Do you know exactly where in Fayette County/Lexington these remains were found? I live locally and don't recall any news about this. There were multiple sets of unidentified remains found in Lexington that summer, and it would help to know the location of these.

Edit: never mind, I think I've tracked this down....the remains found in the 2000 block of Versailles Road. The phrase "pipe and steel wool" give a clue; the decedent was probably a methamphetamine addict. Lexington attracts a lot of transients, panhandlers, and addicts; as a friend of mine points out, such people can't get any money begging in the small towns in KY, so they gravitate to Lexington. Those sorts are, by nature, hard to identify after death.
