Hundreds are searching for a 9-year-old boy who went missing out of Evangeline Parish Friday.

According to emergency officials, Bryson Thibodeaux left his home on Chataignier Road in the Point Blue/Chataignier area around noon.

Bryson left wearing a yellow and gray-striped long-sleeve shirt and boxers. He has short hair and weighs about 42 pounds.
Bryson’s father says as he was bringing their dogs into the house after letting them outside, he thinks that’s when Bryson walked out of the front door. He says he wasn’t aware because the alarm was already going off from him opening another door to the house for the dogs.

His father says he realized he was missing when his mother called to check on him.

Bryson’s parents are asking anyone in the area to be on the lookout for Bryson and to check around their homes.

A press release from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office stated Bryson was autistic; however, the boy’s mom and teacher say he’s not. The mother told KATC’s Josh Meny there have been some “behavioral diagnoses,” but he’s not autistic.

According to KLFY TV, the Cajun Navy, local volunteers and the FBI are involved in the search.

In an interview with the adopted father, he says he went missing on Thursday at 11am? It looks horrible that apparently they didn’t report him missing for a long time.

So much misinformation between the articles, whether or not he’s autistic, etc

There’s a picture of him from a neighbors camera.

Looks like he's barefoot:(

He’s well below the 5th percentile.

Forty-two pounds would be about the 50th percentile for a five-year-old. I wonder if his diagnoses affect growth and/or feeding.

He would be off the charts tiny for both height and weight. He would actually be much further off the charts for height at 3"10 than weight at 47 pounds.

However, he would be quite proportionate, just small. So, short and skinny yes... but he would not look like a concentration camp victim like someone of average height but underweight would.

Yes, any autistic tendencies could certainly affect growth or feeding. If he has sensory issues with eating or drinking for example. Some kids are also genetically wired to be small.

If you were to add sensory issues to someone genetically wired to be small... it can be difficult to put weight on a child even with all of the weight gain supplements available to them.

At least we have him on camera leaving the house right? So we know he actually left... that's a plus I hope.
