Natchitoches Parish sheriff's officials are waiting on lab results from Baton Rouge on the skeletal remains that were found about 100 yards from Interstate 49 last week.
[LSU FACES Lab Anthropologist Mary] Manheim's initial assessment of the remains indicated they were of a white male between the ages of 30 and 45 years old, and she estimated that the remains had been in the wooded area off I-49 between two and five years.
(Emphasis Added)Because of Manheim's assessment, sheriff's investigators were focusing on an open missing persons case from Natchitoches Parish involved a 38-year-old man who disappeared about six years ago.
According to the Louisiana Repository for Unidentified and Missing Persons, an online database compiled by the FACES lab, Michael Ray Orsborn went missing on Jan. 31, 2006, from Provencal
Sheriff's officials on Wednesday, however, said they had shifted their focus away from that initial report and no longer expect that case to fit the remains that were found last week. They're awaiting for more information from the FACES lab.
