If people are supplying drugs illegally, yep - they should be charged.

Yet another celebrity might be involved, besides Brooke Mueller:

"Now, in another world exclusive, In Touch has exclusively learned that a second celebrity friend could be entangled in Matthew’s drug death investigation, which is being conducted by the LAPD, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. According to a source, this second star and Matthew both claimed to be sober but were in fact 'walking pharmacies' who engaged in late-night chats about their addictions, sobriety battles and personal lives."

I think it's possible Matthew had been contemplating suicide for awhile. He sold all his real estate and set his assets up into a Trust ($120M+) was renting the home in which he died, wrote his 'tell all' book just a couple of years before he died. He had a very specific will spelled out, and part of that was setting up the Matthew Perry Foundation, helping those fighting the disease of addiction. Good on him.

He was the funniest member of the cast in Friends IMO, even though he didn't receive the most attention or praise.

IDK, he just seemed so tired of it all to me and became so reclusive in his last years. The dose of Ketamine he had in his system was way over the therapeutic amount and if it can be proven who gave/sold it to him, charge them IMO. Although I believe if someone wants to die by suicide, there isn't much anybody can do to stop them.

RIP Matthew

"Matthew Perry’s death is poised to expose a seedy underbelly of Hollywood drug dealing — with some well known names caught up in the investigation into the ‘Friends’ star’s fatal ketamine overdose.

Page Six is told the LAPD — which is overseeing the criminal investigation in conjunction with the US Drug Enforcement Administration and the US Postal Inspection Service — is now preparing for a press conference to announce possible charges, which could even include involuntary manslaughter."

An arrest was made in Southern California on Thursday in connection with the accidental overdose death of actor Matthew Perry, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

Perry, 54, was found face down in the heated end of a pool at his Pacific Palisades home on Oct. 28, 2023. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office attributed his death to the acute effects of ketamine, an anesthetic with psychedelic properties.

Los Angeles police said in May that it was working with federal authorities to investigate the source of the ketamine Perry had consumed.

This report says multiple people arrested, but not including Charlie Sheen's ex-wife Brooke Muller.

"Multiple people have been arrested in connection with Matthew Perry’s overdose death, according to TMZ.

The outlet reported Thursday that at least one doctor and several drug dealers have been arrested following law enforcement launching an investigation into Perry’s passing.....

The DEA, U.S. Postal Service and LAPD are all involved in the investigation, which was confirmed in May."

From the article:

Guess it's uncommon if you're unfortunate enough to just be a normal member of society.
I have seen lots of comments on news stories from people upset this was being followed up on. In most overdoses, there may not be any way to determine who provided the drugs. But in this case there was, because it was probably given by a physician. I fully support these investigations.

I believe the medical care given to Matthew Perry was negligent was seems to have contributed to his death.

But police do arrest street dealers and smugglers and kingpins and gang enforcers, etc, all the time, constantly.

It's just not in the news, and not associated with the name of a particular victim who overdosed, although the investigation may have started with their phone contact...

IMO, what people resent is that Matthew Perry is famous and their loved one is not. IMO, that's the fault of the media, not the police.

Matthew Perry’s personal assistant, two doctors and several others have been indicted and charged with providing the ketamine that caused the death of Mr. Perry, the “Friends” star, in October, the authorities said on Thursday.

In documents filed in federal court in California, prosecutors said that Mr. Perry’s assistant and an acquaintance had worked with two doctors and a drug dealer to procure thousands of dollars worth of ketamine for Mr. Perry, who had long struggled with substance abuse and addiction, in the weeks leading up to his death.

The charges against them include conspiracy to distribute ketamine; distribution of ketamine resulting in death; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; and altering and falsifying records related to a federal investigation.

Mr. Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa; another doctor, Mark Chavez; and Erik Fleming, an acquaintance of Mr. Perry’s, were all charged separately with counts including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, according to a person with knowledge of the situation who was granted anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

From presser:
Investigating revealed an underground drug network, and one of the defendants was involved in furnishing drugs to another victim who died. They are now being charged in that case, as well as MP's. IMO: Thank heavens they kept digging, because now one more family may get justice.
Back to the presser. There's a LOT of info coming out.

The defendants arrested today are charged in an 18-count superseding indictment returned on Wednesday with distributing ketamine to Perry during the final weeks of the actor’s life:

  • Jasveen Sangha, 41, a.k.a. “The Ketamine Queen,” of North Hollywood; and
  • Dr. Salvador Plasencia, 42, a.k.a. “Dr. P,” of Santa Monica.
Sangha and Plasencia are charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Sangha also is charged with one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute ketamine, and five counts of distribution of ketamine.

Sangha was aware of the danger of ketamine: In August 2019, Sangha sold ketamine to victim Cody McLaury in the hours before his overdose death. After a family member of McLaury’s sent Sangha a text message saying that her ketamine had killed McLaury, Sangha conducted a Google search for “can ketamine be listed as a cause of death[?]” The superseding indictment alleges that Sangha nonetheless continued to sell ketamine from her stash house.

The superseding indictment alleges that Sangha’s distribution of ketamine on October 24, 2023, caused Perry’s death. Plasencia is charged with seven counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of altering and falsifying documents or records related to the federal investigation.

The three other defendants – charged separately – are:

  • Eric Fleming, 54, of Hawthorne, who pleaded guilty on August 8 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Fleming admitted in court documents that he distributed the ketamine that killed Perry. He further admitted to obtaining the ketamine from his source, Sangha, and to distributing 50 vials of ketamine to Perry’s live-in personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa – half of them four days before Perry’s death.
  • Kenneth Iwamasa, 59, of Toluca Lake, who conspired with Sangha, Fleming, and Plasencia to illegally obtain ketamine and distribute it to Perry. Iwamasa, who pleaded guilty on August 7 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death, admitted to repeatedly injecting Perry with ketamine without medical training, including performing multiple injections on Perry on October 28, 2023 – the day Perry died.
  • Dr. Mark Chavez, 54, of San Diego, a physician who has agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. Chavez admitted in his plea agreement to selling ketamine to Plasencia, including ketamine that he had diverted from his former ketamine clinic. Chavez also obtained additional ketamine to transfer to Plasencia by making false representations to a wholesale ketamine distributor and by submitting a fraudulent prescription in the name of a former patient without that patient’s knowledge or consent.
