I don't know if this is common knowledge here or not but the DV expert has developed her own abuse continuum, loosely based on prior examples.
It's pretty handy to come up with examples of known or expected behaviors when you're controlling the definitions. JMO

Hi, Pensfan! :seeya: Since you're here can I ask for your professional opinion?
I'm thinking, based on his testimony,
there's a pretty decent chance this psychologist is afflicted with NPD. What say you? If you don't mind...

That may have been his "before this trial" dx, but not after... I'm willing to bet that he has not only lost weight during his time on the stand, but also his pumped-up self-esteem.
Please excuse, BritsKate, for my light-heartedness here, but I couldn't resist.
Thanks for the extra info on ALV -- It will be interesting to see/hear how she will present herself and her opinions to the jury... She does deal with very heavy subject matter -- one that is
finally getting some heft and legitimacy to it. I hope she doesn't cheapen the subject matter and the long hard fight to have DV recognized as a true and sometimes deadly threat to the health of the true sufferers of DV.
Poor Samuels did, IMO, cheapen the genuine threat of PTSD in his testimony if Jodi is one of his actual examples of PTSD. His entire testimony angered me almost to tears.
Our war heroes -- anyone who went "over there" to do their duty, our dedicated safety officers, firemen, EMTs, armed service people here at home and the like do not deserve the treatment Samuels put on PTSD. Oh, so wrong, wrong, wrong. (I'm not saying that every one of the roles I just listed are PTSD sufferers, but they are all potential sufferers, along with quite a longer list of those who also have the potential to suffer it one day.) I guess I should have added, now after all we've seen lately, schoolteachers as well. <smh>
end of mini-rant...
