson in Kentucky, both of which are located in Breathitt County. Completely forgot about it until I saw this case today, and still haven't seen any sign of him in databases anywhere.

I think the thread said that his name was Lloyd Buck Noble. From memory, there were several stories about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. The first was that he was last seen at a rural residence in Ned, when he walked outside for a brief moment and apparently vanished. The second was that he was last seen after driving into Jackson, which is the seat of Breathitt County. I wish I could remember more, but all I can recall was that there seemed to be in recent years a strong consensus that he was still missing. I was never able to determine whether these reports were true, but after seeing threads on cases like that of Hilda McCormick which turned out to be very real on the same website, I thought it might be worth posting.
