More than 15 years after a Massachusetts mother was reported missing, a man was arrested in connection with her death, police said.

Felicia McGuyer was last seen on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, in the area of Roxton Street in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. She was 32 years old when she disappeared, leaving behind her 10-year-old son.

Boston police said David Pena, 33, is currently being held in Macclenny, Florida, a small city west of Jacksonville.

Police said at the time of Pena's arrest, he was wanted on an outstanding warrant sought out of Dorchester District Court on a murder charge stemming from the death of McGuyer.

5 Investigates previously reported that a search in 2017 that involved the FBI in a wooded area of West Roxbury was connected to McGuyer's disappearance.

The Boston Police Department said it was not common for McGuyer “to be out of touch with her son, other family and friends.” He was 10 years old at the time. McGuyer’s mother reported her missing Oct. 17, 2007.

David Pena was held without bail after Tuesday’s plea in connection with the presumed death of Felicia McGuyer, who was reported missing by her mother in October 2007. She has not been heard from since, police said.

“Pena’s prosecution is the result of a lengthy investigation by the Boston Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office," authorities said in a statement.

Pena's lawyer did not argue for bail. An email seeking comment was sent to the defense attorney.

Details of Disappearance

McGuyer was last seen on Roxton Street in Dorchester, Massachusetts on October 7, 2007. She left her eleven-year-old son behind and has never been heard from again. Her mother reported her missing ten days later. Her son and other family membners stated they thought she would have contacted them if she could have.

At the time of her disappearance, McGuyer was living with her boyfriend, David Pena. He stated he was involved in a physical altercation with her inside their apartment, she stabbed him in the shoulder with scissors, and he left and went to his mother's house. When he returned a few days later, he said, McGuyer was gone and all her belongings had been moved out.

In 2017, authorities located a witness who said that in the days after Pena and McGuyer's fight, he helped Pena moved something wrapped in carpeting and a blanket. They disposed of the bundle in a wooded area, somewhere in the vicinity of Boston. During the moving, the witness said he recognized the object he was helping move as McGuyer's body.

In January 2023, Pena was arrested in Florida and charged with McGuyer's murder and with an unrelated count of cocaine trafficking. He is awaiting trial.

McGuyer's remains have never been found. Foul play is suspected in her case due to the circumstances involved.
