Wow! First I've heard of this!

Massachusetts prosecutors ask for public's help in solving mysterious 2019 murder

Paul Wilson was pronounced dead as a result of multiple blunt force injuries to his head following the discovery of his body lying on a paved pathway inside Danehy Park in Cambridge, just outside of Boston, on Jan. 2, 2019, the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office says. His family is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible as the three-year anniversary of the killing approaches.

"He connected with everybody. He did not have an enemy in this world," his sister, Elizabeth Dobbins, told Boston25 News. "Whoever killed my brother went out that night January 2nd, with bad intentions, somebody was going to get hurt."

''Over the past three years, officials have continued to investigate, including conducting forensic testing, investigating similar incidents that have occurred in Cambridge and other communities and following up with people who came forward after the attack, Ryan and Elow said.

On Jan. 2, 2019, Wilson returned from work at IBM to the Porter Square T station and rode a Blue Bike home, parking it by his house on Sherman Street before walking through the park, investigators said. Wilson was found by a passerby shortly before 6:48 p.m. on an asphalt path near the Danehy Park parking lot and dumpsters, near New Street. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and pronounced dead from blunt force trauma at around 10:18 p.m.

Wilson was approximately 6-foot-6 and was found in a location visible from the parking lot wearing shorts, a red winter coat, a winter hat and gloves, police said.

The family of Paul Wilson is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for Paul’s death.''

6' 6"!?!?! Didn't realize that at first read!

Sounds like at least 2 perpetrators imho.

Thanks for joining in!

Hard to imagine anyone choosing such a big man for an attack, especially one that did not involve a robbery.
Wondering if Paul was first struck from behind on his head in order to knock him down (to size) ?
imo, speculation, rbbm.

Investigators Return to Deadly Park Attack Scene in Cambridge
"Preliminary investigation indicates that he died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head and robbery does not appear to have played a role," Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said.
Wilson’s death is being investigated as a homicide as officials continue to search for the attacker. Authorities are still investigating to determine if the assault was random or targeted.''

''On Friday, officials blocked off a section of the paved path where Wilson was discovered and scoured a nearby body of water.
"We are advising people to use caution in this area," Ryan warned.''

Good videos @ link showing the condos where Paul lived, the park, talk to neighbours etc.
Investigators Unsure If Fatal Attack at Cambridge Park Was Random or Targeted
''Investigators said they cannot say at this time whether the attack was random or targeted. A baseball bat was found in an area nearby but authorities are still investigating whether it was the weapon used in the attack.

Wilson lived in an apartment near the park and would use the path on his way to and from work as well as recreationally, authorities said.''
"Fantastic guy. Really friendly, good neighbor," said Erin Bloom. "The whole thing is really, really sad."
"Easy going," added neighbor Chris Pallotta. "Friendly, good demeanor, always seemed like he worked from home."
''Neighbors said the park, which borders a Whole Foods store and a movie theater, is well known and frequented
. Now, they are wary of the spot due to the assault.

"It's pretty desolate at night," Cambridge resident Michelle Side said. "Now do I feel safe? I don’t know."

"I''m not going to go strolling through Danehy Park in the dark anytime soon," said Pallotta.''

''Police do not believe Wilson was robbed because he had multiple possessions on him when emergency responders found him.

At the meeting Thursday night, police and prosecutors asked the dozens of attendees to report any information related to the case, no matter how small.

Named for Mayor Thomas W. Danehy, the 50-acre park is built on the site of a former landfill. Cambridge Police Superintendent Steven DeMarco said it has been about 10 years since an assault took place in the park.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cambridge Police’s anonymous tip line at 617-349-3359, or the emergency police line at 617-349-3300.''

It sounds like he rode his bike to his apt, left it there and went straight to the park.

He was also wearing red shorts so I'm wondering if he was a frequent jogger or if there were basketball hoops w/in the park. (Only asking this because of his height and in FL, we have many parks that do have hoops and it can get mighty rowdy at times.

Had been thinking about Paul's height and basketball, also wondering if the rumble of his motorcycles outside the condos bothered anyone enough to hurt him, but doubt that- no mention if Paul was married, had a girlfriend or any other relationships, did he go on dating sites?
Complete speculation, imo.
Noting that i cross-posted with this thread..

For whatever reason, I thought the bike was a pedal variety. Either way, maybe there was a road rage incident. It seems unusual to me that he'd park his bike and then head straight to the park w/out going to his apt first. (You know, for warmer or different clothes, a snack, use his own facilities before venturing out, or dropping off work related business in a safe and dry place.)

This is still unclear to me. So, was there a bike drop near his home and then he walked through the park to get home?!

And what's the deal with motorcycles and the garage where it appears he works on them? Is this a garage at his apt?

Family Of Paul Wilson, Man Beaten To Death In Cambridge Park, Offers $10,000 Reward
''Investigators say Wilson was walking through Danehy Park on the cold night that was just steps from his Cambridge home, likely picking up takeout dinner. At six feet, six inches tall he was an imposing presence with a larger than life personality, which makes it all the more confounding for his family.

“There’s no motivation at all which is frustrating. It’s almost unimaginable how it could have happened,” said Ephraim Dobbins.''

''The family says anyone can come forward privately and confidentially. Anyone with information about the case can contact Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office at (781) 897-6600 or Cambridge Police at 617-349-3121.''

There's no mention of a wife. Just a daughter and son in law?

Paul was not married, nor did he have a daughter or a son-in-law. He has a brother and a sister. Ephraim is his sisters husband and was also one of his best friends.
