DT is going to decide her fate today.

However, according to TMZ the photos seemed to have been taken THIS year, not when she was 17.
If this is so, apparently truthfullness is not part of be a traditionalist.

That's what I was thinking; she doesn't appear to need implants in the photos.

Miss Rhode Island photos. Double standard? After viewing these, I'm wondering why anyone would go after CP.

The difference is that Ms RI included the photos with her pajeant application so the pajeant knew what was out there already for her. Ms CA stated there weren't any, then that there was one, then that she was a teen...and it just keeps going. US reported that one of the sponsors of the pajeant paid for her implants-TMZ has an anonymous source that has told them clearly the photos were done after those implants, which happened in Dec 2008. Hard not to put the two together-the fact is she set herself up to get her 15 minutes likely knowing this would all come down in the end...jmo.

IMO, the Miss USA pageant is only a T&A pageant... give me Miss America... at least there, scholarships and talent are a part of the T&A show. As for Miss California: I do think she has a right to her opinion... and even though I am for gay marriage and have donated monies to the movement: to outright think that her opinion should be used to annihilate her is wrong. But the issue I see here, though: her trainer should have long taught her on how to handle controversial issues better, that pop up in pageant interviews... especially how to deal with being truthful, without alienating others, or how to give a generic non-binding answer that is non-definitive. Of course, I kind of chuckle at the whole integrity issues, with her, given that she thought nothing of getting implants JUST TO WIN A T&A PAGEANT. Nothing says upholding your integrity by getting boob implants JUST TO WIN A T&A PAGEANT. :)

I can't understand how this fake boobied beauty queen has become a worth-while topic on the nightly news and in our newspapers. And hey... Barack Obama can take the same stand as she did, and there is no backlash of sorts... it blows my mind that it is bad for her to feel and say what she did about gay marriage, but it is okay for him. I'm confused...

If she is to lose her crown, I only see 2 reason for her to: how she is shrugging off her own bosses by only allowing communications through her publicists, and doing work with NOM under the Miss California USA crown without consulting her bosses first, is wrong. You simply don't thumb your nose at your bosses or job like that. As for her topless pics: without a doubt she was in the wrong by signing a contract with the Miss USA people, knowing full well that those pics were out there... but my gawd, the Miss USA pageant needs to get over itself... they are ran by a sexist pig (Donald Trump), encourage plastic surgery and boob implants, insist on parading women around in tiny bathing suits and provocative dresses just to win a sash and well designed head glass... but they are bothered by the baring of a little boobage? pfffffffftttttttt...

Which I why I think DT will give her another chance. He allowed Tara Conner, Miss USA, to keep her crown, despite allegations of underage drinking, drug use, and sexual misconduct. What's showing a little boob when compared to Conner's indiscretions?

Donald is fine with the pictures... he just said it...

Her place as Miss CA is safe...

ETA: what I took issue with is how she treated her bosses and Trump says it was just miscommunication. I am glad that they cleared that up. Good for her keeping her crown...

I agree with The Donald's decision!

Trump, ever the business mogel, knows that pulling her out of the spotlight will end the free publicity his pagent is getting!
He can't turn down free publicity - of any kind!

Okay! This has gone just damn far enough.
Unemployment is sitting around 8.5 percent. People are losing their homes to foreclosure, the health care system in the country is bankrupting people and this is the crap that makes the news?
I'm furious at the news outlets (not the entertainment show) for covering this. Who cares about her views on marriage. She's certainly not an expert on the subject of same-sex or any type of marriage.
She has been given far too much attention.
Let's get back to the REAL news.

"Real" news is quite woebegone right now - that's why this light airy stuff is nice to gab about!

Well I can see I am in the minority here but I'll just say it. I am not for legalizing gay marriage. I think it is a slippery slope. Then who's equal rights are you going to deny next time...brother/sister, polygamists, underage....on and on.

That does not mean I am a hate monger, or a bigot. I have gay friends. And yes, many laws of this county and basic tenets are based on christianity. Separation of church and state could be used in many arguments but I don't think our founding fathers had this in mind. I am quite tolerant of gay people but the bible says what it says. Do I love my gay friends less, no, because of the pain they have gone through, there have been times that I've loved them even more.

I believe the left-leaning media is the one hyping this to no end. There is a bigger issue here: I personally think she represents a large majority of Americans, including our current president, who feel the same way, and the outcry and attacks that she has endured since the pageant have been incredibly disrespectful and rude. She is one American who voiced her opinion, and under our consitution, she is entitled to have that voice. She did not go into that pageant EVER expecting a question such as that, and she did the best she could. I for one am sick of the double standard. Some people believe in freedom of speech/rights etc, but only if it agrees with their voice. If someone contrary has an opinion, they are raked over the coals, subjected to rude and lude names, have their personal lives dug through and splashed across the media, and called radical, racist, or homophobic. It is WRONG. Why should gays have rights but not unborn children? People are allowed to have an opinion. Ms. Prejean said it best today--This should not be happening in America. She was asked her opinion, she is entitled to her opinion, and this whole controversary was over her opinion. This is total bologney that this whole situation had anything to do with any contracts, photos etc--this was a pure and simple case of shutting her up because her opinion differed from others. Shanna Moakler and the other CA pageant official wanted her booted because they do not agree with her. Now Trump has shut them up and shut them down, which they did not expect to have happen, so now they are playing kissy face with Ms. Prejean. So...those who did want her crown taken, do you also want a recall on Obama's election? He clearly stated that he feels the same way, so shouldn't he be raked over the coals, and ridiculed too? While this may have been just a silly beauty contestant, this situation leads to a bigger issue, which is that certain groups in this country are trying to shut up voices that do not agree with their own.

There is no slippery slope and "thinking it" doesn't make it so. Polygamy and incest are (and should be, IMO) prohibited on entirely different grounds. Courts have long held that minors do not have full adult rights for their own good. Now these laws may be challenged in the future, but they won't be overturned because gay people are allowed full marriage rights.

"Separation of church and state" is the law. It isn't something to be used or not, depending on convenience. Our founding fathers didn't envision gay marriage, but then they didn't know the concept of gay people. They also legalized slavery, so they were hardly infallible. Fortunately, they left us principles sufficiently universal to prove useful though the centuries in areas of which they had no knowledge. One of these principles was equal rights; another was respect for minority rights.

The Bible "says what it says"? Doubtful, unless you are reading ancient Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. But translation problems aside (though they are many and huge), unless you follow ALL the biblical proscriptions (which nobody does), then invoking it selectively is merely using it to support a preexisting opinion.

Bill O'Reilly has been ranting about Miss Cali every day since the pageant. She was in trouble for her appearances on right-wing media, so blaming liberals alone for making an issue is nonsense.

Repeatedly insisting that the President "agrees with her" is equally incorrect. He spoke out in opposition to Prop 8. What Miss Cali thinks isn't clear from her incoherent pageant response, but mouthing right-wing sound bites is not the same thing as holding an opinion.

As for the motives of pageant officials who objected to her lying on her application form and doing a publicity tour outside their control, I have no idea how you would know.

But virtually nobody here has argued that she should be punished for her opinion on gay marriage.

I think she's a blithering idiot, but, as far as I know, that isn't against pageant rules and it's no excuse to take away her crown.

No there is absolutely a slippery slope. And homosexuality is a sin according to the bible. I am so sick of people trying to force their views on other people. And surprise, surprise its no longer the religious right yelling on tv, it is angry bullying radical left liberals.

The majority of the country does not believe in gay marriage, that is a fact. One of the most liberal states in America, did not go for it, that is a fact.

All of this BS, anything goes, PC, ACLU mentality creates something negative in my opinion. When society stops having boundaries and everything starts sliding towards acceptance, you have chaos. And that it where the country is going. If voters in a state vote for it then fine but I will still disagree.

And I don't believe in being radical the other way either. But it is absolutely my right to believe that changing the definition of marriage is not a good idea for many reasons.

And you, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar and so on will not make me feel guilty or afraid to speak my mind. There wasn't anything controversial about Miss California's answer, she was attacked because this new liberal mafia cannot tolerate opinions other than their own.......how hypocritical. And yeah, conservative pundits are speaking out because it is bull that this woman has gone through this. It's not about being articulate, her photos or anything else ...it is about hatred.....hatred from the left, that she dare insinuate that being a homosexual is wrong. The only thing safe to attack these days is Christianity....not Islam, abortion, gay rights, socialism etc..........but god forbid you mention your Christian religion, then you are a close minded biblethumper.

So, I respectfully disagree.

Overreact much? I can't speak for O'Donnell or Behar, but I never said you should feel guilty. (Nor did I question your contention that you have gay friends and treat them well.) And I certainly never asked you to stop expressing your opinions.

But when you express opinions that are incorrect, you can't expect them to go unchallenged.

The "slippery slope" is a straw-man argument. Incest is illegal and will continue to be illegal for health reasons. Polygamy is illegal and will continue to be illegal because a "marriage" of three or more equals does not provide the same social benefits that derive from a marriage of two (gay or straight). Sex with children (and animals) is illegal and will continue to be illegal because it is by definition non-consensual. Gay marriage changes none of this.

Yes, there are a few passage in the Bible that declare homosexuality a sin. But there are many more that say the same of divorce. And the clearest prohibitions, in Leviticus, for example, also condemn wearing clothing made from two types of cloth and the trimming of beards before entering the temple. And you should by all means look up what the Bible has to say about women during and after periods of menstruation. All modern people, Christian and Jew, choose to follow some of these restrictions and choose to ignore others. So merely saying "the Bible says" isn't a compelling argument.

And, besides, why do my rights depend on your faith in an ancient text, however great that text may be?

And how does my marriage force you to do anything? You are still entitled to believe my relationship is wrong and to say so here and elsewhere.

ETA: If you read through the pages of this thread, you will find that I and almost everyone else agreed that Miss Cali should NOT be penalized for the opinion she expressed at the pageant. And in fact, she has retained her crown. So I don't know the "liberal mafia" of which you speak, but apparently it isn't very powerful.
