This is very close to where I used to live before I was married, so I know the area well. And we are familiar with her Ann Arbor connection (Fraser's Pub).

It just seems unreal, to have had too many recent murders near where I live/lived through the years.

:seeya:<raises hand> Hi Michiganders! I'm from the area too. I grew up closer to Monroe but I have loads of relatives near Belleville, including Willis and Ann Arbor. It always pings my heart when I hear about crimes against people from my old stomping grounds.

If Egypt did know her killer then I'm confident LE will solve her case. She was murdered in her own home so I'd bet dollars to donuts there's a lot of evidence, especially if it was an unplanned crime. Killers tend to be really stupid.
 
It is a small world indeed, MsMarple. My parents moved Riggs Rd. ( Belleville) the year I got married. (very close to Hull Rd. where this murder happened) . I now live in Monroe County and hubby works in Ann Arbor. these areas are quite familiar and heart-tugging when we have a case so close to places I frequent.

Egypt's father just breaks my heart, especially to see the tears rolling down his cheeks. What a lovely man he seems to be. I want to reach through the screen to hug him.
 
I finally made it over here to see if there was a story about her. I live very close to this and was hoping there would be other locals coming to discuss the story. [emoji17]
I swear I also read she was shot but maybe it was an article that has since been edited.

Van Buren Township Police Lt. Charles Bazzy said Tuesday, June 27 that Covington was last seen and known to be alive Thursday night.

Bazzy said police are limiting the release of details in the investigation- including Covington's cause of death - because it's not believed to be in the public interest at this point.

Egypt was our beer rep at the Wheat and Rye. I just spoke to her Thursday while she was there during my shift. One of the sweetest, kindest, most intelligent souls I've ever known.

I'll never forget our night of shots and laughs back in April. I'm glad our paths crossed during your short time here, and I'll forever miss your certain brand of light and tenacious personality entering our dark little pub 'n' grub once a week. Wheat and Rye last Thursday? In Romulus? That's the night before she was killed, and potentially she went home with someone that night and then was found dead the next day at 7:15pm. Not saying it was you or anything JimJam but you could be one of the last people to see her alive. I'm sure the police have asked for a statement. Can you tell us inquiring minds...was she with anybody? Man, Woman...did everything seem ok?

The obituary mentions a "significant other", so yes, she was with someone.

Egypt is also survived by her significant other, Curtis Meadows of Belleville. I see that, but was that who she was with Thursday night at the Wheat and Rye in Romulus, MI?
