Local BAR says JB may have to step down

I wonder if the daily hours long lawyer visits had anything to do with it??

Yes. An older lawyer with 4 kids, a bunch of grandbabies and who is solidly heterosexual!

My brother could represent her. He has a great distaste for women who try to manipulate and sleep with their attorneys. He has filed complaints with the bar over colleagues sleeping with clients. She would LOVE him. NOT!!!

Baez did do a Murder 1 case the sentencing was one of the days Casey was released from jail. I know this because there was an article that Baez was 45 minutes late and left the judge and his client waiting because he wanted to take Casey home.

OMG............no wonder they asked him to step down. He really is incompetent.

That just doesn't make sense. Since when does the bar decide what cases an atty. handles. Some thing else it up.:waitasec:

...could it be that there have been complaints made to the bar about his many odd behaviors?

A couple things...

If JB does get the boot, he will never see another dime for anything he has done for KC's case.

JB does not have the experience as a trial attorney. That was obvious with the bond hearing and then last Friday's hearing.

Several friends of mine, that are attorneys, have said that they agree that KC has the right to meet with her counsel to prepare for this trial, but that 5 hours a day is a bit much and really makes you question JB's professionalism. I think you throw all this together and I can see the Florida bar raising a red flag.

I am interested in seeing how this pans out.

NG is going to be on fire tonight if she covers this aspect!!

The Bar did make Baez take down the advertising on his web site because it was not true. He had stated he was with the Miami/Dade PD office from 1995 and won 34 of the 36 cases he tried in the first two years there. The problem was Baez was not admitted to the Florida Bar (or any other Bar) until 2005.
I know this is true because I filed the complaint with the Bar.

This is the site for the Florida Bar.
http://www.floridabar.org/tfb/flabarwe.nsf

I did go looking around and there are some things that make me think that it is a possibilty that the bar could say this, but I am not a lawyer so....
From what I could tell it has to do with abiltiy to defend certain type of cases and has to be borad certified to do so.
"Only an individual attorney who has been board certified in an area of practice pursuant to Chapter 6 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar "

I have no idea what JB is certified for and his newly done website does not say board certified or list his license number anywhere on it. It does though say practice ares ..Homicide

Guess we will have to see what else come out about this.

Ok, now I'm confused. If it was just an association of other criminal defense attornies, why did they have, what seemed to be, set standards and who, legally, can make him step down?

Perhaps this really only is to be used if the lawyer is a public defender. Casey did not get Baez' name thru the public defenders office, she got it thru fellow inmates.

It would seem to me that since she did not request counsel thru the court, she can have the attorney of her choosing.

Slap me back into shape here.......I'm watching the traffic on Fox 35 and have lost all my train of thought.

HAH he is asking for a new trial even!

That was 4 months ago. I think he was actually sentenced as this cae was starting up.

I wouldn't think that guy would want out considering this on the baby's grandfather.

The 2-year-old child, Noeris Vazquez, was the granddaughter of Wilfredo Vazquez, a former world-champion boxer in three weight classifications and a national sports hero in his native Puerto Rico. She died of a skull fracture.

That speaks volumes about his honesty, doesn't it?

NOTHING will be "concrete evidence" to her unfortunately.

They could bring that baby's skeletal remains in and give them to her and she would swear zanny killed her.

:clap::clap::clap:ABSOLUTELY:clap::clap::clap:

I saw that when I first looked up his name and thought what a liar, liar, pants on fire. I didn't jive with some of the articles I read about him. Good for you. There is a new 'motion' on the table for Florida lawyers in truth and advertising on websites and brouchers that has not been ruled on. I saw that when I was hunting around to see if the bar could get JB pulled off this case. I hope it gets passes. Every state should should have that. It's bad enough you have criminals acting like crimanls we don't need the darn lawyers fibbing about themselves too.

I would certainly rather Casey get another attorney now than see her have a basis for an appeal later.
Baez is a loser and even on his web site lied, he had only been in practice just over 2 years when he took this case, so you know it will get overturned on appeal if Baez is her attorney.
Besides now she gets to spend months in jail while her new attorney gets up to speed. :woohoo::behindbar

But wait...can they still date? :behindbar He is pathetically enamored with the future inmate.:blowkiss:

Maybe she can get Mark Gehragos now....We know how that should turn out!!

I agree. Best for all involved. Just hope it happens.

The man is an idiot................I liked him handling the case. I do not think he could find his way out of the hen house ( not that he would want to) & I sure don't think he could win this case. I say let KC keep him.
As for me, he wouldn't handle the divorce of my goat & donkey.

Poor fella:boohoo::boohoo:

He has defended a murder charge before. Just recently. But he did loose the case. It was lost right after this case was winding up.

I think that might have been a manslaughter case, not a DP case.
