Jason Hargrove felt ill about four days after posting a passionate video on social media on March 21. He died Wednesday, said Glenn Tolbert, the head of the drivers union.

Professor Michael Wakelam, Director of the world-leading Babraham Institute in Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday.

Legendary New Jersey jazz and pop guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli died Wednesday at his Saddle River home at 94. The cause was complications from the coronavirus.

A pillar of the American music scene, Pizzarelli performed for presidents, played alongside fellow legends – from Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Miles Davis to Tony Bennett and Paul McCartney.

The Paterson-born Pizzarelli lived in New Jersey his entire life, settling in Saddle River with his wife, Ruth, after serving in the Army in World War II, and performed professionally for an astounding 75 years.

Pizzarelli’s death Wednesday came on the same day as that of New Orleans jazz patriarch Ellis Marsalis, whose son, Branford, said was from coronavirus complications.

Israel Tolentino, 33, died from complications with the coronavirus after battling it for nearly two weeks. The Passaic firefighter leaves behind a wife and their two children, ages 9 and 7.

Thank you all for this thread and I truly appreciate the summaries of the musicians.

African-Americans have a higher rate of high blood pressure, which is a factor in this pandemic. A significant factor.

I am 15% African-American (23andme results) and yep, my blood pressure is on average higher than the average a bit higher than other American women my age. Right now, it's normal (meditation has always helped, also some minor sodium avoidance and good nutrition otherwise; am overweight).

I am not just heartbroken about this. Lots of other feelings too. No general medical advice for this issue (even though the pre-printing work sounds an alarm and offers solutions - no local I know has read any of yet, they are too busy on the front lines). They aren't reading their emails or doing lit reviews as much right now.
