Deputies: Mecosta County teen found safe in Washington, man in custody

A missing teen from Paris, Michigan, was found safe. The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says the 13-year-old girl was last seen leaving home July 31.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says 13-year-old EM was last seen leaving home Wednesday morning at around 8:30 a.m.

We’re told E is 5’05” tall and weighs 160 pounds. She has blue eyes and light-red or pink hair.

E last wore a black long-sleeved shirt with a greenish American flag on the front, a pair of black jeans with holes over the knees, and black Converse shoes with some white on them, according to MCSO.

E was suspected to be with an unknown man, and was considered a runaway. She was found Monday morning in Spanaway, Washington with a 36-year-old man from that area.

I hope this girl receives all of the therapy and support she'll need to heal from this experience. I wonder if the man has a criminal record and hope society will be protected from him permanently.

Missing Michigan girl, 13, found at Pierce County man’s home. He’s charged with kidnapping

The 26-year-old man allegedly had been talking to the girl on Snapchat for four months.

Benjamin Michael Wier of Spanaway was charged Tuesday with second-degree kidnapping with an emphasis on sexual motivation. Pierce County prosecutors allege that Wier took the girl July 31 after communicating with her on Snapchat.

Wier was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree rape of a child and second-degree kidnapping, document show.

He said he knew she was 13 years old and that it was wrong. He allegedly admitted to having sex with her. Wier also told deputies he was in love with the teenager, court documents show.

Deputies asked the teenager for her phone, and she refused. They noticed a “Pierce County Parks” identification card that fell out of her pocket. Her first name was on it and her last name was listed as “Wier.”
