Having a hard time figuring out why it would be important for the public not to know

showing a 30-45 minute drivetime - seems weird to ground transport if patients were critical

agree and a local outlet was carrying on about the med hel just taking off from the scene

No I am starting to move that direction - there is no reason for this other than that

but the ambulance ride had to be interesting if the EMS folks were not--- lets say "enlightened"

And in a strange way I almost think him -- more prone to violence generally speaking etc etc pure speculation of course

but frankly that really needs to be the situation there is no reason - just by accident to refer to a gender just in talking

by that mean it has to be an overt choice to leave it out

it also fits throughout the event it was always suspect or shooter was or was not in custody from the beginning

NBC usage (shooter a woman) based on local affiliate's reporting. Reporters have to verify, sometimes with two sources depending on the rank of LE or the news org's specifications etc. NBC apparently comfortable with source used.
