I have not found much over the years about her disappearance. I wonder if her parents are still alive? Did she have siblings that are actively looking for her?
I'd like to note that Shannon does not appear to be missing from the city of Baltimore, but instead from Parkville, which is a town in Baltimore County. A few sources, including Doe Network and this article say the house was in Parkville (Doe Network also gives the location as Baltimore, but people often get confused between Baltimore County and City). Additionally, her case is being investigated by Baltimore County police, not Baltimore City -- they're different departments -- and they give a more precise location: the 2300-block of Foster Avenue, 21234. For those who aren't familiar with this area of MD, Baltimore County surrounds Baltimore City and it's generally more suburban.

Details of Disappearance
Shannon was last seen in Baltimore, Maryland on March 3, 1984. She resided in the 2300 block of Foster Avenue at the time. She apparently climbed out of her bedroom through a window in the middle of the night and went to attend a party. She has never been heard from again. She left a note behind.
Shannon's parents were separated at the time of her disappearance and she lived with her mother. Her father lived in Mississippi. Shannon was reportedly looking forward to visiting him there that summer, and she seemed happy.
Originally it was believed that Shannon had left of her own accord and gone to stay with her father or another relative, but now she is considered to be missing under suspicious circumstances.
Shannon's mother received a letter from her on March 8, five days after she disappeared; it was postmarked Orlando, Florida. No one has heard from Shannon since then.
Prior to her disappearance, she made several long-distance telephone calls to Florida, Colorado and Mississippi. It is unknown if the calls were related to her disappearance, which remains unsolved. Due to the lack of information in Shannon's case, it is classified as a non-family abduction.
I scouted back to try to find out what that was all about. On page 1 of this thread, there’s a speculation that she might have survived a few years, gotten breast implants, and might be Lake Ponchetrain Jane Doe. Only speculation.
What I really don't understand is why he would get up and leave in the middle of the night, leaving a note about going to a party, if he already had plans to go to his dad's house during the summer. That doesn't make sense to me. Even for a 13 year old. It's not that they forbade her from going to his father's house. And I guess she already had travel arrangements, so she wouldn't have to figure out how to get there by herself in the middle of the night. The note about the party is what really baffles me... I mean... why leave a note like that if she was actually on the run? Her not returning from a supposed party would be alarming and warrant police intervention the next morning... Well, at least she should have... but if she never planned to return, why would she want the police to possibly out alert?
