With no history of violence and a congregation of only about 35 or so, I don't know that anybody really thought about that.

I worry about what kind of access she had to other children though :(

I wonder about her own children. If she killed Sandra, did she abuse the children already under her roof?

After reading about her last night on here, I am happily not surprised that she was arrested. She, quite obviously, has some serious mental issues (I'm not saying she was 'insane' at the time) because some of the things she stated just didn't make sense. I also don't believe the 'internal bleeding' bit at the hospital. Yes, I believe she was at the hospital but wasn't she the only one that said why she was at the hospital? I'm thinking perhaps she tried to harm herself. I don't think the grandparents had any idea that she commited this murder. By the wording of the statement from police, it wasn't an accident, it was 'murder'. I'm betting the grandparents took her in to help her take care of her daughter and also to keep an eye on her knowing that she is a troubled soul. Perhaps they thought that she just needed a relationship with God in order to get past her mental troubles (there are some churchy people that think that way). OMG, makes you kinda afraid to let your kids go anywhere without you, even to friend's houses...you can't even trust the moms.

Sorry for rambling, I just woke up and haven't had coffee yet.

Santa Ana? Irvine? Ask JBean, she's down that way...

My son was born at Orange County MC in the city of Orange (1976). It's now called Irvine Medical Center. Hope this helps.
ETA: Sorry - I thought you were still trying to figure out place where perp was born

Wow - just wow! One thing that hit me about the article: MH said the video was of Sandra skipping on her way back to their house. How does MH know Sandra was heading there if she never made it? Sounds suspicious.

What an insightful post, imo. And your first! Congrats! :)

She forgot about the suitcase and left it on the driveway.

When she got to the church, Huckaby’s grandmother called and said she found her keys and cell phone. Huckaby said that’s when she realized she had left the $200 suitcase outside. When her family went out to get it, they said it was gone.

“So I talked to the assistant manager at the mobile home park and asked him to keep an eye out for this suitcase, someone took it,” Huckaby said. “I also told some older kids to look out for it. I didn’t think much then because, you know, kids were getting out of school and I thought that maybe someone, maybe someone walking by just took it.”

She called Tracy police intending to file a report, but decided to do it online. She never got around to it.

She is lying! Sgt. T. Sheneman said there was no such call or report. So she said she called them, but changed her mind and was going to do it online...yet never got around to it! What did she say when she "called Tracy police" then?! Excuse the ring?

SS, you where right on the money, I have to give you credit, you are on alot of cases.

BTW, I cant believe that she killed a little girl what a . FGS she's a mother too.

Do you think she was the one who disposed of her - alone?

I wonder what caused all the searching and forensic searches at the church and it's shed?

Do you think she wrote the note from Sandra? What about FWilliams delivering it to the memorial site?

Note: this thread was started less than 12 hours before the arrest....danm we are good! Excellent sleuthin' by everyone!

Thank you! I am so glad to hear of MH's arrest. And a little scared, too! You think you know who your children are going to play with - who the parents are. Now hopefully the whole truth will come out and provide some answers. What a senseless tragedy. Bless Sandra and her family....

Please can somebody clue me in on an issue. It has been said that sandras sister was asked to babysit for the daughter of MH while she went to the church. I also heard it said that the daughter of MH was not home at the the time.

Was Sandras sister really there? Who did she babysit?

I know what you mean. I have read on here how Sandra shouldn't have been allowed to roam alon in the mhp. I believed her Mother was lulled into a false sense of security. I certainly believe that now. I probably wouldn't have thought a thing about letting my children go to a neighbors house to play with another child(that they have played with many times) whose family are pastors and sunday school teachers. It really is easy to get lulled into a false sense of security. One Sunday we were at church and we had a visitor. I could tell he was on drugs. He kept staring at me (I thought). My ten year old daughter went to the restroom. He got up and left right after her. I sat there thinking, I should go with her but I then thought no she is safe we are in church. Then I thought NO you know better than that. I went and found my daughter who he wasn't interested in. He was interested in stealing the offering. I never let my children go to the restroom alone but I would in church...now I don't do that.

Why??? From what I'm reading, it was not an accident; but murder. No more arrests are expected they are saying. This is so difficult to understand...Sandra must have been terrified...this was someone she trusted, the mother of someone she played with..
I cannot wrap my mind around this..I simply wonder why?

This church does seem a little strange especially since it's so small. But the rest of the Lawless family including Melissa's parents attend a very "normal" (imo) Baptist church.

For a brief period my Husband was transferred, by his work to a small town. Through a friend, we were introduced to a Pastor of a small Baptist Church, and his Wife. It, too, was a small Church, maybe 25-35 members, and most were over 60, but I found true faith in those People and they lived what they preached. Pastor Lawless and his church remind me alot of those times.

From an interesting website:
Before the autopsy came back..which I think I mentioned. There was a church involved. It does have a shed or outbuilding next to it (not overgrown). It's to the west of her home. (I wonder if her body wasn't taken to a place Northwest of the church and left for a time before being dumped in the drainage ditch.) It MAY not have been a sexual assault, which I had said, because it looks like it may have been the mother of Sandra's friend.

I'm seriously thinking jealousy more than desire was what led this woman to kill Sandra. I think she thought her child wasn't measuring up to Sandra and she killed her for it. Snapped really.

Wow. Just heard this on the news and am blown away. Can someone please, please give me a quick recap, I know she's arrested - but freaking why?? Why did she kill her? I'm real confused here. Someone's takes and thoughts on this are appreciated. Poor Sandra. This is crap!! I guess its easier to wrap your head around if it were a male SO, sadly to say. TIA.

OMG Her arrests brings up so many more questions for me:

Was she drugging (and I presume filming for *advertiser censored* trade) kids for some time? If so, are the kids totally "out" so they can't talk and just wake up "feeling funny" not knowing what happened to them?

Were her own kids abused?

Are all the parents of youngsters in the MHP FREAKING out right now? They must be!

Are other children and their families that played there going to be contacted by LE?

If this is the scenario, did Sandra's murder result for an OD or have an allergic reaction that killed her? OR....did she wake up "too early" and was killed to keep her quiet?

Also, if this is the scenario, I'm wondering whether Melissa only just started recently doing this kind of crime? Seems like the kids or their parents would have caught on pretty early on.

What might other motives for the murder be?

In his briefing early this morning, Sgt. Sheneman said that LE was convinced that Sandra was dead before she was reported missing.

I know I read that too. I am hoping that her daughter wasn't home.
