Wow, the Puritan roots of our country are so apparent. Nude bike ride? Doesn't bother me. If my kids happened to witness such a thing, I'd laugh it off. And I doubt they would run screaming. Most kids would likely just laugh as well. I just don't think the naked, human body is pornographic and I don't particularly think it's damaging for kids to be exposed to it, unless they are being exposed in a purposeful, sexual manner.
In many cultures, adults are naked, or partially so, at various times, as are kids and there is no trauma and no sexual meaning attached to the naked body itself. Our puritan roots, however, have attached sexual meaning to the naked body, as well as the concept that the body is "dirty" or "sinful". That is not the attitude in many African, South American and other native cultures and it's no longer the attitude in many of the countries most of our forefathers immigrated from (Europe).
I have heard nothing about tons of sex predators or criminals gathering at this Portland event or any others like them (and there are many, around the country). Don't know why it has been stated that the event was teeming with predators and I frankly don't understand why we would associate this silly event with crime, especially sex crimes.
And to me, that's all it is - a silly event whose participants are mostly college kids and what I call "stupid hippies" (please, no offense meant. My parents were hippies. I use the term lightly and to mean people today who insist on trying to be hippies even though they have no connection whatsoever to the era or the original hippie culture and who try too hard act in a way they think is cool). These participants are mostly just immature young people trying to prove they're "cool" or "hip" or free from any "establishment" constraints. They are just silly.
No need for LE to investigate all the people at such a harmless and, IMO, ridiculous event and I feel it has absolutely zero connection with Kyron or any other major crime in OR.
Sadly, Kyron's case is simply like many where there is an abundance of proof, some revealed, some not, but not enough to sustain a conviction. Like Susan Powell's case, or Stacy Peterson's. But, I have hope. Sometimes it takes a long time, but, for example, Drew Peterson is in jail awaiting trial for the murder of Kathleen Savio, a case that was, years ago, deemed an accident when there was a ton of evidence that it was not.
And in this case, I have a lot of faith in LE. My sense is they have been doing a bang up job, working their tails off and gathering as much evidence as possible. I believe there will be an arrest and conviction in this case, eventually.
