Natchitoches Parish sheriff's officials are waiting on lab results from Baton Rouge on the skeletal remains that were found about 100 yards from Interstate 49 last week.

[LSU FACES Lab Anthropologist Mary] Manheim's initial assessment of the remains indicated they were of a white male between the ages of 30 and 45 years old, and she estimated that the remains had been in the wooded area off I-49 between two and five years.

Because of Manheim's assessment, sheriff's investigators were focusing on an open missing persons case from Natchitoches Parish involved a 38-year-old man who disappeared about six years ago.

According to the Louisiana Repository for Unidentified and Missing Persons, an online database compiled by the FACES lab, Michael Ray Orsborn went missing on Jan. 31, 2006, from Provencal

Sheriff's officials on Wednesday, however, said they had shifted their focus away from that initial report and no longer expect that case to fit the remains that were found last week. They're awaiting for more information from the FACES lab.

I know he only would have been missing 6 months or so when the body was found, but just in case, maybe Shane Fell (missing from Marrero, LA - down by New Orleans - since June 2011) should be ruled out.
Just in case.

I'm not sure how accurate that composite above can be from "Not recognizable - Near complete or complete skeleton" remains.

Troy Lee Lambert?

He disappeared from Alexandria in 1996. His truck was found at the Red River (which is between 6 and 21 miles away from where this UID was found depending on 'where' at the Red River).

I finally got around to submitting Shane Fell as a possibility to the FACES lab. So we shall see....

Heard back from Helen Bouzon at FACES almost immediately. Shane Fell was ruled out by DNA. She also updated the NAMUS listing with everyone who has been ruled out as this unidentified. There are six exclusions:
The following people have been ruled out as being this decedent:

Adam Dodson DOB 1979 Louisiana
Shane Fell DOB 1974 Louisiana
James Hunter DOB 1948 Arkansas
Earl Kidder DOB 1970 Louisiana
Troy Marks DOB 1967 Louisiana
Claxton Mayo DOB 1969 Louisiana

I noticed Troy Lambert isn't on the exclusion list and sent her another email. The time seems too far in between when Troy was LKA and estimated time of death of the UID, but just in case, I asked her.

Troy Lee Lambert is not on the list of exclusions. Per FACES, there's no DNA or dentals available on Troy.

There's a big gap of time between when Troy Lambert was last known alive in 1996 & 2011, and the body is believed to have been deceased for 2 years max, so it seems unlikely.

But you never know.

Hopefully a family member will submit DNA.

Any word on Troy Lambert and this UID?

I'm a little confused because it sounds Charley Project lists Troy Lambert as missing since February 27, 2006 not 1996, so actually the timing looks like it lines up fine with the range for the UID (2001 to 2009).

Also I think that Dale Lafleur shows some facial similarities with the recon. His nose looks like it had probably been broken before as well. He went missing about an hour and a half away from where the UID was found. However, his age (68) puts him way out of the UID's range. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/14480/9/

The 1996 instead of 2006 in my post must have been my mistake (looks like I posted that at 12:49 am...note to self: triple check late night posts).

NAMUS says there's no dental or fingerprint info available for Troy, but there is an "initial inquiry underway," which is good news since earlier I was told there was no DNA on file for Troy. Sounds like they're working on getting DNA from his family to compare to this UID. Yay!
