Exactly. Same quotes, two vastly different narratives in those two articles. Interpreting the meaning of quote without knowing the context of the question being asked is unwise. JMO
It's a general news wire release imo and each editors take on it.

Random question: is it possible that search dogs have been trained to search for something unique to the CB investigation, rather than something they may usually search for? Or would that be too much ‘honeytrapping’ for want of a better word? As a (poor) example, would it be legally permissible to train a dog to search for chlorinated swimsuits rather than any kind of clothing?
Imo legally it wouldn't be a problem, logistics would be though, how many separate dogs would need to kept for ever increasing specialist searching, once again imo its usually Cadaver , drugs or fire arms that are the focus.

“Several items were removed from the site, which may or may not be of relevance, the publication said. They include a bra strap, pieces of clothing and plastic items.”

From the below article. Doesn’t look like these things are of much relevance to the MM investigation. Over 16 years with people camping in the area, very likely just random junk.

Saw that too. Indeed these could just be random junk as the site was frequented by other lifevaners ... I doubt these are what the times has termed as possible clues!

I've been away for a few days and a lots been going on I see. Haven't caught up yet, but here is a pic I have of camper vans at Barragem da Bravura, there is a camper with the same colour scheme as a Tiffin/Winnebago next to the tall post, but I think too small to actually be?. I'm not sure when the image is from but when I looked into the area before I think I concluded it is pre 2010 using Google Earth.

Thank you for posting this image.Someone made an interesting point earlier in the thread as to whether Brueckner’s T3 could have made it to the site where the search was being held. I believe he also had a Jaguar XJR at the time so he could have also used this. It’s unclear from the news articles whether some of the search along the water’s edge was basically a water search because of the reservoir having dried up which may have given them easier access but there didn’t appear to be any signs of the team digging there? It appeared only in the specific site that was thought to be where he camped out with the 8 holes made by the search team. The undergrowth and trees growing over his paradise campsite could be a boon for the search team with the site being more preserved. I would love to know what tip off the lawyer had received in 2008 to fund a water search.

I do have the same opionin as yours, according to the colour.

Well, a Tiffin allegro isn't that much wider oder higher than any other campervan, as shown in the pic as well. So just the length of about 9 meters should make a difference.

Welcome back!

What is interesting with this new search is that it’s very close to Sao Bartolommeu de Messiness. Am I recalling correctly, did you once mention that you had located the picture on the VW T3 (the one with the small wooden posts and CB’s three-finger salute) to this area?

I would be interested to know exactly where.

I thought the below was interesting.

@mrjitty this, I think, confirms your question about EXIF data. They could have him at the lake within a few days of MM disappearing. I can’t think of any other geolocation clues - perhaps an old Navman or something.

“The tip-off - plus geolocation clues found in the convicted rapist and paedophile’s vile stash of 8,000 of videos and images - is understood to have sparked the search.

“Concrete” information from the former friend of the fiend is understood to have led dozens of officers to the remote site.”

I found a good pic for comparison. The Tiffin isn't that huge or big. But it's looooooong....

If they find cremated human remains in the soil, it could corroborate his confession to HB. It may also explain why they expected to find evidence of other bodies. That may be part of his confession to HB or others. They should be able to extract DNA.

If they find nothing, will that throw doubt on his confession ?
Theoretically yes, Defence could argue HB is lying and was just looking for money.

There is a UK case (Causley) though of a prisoner on remand confessing to murder to 3 different lags and 3 wildly different methods of disposal. The body was never found. Causeley confessed to murder to get parole but wouldn’t give up where he disposed of the body.

I am probably being a little obtuse here, but did CB even have the Allegro in Portugal shortly after MM disappeared?
MS has said, CB turned up with a "big" campervan in March 2008 at Orgiva's dragon festival in spain. So i would say probably yes!

it's quite a long article, but the interesting part for me is the camera or more importantly what any tape may hold.I think the much vaunted image that some believe is Madeline is nothing but the photo of the reservoir with surrounding area.

I’ve read 8000 is some news reports and others say 20000 images and videos

That's almost a year later. I thought he obtained it in Germany around June 2007
As we understand it, he purchased it in Tomar on or around 3.5.07. He parked it at Villa Bianca where he showed it to DF in or around May 2007 (DF isn’t entirely sure when he was there). MT said it turned up in Orgiva end of May/early June 07. CB went on to Berlin/Augsburg/Sylt.

The confession to HB was at the March 2008 Orgiva festival (shortly after the MC Arcade dam search.)
