LinasK -

Rathbun was in 1996
http://www.thebiographychannel.co.uk/biography_story/905:596/1/Model_Murders_Infamous_Murders.htm

I believe that the Hillside Stranglers also tried to lure girls to work for them - They put 2 into prostitution by inviting them to become 'models'. That was 1977 - 1978...check Ken Bianchi's pic ( http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/stranglers/kenny_4.html )

Thanks Hoping. I don't think it was the Hillside Stranglers because they worked as a team, although the time frame was right. I was approached by a single guy who told me he was a photographer and wanted to take pictures of me.

Okay found a link with a picture of Rathbun. I'm fairly sure now that it was more likely Bradford who approached me. The guy I recall had dark hair, a mustache, and was wearing a cap. http://www.francesfarmersrevenge.com/stuff/archive/oldnews3/sobeck.htm

LinasK-
I think they only did 'team killings'. Bianchi was in charge of getting the girls because he was more attractive than his cousin.

Ken Bianchi matches the description you provided.

It looks like a really good match, MasterJ.
You should call in a tip, imo.
I sent an email to the LA Sheriff's Department.

Do we know which one(s) he was married to? What was their fate, missing, deceased or still living? This is just too strange. From my guess I would say that #27 is/was a wife...But I have no idea.

Is that him in #30?

The desription matches but it wasn't Bianchi. I just recalled that their M.O. was to pose as police officers, not photographers, then I found a link that confirms that:http://www.bbc.co.uk/crime/caseclosed/hillside.shtml

During his confession Bianchi explained how he and Buono pretended to be police officers and had fake badges made up to support their charade. They found it easy to persuade prostitutes to get in their car, having convinced them they were being taken "downtown" to be booked for soliciting.

However, other women were harder to manipulate. Sometimes the pair pretended to ask for directions, or feigned working on their car, before bundling their victims into the vehicle and driving off. The victims also suffered a gruesome fate. Some were raped, strangled and dumped, whilst others, such as Kristina Weckler, were tortured before death.

My guy was clearly working the photographer angle.

I think #2 and (left) #53 are the same. Both also have a gold chain...

I think that #4 and (right) #53 are the same too, even the top is the same with these two.

I'm sorry. I guess I was mistaken.
I watched a documentary on the Hillside Stranglers, and I thought I remembered that Ken Bianchi was trying to pick up girls to become 'escorts' to make money for him and his cousin. It was his cousins idea, but Bianchi was much more good looking than Angelo Buono. He used the photographer/talent agent line to get girls to unwillingly become escorts, not murder victims.

I'm probably wrong about that. You looked at the pic and you know it's not him. I was just hoping that you didn't have to feel like you made a connection with this particular guy (with a potential 50 victims) - I guess I was wishing for the lesser of two evils. :(

But it doesn't matter - You escaped what could have been a bad situation. I'm hoping the person you encountered was not either of those two men.

#27 and #39 both have this white thing around their head, I am not sure if this is a head band of some sort. Was this a common thing that people wore "back then".

One photo, No. 28 on the display, was identified as Donnalee Campbell Duhamel, 31, whose decapitated body was found in a Malibu canyon in 1978 a few days after meeting Bradford at a bar, said sheriff's Capt. Ray Peavy.http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/07/26/state/n102813D87.DTL

...And #33 looks like one of those unidentified's they found in Texas, out of the two that looked so similar. I don't have time to look it up now though.

Yeah, I still have some of those stretchy head bands. Except it was more worn in the 60's.

Picture #18 looks like Joyce Irene Walcott

It says in the description that she was wearing a necklace with a unicorn on it...it does appear that she is wearing a necklace, but I cannot tell if it is a unicorn or not, I am playing with the picture to see if I can get better detail, but is is hard to tell...
