Missing boys' father in court Friday
The father of three missing boys from Morenci will be in court Friday.
John Skelton, who is charged with parental kidnapping in the case of his three missing sons, is scheduled to appear for a divorce hearing with his estranged wife, Tanya Skelton, to deal with custody, property and alimony issues.

Morenci boys' parents in court on custody case
It's been nearly four months since three Morenci brothers went missing, and today their father faced a judge. It has been a frustrating case for investigators, because John Skelton isn't talking, but the people of Morenci aren't giving up hope.
Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, were last seen at their father's home on Thanksgiving. John Skelton claims to have given the boys to "an organization," but police have not confirmed that report.
Today, Skelton faced a judge in a civil custody case involving his estranged wife. Skelton didn't mention his missing kids during the hearing.

Fundraiser for missing boys brings in $30,000
A fundraiser held Saturday for three missing Michigan brothers brought in thousands to help their family search for them.
The event was held in the Morenci High School gym and organizers believe at least $30,000 was collected to help in the search for the boys.

June 3 preliminary hearing set for Skelton
A June 3 preliminary examination on kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges was set Monday in Lenawee County District Court for the father of three missing Morenci boys. Public defender John Glaser requested a date be set, although a final decision has not been made on whether to have an examination where prosecution witnesses would testify.

Judge allows mother of missing boys to sell home
Following a brief court hearing, a judge granted a request by Tanya Skelton to be allowed to sell the home that she once shared with her husband, John, now a suspect in the disappearance of their three young sons.
Lenawee County Circuit Court Judge Margaret Noe granted the request although neither party will benefit from the sale — the deal will be structured in such a way that the buyer of the home on East Congress Street will assume the debt on the home.

Court can suppress records in Skelton search dispite attorney claims
State law is on the side of a Lenawee County District Court judge in a battle over keeping secrets in the investigation of three missing Morenci boys.
That argument was made by an attorney for the court in an answer filed Friday to a Detroit television station’s lawsuit seeking access to John Skelton search warrant documents. The suit was scheduled for an Aug. 2 trial during a hearing in circuit court on April 18. Judge Margaret M.S. Noe also set a Friday deadline for district court to file an answer to the lawsuit WDIV started in December.

Family of missing Skelton boys schedules meeting with media
The family of Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton, the three Morenci boys who went missing at Thanksgiving, is planning a meeting with media tonight in Morenci.
Family spokeswoman Kathye Herrera said the family wants to urge people to continue keeping the boys in their minds as summer approaches and people spend more time outside.

The family of three missing boys keeps the faith
As the weather improves and Spring turns to Summer the family of three missing boys wants everyone in the area surrounding Morenci to be on the look-out.
The grandparents of Tanner, Alexander and Andrew, 5, 7 and 9, told Action News they are still hoping for a reunion but they understand the reality of the situation.
“We are praying to be reunited, whether that be now or in heaven, it’s what we pray for,” Beverly Zuvers, the boys’ grandmother told Action News.

Detroit TV station says it has Skelton search warrant records
Search warrant documents obtained by a Detroit television station show what police took from John Skelton’s home in Morenci in the days after his three sons disappeared.
Among the items seized from the house were a noose made of white rope, a .22-caliber bullet, a Bible and Skelton’s will, according to the documents, many of which are hard to read. The bullet was found on a stairway, the noose in the upstairs part of the house, the Bible on a living room table and the will in Skelton’s dresser.
The list did not say if the bullet was spent or not.

6 months since Morenci boys disappeared, hope turns to agony
The yellow ribbons are still everywhere.
Some are faded, falling down around pillars. Others hang brightly on street signs and trees. They are symbols of a community missing three of its own: Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton.
It has been six months since the young Morenci brothers disappeared.
The home where they were with their father, John Skelton, before they disappeared has been in foreclosure, and Tanya Skelton, the boys' mother, said a judge gave her authority to sell it for what's owed.

Skelton waives right to preliminary exam
The father accused of kidnapping three boys who have been missing since Thanksgiving weekend has waived his right to have a preliminary examination in Lenawee County District Court.
John Skelton, 39, was scheduled to appear in District Court Friday before Judge James Sheridan on three counts of unlawful imprisonment charges.
Instead, he was taken to court Wednesday at the request of his attorney, John Glaser, who waived the hearing, according to Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks.
An arraignment for Mr. Skelton in Circuit Court has been scheduled for June 8.

Skelton enters pleas of not guilty on kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment charges
Skelton was in court Tuesday for a brief trial that settled a divorce action started by his wife, Tanya Skelton, in September last year. Noe granted sole legal custody of their three sons to Tanya Skelton. Joint custody was requested by John Skelton after he claimed the boys will not be returned so long as their mother has legal custody.
“It’s not in my control,” he said Tuesday.
He also denied being responsible for the boys’ disappearance.
“As far as the children are concerned, I didn’t take the kids,” John Skelton said in testifying for his joint custody request.

Skelton tells wife she will never see her boys again
John Skelton has had two court dates this past week in Lenawee County Circuit Court. Tuesday, he represented himself in a divorce hearing. Wednesday, he waived his rights to an arraignment in his criminal case. Judge Margaret Noe setting the trial date for August 26th.
