One of Drew Peterson's adult sons appeared Thursday before a Will County special grand jury investigating the disappearance of Peterson's fourth wife and the mysterious drowning of his third wife, but declined afterward to discuss the case.

Stephen Peterson, 28, an Oak Brook police officer, arrived in uniform Thursday morning at the Will County Court Building Annex, where the grand jury meets. About three hours later, he left the building and drove off in his marked squad car.

Federal investigators are taking a look at the 2004 death of Kathleen Savio and the police investigation that followed the mysterious drowning of Savio, Drew Peterson's third wife.

Their effort, according to a law enforcement source, will include reviewing documents related to Savio's death, which initially was ruled an accident.

The FBI has been assisting the State Police in their probe into the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, the former Bolingbrook sergeant's current wife.

A minister who counseled Stacy Peterson months before her Oct. 28 disappearance dismissed allegations by her husband and his attorney that there was a "connection" between them.

In a brief interview Friday, Rev. Neil Schori said the comments made by ex-Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson and his attorney, Joel Brodsky, this week were "absolutely slanderous" and that the situation is "altogether sad."

12/14/2007 MyFoxChicago VIDEO: Investigators follow money trail from Drew Peterson to his son.

Craig Wall reporting for Fox News: "Sources have confirmed that prosecutors have subpoenaed bank records that show Drew Peterson, in the weeks after his wife’s disappearance funneled nearly a quarter of a million dollars to his son Steve, an Oak Brook police officer. Steve Peterson has now testified twice before the Grand Jury investigating Stacy Peterson’s disappearance and although he declined to comment, a law enforcement source said prosecutors most assuredly would want answers about the money trail.

According to sources, Drew Peterson has transferred more than $250,000 to his son from several bank accounts including joint accounts he held with Stacy. Investigators found that Drew wrote as many as six checks to Steve all within a few days in mid November including one check for more than $150,000.

Tonight Drew Peterson declined to comment and so did his attorney.

Joel Brodsky: "I'm not going to comment on my clients personal financial affairs. I'm sure, and if that’s true, I'm not even sure on whether or not it is, I'm sure there's legitimate reasons for it."

One legal expert says Peterson’s motive could be to protect his assets in case he gets sued. Tonight Kathleen Savio’s sister said the family has indeed contacted lawyers about filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Drew. He was in the mist of divorcing Kathleen when she mysteriously died in her bathtub in 2004.

Also tonight Fox News has learned that state police have asked prosecutors for another search warrant for additional cell phone records relating to Drew.

ROMEOVILLE -- The search of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal for missing mom Stacy Peterson is based on cell phone records showing her husband Drew Peterson was near there when he received an anxious call from his sister-in-law, a source said.

The sister-in-law, Cassandra Cales, has said she called Drew Peterson's cell phone about 11 p.m. Oct. 28. Stacy Peterson was last seen that morning. Cales said Peterson sounded out of breath and said he was at his home. But Cales said she was outside his house and he was not there.

Now, a source says, cell phone records show Drew Peterson was somewhere near Romeoville by the Sanitary and Ship Canal.

"When Cassandra called Drew's phone, it pinged near that area," the source said.

A pastor who says Stacy Peterson confided in him a few weeks before she went missing spilled details of their alleged conversation on national TV a few days ago. Was that ethical?

That pastor, Neil Schori of the Naperville Christian Church, isn't talking now. But the president of the seminary that trained him says he can't imagine "what would prompt that breach of confidentiality."

JUST IN - JUDGE RULES IN SGT. PETERSON CASE
by Greta Van Susteren

Judge Won’t Let Ex-Cop Drew Peterson Get Guns, Cars Back

Monday , December 17, 2007

A judge ruled against former police officer Drew Peterson’s request Monday to get his 11 guns, two cars and computers back after investigators seized them in connection to this disappearance of his wife.

Peterson, a suspect in the disappearance of his 23-year-old wife Stacy, wants his 11 guns, two cars, children’s computers and other items returned.

Stacy was reported missing on Oct. 29 after she failed to show up at a friend’s house. Drew Peterson has denied any involvement in her disappearance, but police have named him a suspect.

Peterson will get his iPod and music CDs back on Jan. 1. Another hearing to review the return of more items is scheduled for Jan. 21.

Meanwhile, Peterson’s lawyer wants a special prosecutor to review leaks from a grand jury.

Peterson's attorney Joel Brodsky had sought to force the state to return Stacy Peterson's Pontiac Grand Prix and Drew Peterson's GMC Yukon Denali.

Brodsky also sought the return of 11 guns Drew Peterson owns, as well as some computers and a number of Stacy Peterson's personal effects.

He also submitted a letter requesting that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate potential violations of state grand jury secrecy laws, stemming from alleged leaks to the media.

Will County judge this morning denied a request from Drew Peterson’s attorney to get back two vehicles, 11 guns and other items seized from the former Bolingbrook police sergeant’s home as part of the investigation into Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

At the same hearing, Peterson’s attorney Joel Brodsky asked Judge Daniel J. Rozak to appoint a special prosecutor to look into “leaks” from the grand jury reviewing the disappearance of Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, and the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
