This case may or may not have been hindered intentionally by family members, but what you say regarding such hindrance or non-cooperation in other cases is very true. There are many examples of it, including the circumstances surrounding Lloyd Lee Welch, Jr. Also, look at the case of Kimberly Christine Mileo (missing from Maryland since June 1983).

This is a great picture of her, and the image quality is a lot better now. I guess it is her school picture. The corners of her lips are turned up in what appears to be a slight smile, but something seems off. She doesn't look very happy.

I guess you can say that these were different times and people didn't do a lot of prying. Maybe people just... didn't want to know. Couldn't confront the truth or didn't want to seem intrusive. Also, Karen Kamsch was not a cute little kid when she went missing as was Caleigh Anthony, to use a more recent example, but simply written off at the time as a teenage runaway. This girl's teachers, school administration, neighbors and everyone else just closed the book on this one and took the runaway story at face value. No investigation, press coverage, or any of that.

I know none of us make the decisions on what missing child cases garner all the major press and national attention, but there exists a huge disparity between the ongoing, near-constant fascination over a case like (again) Caleigh Anthony's and the apparent lack thereof concerning Karen's case. I'm not suggesting Caleigh Anthony's murder shouldn't have garnered the sympathy it did, or that that little girl was any less deserving of justice (which sadly was not served).

When a parent or family member has a hand in their own child or grandchild's death, it's horrible no matter what the specific circumstances. However, because Caleigh Anthony's mother was an attractive woman who liked to party, and because it was a different time and little Caleigh was so young and cherubic, that case generated tons of attention (and still, rightfully, does) and led to a sensationalistic trial, whereas Karen is all but forgotten and no one has been charged in any way. It isn't right, but it's how things stand.

I hope that regardless of whether or not his sister's remains are ever found and laid to rest, Tate can somehow find a way move on with his life. He can take some comfort in the fact that, unlike his other family members, he really fought for his sister.

I guess LE never released more information about what was found at the bottom of the well, if anything. I do wonder if they might have found something (fragments?) but no DNA due to it being underwater for decades.
Karen was allegedly abused (as mentioned earlier in the thread). What a real shame if they got away with that, or with worse.

I completely forgot to say it but yes, Karen is not Princess Doe. I’d love to believe she ran away and just hasn’t made contact with her brother yet but I am beginning to understand why they suspect her grandma and others were involved in her disappearance
