KSP Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs responded on Sept. 13, with more information provided by KSP, which stated Massingale was ill with COVID-19 and pneumonia.

Massingale reportedly fell down the mountain where she was found near Coldiron and died there from her injuries.

“Jacobs said although drugs may be tied to the case, the detective working the investigation does not suspect foul play and no arrests have been made in regards to Massingale’s death.”

“Information has been shared with The Enterprise about three potential suspects tied to Massingale’s death, as well as her alleged rape and murder. No arrests have been made at this time, though an anonymous source recently came forward to confirm that a warrant for DNA swabs was obtained for two of the alleged suspects.”

This case is chock-full of confusion, at least as reported in the lead article. I have no idea how credible The Enterprise is, but to clarify:

1. KY State Police don’t expect foul play, but hospital personnel allegedly reported that she had been beaten and raped, and there are reportedly “suspects” whose DNA is the subject of a search warrant.

2. It’s unclear whether she was deceased when located or found alive and transported to a hospital where she died.

Wait a minute...she'd been beatened and raped, her car is missing, she was known to be in the company of dangerous men, she fell, jumped or was pushed off the mountain?! Sure sounds like foul play to me.
