Madeleine: Police in Cartagena investigates witness information that say they saw the girl

Múrcia, Espanha, 23 Ago (Lusa) – Agents of Guardia Civil in Cartagena, close to Murcia (Spain), are investigating the claim of two women who, last Tuesday, said they had seen Madeleine McCann, a police source told Lusa today.

The source explained that two women presented themselves to Guardia Civil at the early evening of Tuesday and assured they had seen the British child at a gas station close to Tentegorra, in the municipal district of Cartagena.

According to the witnesses, the girl was accompanied by a man who, after realizing that the women were observing him, hurried the child into the car, a Citroen ZX model.

The parents of Madeleine McCann had manifested their confidence that their daughter would be alive and in Spain, in interviews that were printed on Wednesday by three Spanish newspapers.

Madeleine McCann, 4, disappeared on May 4, from an apartment at Praia da Luz, Lagos.

So suddenly they are interested in Spain..? when Madeleine was seen all over the freakin place and they just thumbed their nose at those sightings.. Now suddenly they are are talking about Spain and the sightings there like they might be real...? Odd that the McCann's react this way about potential sightings when the LE seem to be getting close to something....

Oh, isn't that lovely....Gerry says "*advertiser censored** off" in front of all those little kids....first time I think I've seen this.

I've seen this video before and G didn't say that. I think this was edited in by someone. I have a hard time believing they would send out a video to the news media with him cussing in front of his kids. I know they are pretty stupid but I am not buying into this one...

And doubly strange when you consider colomom's post above where the McCanns seem to be the originators of the "Madeleine's dead" theory.

Did Tanner and OBrien have a babysitter or a listening monitor at least? I am really confused.

David and Fiona Payne, whom have two young children, were the only couple in the group whom used the babyphone system to keep watch over the children during dinners.

No surprise there then!!!
Or that what the press reported her as saying has been believed as fact.

I have never had much faith in the UK tabloids. But I have even less faith in the Portugese press who have told :liar: after:liar: in a deliberate smear campaign. IMO

Hopefully soon the truth will out.....Whatever that may be.
But one things for sure, it will be no thanks to the press.

I thought the Paynes used a babysitter and the Oldfields used the baby-phone.

My interpretation to Mrs. Fenn's "It's rubbish" was her anger about how the JP waited three months before getting around to talking to her.

I do recall that one family used the baby-phone and the other used a sitter.

No, the Payne's used the babyphone service and were also not amongst those who were apparently up and down checking on the children (according to the time-line), because they didn't have to.

As an aside, having just been on holiday, I can say that I had serious reservations about leaving my child with the childcare team provided. For instance - my child went to the children's club and came back with a decorated candle... as did 30 or so of them - the day after a huge hotel fire back in the UK in Cornwall.

I could go on about the 'carers' - the two teenage girls who didn't seem to have much of a clue about safe childcare, at one point the children were put in real danger, although they were very kind.

....So maybe the McCanns took a close look at the care on offer and decided to pass. I have also read that as the holiday took place in early May - which is out of season as far as many Portuguese holidays are concerned - the childcare services were not fully operable.

the hotel has stated in the papers that the childcare services were available those days.

Additionally, apparently the caregivers were perfectly adequate during the day when the children were at the creche (is this "nursery"? whats the translation?) all day, every day. Not sure why suddenly at night they'd become unacceptable, or how possibly no adult could be safer than young and foolish adult in this particular case.

Whats rubbish? I dont' understand HELP some portugese speaking person!

Hi Beth--The portugese does not directly translate Mrs Fenn's comment.

I had a hard time understanding her English, to be honest. She said she has been there three months and as I understood her to say *it is rubbish* that the PT police interviewed her earlier. Looks like she was being escorted by some security person from her car to apartment.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. They're going to sue huh? Why they'd be after money at this point in the case doesn't make them look any better in my eyes.

So I guess you will not be taking the case pro bono?????:blowkiss:

Well, since the McCanns were the ones who left their children alone in a hotel room 120 yards away with unlocked doors, they don't seem to have much grounds to sue anyone else for ruining their reputations.

No I think they pretty much took care of that themselves. Boy if I was them I would not want to go back home and face all those people.

I am going to toss out my idea of what happened that night... Kids put to bed drugged... because the little ones are smaller the drug probably affected them more than it did 'M'. Parents and friends off drinking 150 feet away... and NOT checking. Burgler enters scene, walks in unlocked door, but before he can do anything there stands a 3 year old awake. I think the perp panicked and did the unthinkable, then perhaps he heard something and just picked her up and ran in the panic.. and I think they then disposed of her. I think the blood left at the scene was hers but perhaps they had time to quickly wipe it before they ran. I think all the lies are to cover their arses for not only leaving their children alone but drugging them. Fear of losing the last two has pushed them to lie...
Just my opinion of course........... and I hope I am wrong and I hope and pray she is found safe and happy and eating a bowl of ice cream in a happy home.
