The following comment from the Sheriff is interesting .... with all the calls for video and photo and anything folks can contribute ... and the statement that they don't have a solid suspect ... stressing that he doesn't think there is a threat is well ... telling. Don't you think? MOO

“We don’t have one solid suspect in this case,” Gahler said in an interview. While the sheriff advised residents to be cautious and pay attention to their surroundings, he stressed that he did not think there was a threat to the broader Bel Air community.

They said the same thing in the Abby and Libby case though, and it turned out a random person (allegedly) murdered them. So I take that with a grain of salt. MOO

I couldn't access your link but thank you, it led me to google the headline and I found this:

MG, whose daughter was friends with 37-year-old Rachel, joined the search and called police when he discovered her body in a drain in a tunnel on the Ma and Pa trail in Maryland.

The way in which the mother-of-five's body was found caused cops to launch a homicide investigation - even before formal identification of the corpse was completed.

Speaking about his search efforts, local MG told WMAR: 'I got down and searched the tunnels because I had a feeling about these tunnels.

'And I walked forward to search the one tunnel, and they searched the one, and that's where they found her.

(Police have not confirmed the specific location where Rachel was found)

Do tunnels typically have drains? I am trying to think what that would look like.... It would be a safety hazard in the dark?

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler, who was in FOX45 News studios Tuesday morning, said investigators have spoken with the boyfriend but are unable to say if he's a suspect.

"Right now the investigators are working every lead possible," said Gahler. "We have said quite clearly there's no single suspect [and] until we are able to narrow it down to one person, everyone's suspect."

"I think people feel uneasy that they haven't found a suspect yet," said McManus. "I want to feel the way I felt last week [before the murder]. I want to feel more safe."

Harford County sheriff's deputies are keeping a close watch on the trail and have increased patrols along it.

I have a question. Do we know for certain that she ever went to that trail as opposed to being placed there some time later (as in after dark)?

I see from the report that they are asking for video footage. Has anyone else come forward before this time to say "Yeah, I saw her [at/enter the trail around 6 pm]?

<modsnip - social media comments are rumor and as such can not be discussed here>

It looks likely that she got there around 6pm as previously stated, and likely never left...this was a high enough risk crime as it is (public location, daylight hours) I don't think it reasonable that she was taken to another location after she got to the trails, and then the body brought back and dumped...too much risk of being seen. I suspect the crime probably took place near where the body was found.

At this point I think it likely a stranger or stalker....and they seized an opportunity to target a small female alone on the trail.

Were her kids with the BF while she was on the trails? If so, then it’d seem like he had a decent alibi. While I typically assume the BF, in this case it just doesn’t seem like it. Maybe because they’ve barely been dating, 5 days seems a bit early in a relationship to kill someone.

Everything I've seen saying that hasn't been confirmed by LE yet (including the comment alluded to above by SYP), but it would explain why there's no primary suspect. That's a pretty airtight alibi.

They have not been dating for only 5 days, they just changed their status on Facebook 5 days prior. While we do not know how long they have been in a relationship, IMO people usually wait a little while before publicly changing their status.

And a lot of times from what I've observed, people with children and/or that have kids with an ex, in her case multiple, wait even longer to change status to avoid potential drama. Again, no clue how long they've been together but my now husband and I waited 6 months before changing ours when we first started dating as he had kids.

Apologies if this has already been posted. MA PA Heritage Trail
(This trail looks huge)

90 tips received as of this morning
Thanks for that link for the trail. Website indicates they have Trail Monitors. I wonder what hours they are usually there (Trail Monitors | MA PA Heritage Trail). Was it a Trail Monitor that found her? Bold/Red added by me.

Trail Monitors Duties:

Volunteer trail monitors help the Harford County Department of Parks & Recreation maintain a visible presence on the trail. They answer questions, report maintenance issues to the county and can handle minor issues of concern (such as requesting that a dog owner leash his/her dog.) The monitors carry cell phones and can call for emergency assistance if needed.

Responsibility of a Trail Monitor:

Greet trail users keep a friendly and positive atmosphere.

Report all safety issues and other trail concerns. Maintenance issues including; fallen trees obstructing trails, soft wood on bridges, erosion on trails, broken fences, unclean bathrooms, animal carcasses, graffiti, etc are to be reported to a Park and Recs Specialist. Make note and send a picture if possible, nature of the issue as well as the location.

All emergencies or public nuisances call 911 and give location of closest road access. Defibrillators are located in the Women’s washroom near Annie’s Playground Fallston and inside the Woodshop (locked on weekends) at the Heavenly Waters parking lot.

Clearing the corridor of downed light branches or trash they encounter on their trail outings. This is especially true on heavily used trails or after windy days.

Lightly trim briers and vines obstructing the trails as needed especially on bridges.

Clean billboards at each trailhead of outdated flyers and personal interest ads. “All postings on billboards should be Harford County Government related, events on the MA & PA trail. etc. No personal or business ads should be there.” All flyers must be approved by Parks and Recreation Specialist.

The Daily Mail reported that she was found by the father of a friend of hers, who helped search.

Interesting about the trail monitors...

Michael Gabriszeski said he and his daughter had joined other volunteers in looking for the missing 37-year-old mom when they found her remains in a drain of the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air on Sunday afternoon.

“I kept telling them to search the tunnels, because I had a feeling about those tunnels,” he told told WMAR-2.

“I walked forward to search the one tunnel, and they searched the [other] one, and that’s where they found her,” he said of his daughter and another friend.

“Not knowing whether this was a targeted event specific to Rachel, we are going to say, yes, be aware, be thinking there could be somebody out here and this is a random event,” Jeffery Gahler, the Harford County sheriff told local news outlet WBAL.

Wow, so they're not even sure she was targeted at this point. Methinks the BF has a solid alibi.

Has anyone found a link to where this video can be viewed? I can only find stills.

Could this case possibly be related? Locals, are these two areas close?

Over 50 miles apart, greenbelt is just north of dc, bel air is north of baltimore.

I was just going to bring up Abby & Libby, too. While I understand that there are certain things LE needs to hold back for investigative purposes and they don't want to cause panic, I think we've entered an era where many if not most LE agencies hold back way too much just because they can. I believe the community does have some right to the information needed to assess and plan for our own safety and just for the sake of transparency. We don't even have a scanner in Denver anymore. It doesn't do much for trust when you can't even find out that the reverse 911 call you got to shelter in place was about a shooting on your block and whether any of your neighbors were hurt or killed and whether there's a suspect in custody etc. Just to name a real incident that happened to my family three weeks ago!
